Thousands of protesters in Sri Lanka have broken through police barricades and stormed the president's official residence, news reports have said.

In one of the largest anti-government marches in the country this year, the protesters are demanding the resignation of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

Thousands of people swarmed into Colombo's government district, shouting slogans against the president and dismantling several police barricades to reach Mr Rajapaksa's house, according to the Reuters news agency.

Police fired shots in the air but were unable to stop the angry crowd from surrounding the presidential residence.

Sri Lanka has been struggling under a severe foreign exchange shortage that has limited essential imports of fuel, food and medicine.

Day 1: Lunch Break - Pakistan 82/2 (27.0 Ovs), Azhar Ali 26(66), Babar Azam 47(78)

Azhar's SR will be around 40 even if he play against under 12 teams. Pathetic timid player.

Boring as it sounds, pakistan probably need to play 3 spinners. Yasir, Nouman, Nawaz.
Cummins looked totally powerless. Gives an idea of what it will be like for pacers.

Knowing Babar he will play Hasan Ali and will cost us another 2 games. M Wasim along with yes man Saqlain need to go.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam smashed eight fours and four sixes in a fighting 113-ball 88 as Pakistan finished the first day of the three-day warm-up against Sri Lanka Cricket XI at 277 for seven at the Colts Cricket Club Ground here.

After Pakistan elected to bat, Babar had to walk in early after the openers were dismissed inside five overs on a moist pitch that had a covering of grass.

Under a heavy cloud cover, the right-hander smashed 134 runs with Azhar Ali, who scored 43 off 119.

The partnership ended with Azhar’s dismissal off Lasith Embuldeniya, who returned two for 83.

Left-handed batter Fawad Alam and Pakistan vice-captain Mohammad Rizwan scored 22 and 31, while Saud Shakeel and Agha Salman were unbeaten on 30 and 43.

SLC XI’s Lakshitha Manasinghe snared three wickets in his 23 overs and gave 83 runs.

To make the most of the match and provide maximum match time to all the players in the squad, Pakistan’s all 18 players will feature in the match.

Pakistan are in Sri Lanka to play the hosts in the two ICC World Test Championship fixtures. The first Test will run from 16-20 July in Galle. For the second Test (20-24 July), the visitors will return to Colombo to play Sri Lanka at the R. Premadasa International Stadium.

Covid-19 tests update

Colombo, 7 July 2022:

A member of the player support personnel of the Pakistan Test squad is in isolation after he tested positive for Covid-19 in the on-arrival Rapid Antigen test.

Malang Ali, the masseur, will now undergo five-day isolation and will be allowed to come out of isolation upon returning a negative RAT test on the fifth day.

Good news!

Mr Malang Ai has come out of isolation after testing negative in Rapid Antigen test today

Sri Lanka Cricket XI are batting after Pakistan were all out on 322. Captain Babar Azam and Salman Ali Agha scored half-centuries.

How did sarfraz manage to have that much hair on his head????? 🤔🤔🤔Hair transplant or wigg?????

9 specialist batsmen could score 323...….:danish

And Nauman Ali is getting his usual phainta from SL-A team.

This confirms one theory of mine that Nawaz is a better spinner than Nauman, he also can bat.

One of the worst spinner around along with Sajid Khan

Yasir is no better. He is infact worse.

This is why it is pointless sticking with these old spinners with no upside. Play the younger guys instead (Shadab, Nawaz, Zafar). These guys may not do any miracles either but one thing is sure, they can't do worse. It's kind of hard to do worse. The good thing though is that they provide significant batting and fielding too.

There is nothing to lose here. The old guys don't provide any security as it is.

Anyway, the way to go is 3 spinners in Lanka.

No point playing 3 pacers. Nawaz hopefully will book his place.

Pakistan must find a couple decent spinners. It is time to drop Yasir and Nauman.Azhar Ali and Hasan should also be dropped. There are plenty of batsmen who replace Azhar.Dhani or Rauf can replace Hasan.

Knew that!!! Hasan Ali will play all the matches since signboard coach has neither any clue nor any say in team selection.
Sl will win this series by 2-0.

Having watched him bowl in the ODI series against the Windies and looking at the scorecard above, it may not be the worst idea to play Nawaz as your main spinner.

Not a great tour match performance so far.
This is just a practice match.I think every member of the Pakistan squad will get a chance to play. The intensity will go up during test matches.Sri Lanka are not easy to beat in their home conditions

Lack of quality spinners and pacers coming through the ranks is seriously worrying. Without bowling quality you cannot win test matches. Just look at the difference the likes of Bhumra, Shami and Siraj have made to India.

Yasir Shah is totally finished as well. Trying to revive a dead horse is futile, just let him rest.

We are struggling against even SL D team. I bet this team is very much capable to beat our team. Fawad is finished still PCB persists with him so as Hasan Ali and others. Pathetic board.

The warm-up match between Pakistan and SLC XI ends in a draw.

Abdullah Shafique made 63 (retired out)

Will probably be Sony Max in UK, not confirmed anywhere though...

The Australia series was shown on Sky channel 732 Hum Masala. Seeing as it’s a Pakistani channel expect the same for our series.

Colombo, 13 July 2022: Opener Abdullah Shafique scored 63 off 111 balls on the last day of the three-day warm-up match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka Cricket XI at the Colts Cricket Club Ground here in Colombo. Pakistan, in their second innings, were 178 for two on stumps as the match ended in a draw.

Abdullah, who has a century and four half-centuries to his name in Test cricket, and Imam added 61 runs for the first wicket before the latter was dismissed for 30.

Abdullah was retired out after smashing five fours and two sixes.

Azhar Ali was also retired out after scoring 40 off 75 (three fours).

Earlier Sri Lanka XI declared on 375 for eight at Lunch. Minod Bhanuka scored 32, Sahan Arachchige made 28 and Chamika Karunaratne scored 27.

Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali and Shaheen Afridi took a wicket each.

Pakistan will depart for Galle tomorrow (Thursday) for the first of the two Test matches against Sri Lanka. The first match will be played from 16-20 July. The tourists will then return to Colombo to play hosts at R. Premadasa International Stadium in the second Test, which begins on 24 July.

The series is part of ICC World Test Championship cycle.

How much Saud Shakil scored in the first innings? Why Sarfraz is playing and wasting other's opportunities? Looks like PCB is not that serious about test championship. Just happy to give everyone some chances to make every region happy.

SLC Management jointly with PCB has decided to play the 2nd Test Match of the Pakistan Tour of Sri Lanka 2022 at Galle International Cricket Stadium
