Don't have much ideas about Islamic laws. Regardless of religious laws, it would have been appropriate for him to first divorce Sania.

As per NDTV report, a divorce has happened.

Pakistan's former captain Shoaib Malik announced on Saturday that he has married a second time to the country's popular actor Sana Javed in Karachi after getting divorced from Sania Mirza. The cricketer who was previously married to Indian tennis star, Sania, with whom he has a son, released a photograph on a social media platform with his new wife, with the words "And We created you in pairs". Their five-year-old son Izaan lives with Sania.

Sania's father Imran Mirza told PTI that "it was a 'khula'", which refers to the right of a Muslim woman to unilaterally divorce her husband.

The malik and mirza couple made no sense as they were not even living pakistan and both of them together it seemed as malik was being whipped.

I am surprised that Umair Jaswal had a divorce and it was never reported in media. Good for Umair and Sana for keeping their personal business personal.

You never know the circumstances under which the divorce happened between Sania and Shoaib but yes, it is the children who suffer the most because of this.

It would have been interesting if the world cup was going on now to see if Pakistan still gets the same support in Hyderabad like they got back in Oct. Those Pakistan Zindabaad chants in the stadium still echoes in my ear, so much love Hyderabad had for PCT. Just wow.

Pakistan will still get significant support in Hyderabad, Chennai and Kolkata in a neutral match . Even in Bangalore , they got support against NZ (even though majority were clearly pro NZ)

This divorce is not going to change anything.
 
Malik turning out to be a right Romeo. It seems like myself, public are unaware of the previous divorces so coming out with a post like that out of the blue seems a bit unsavoury to me.

Huge controversy erupted.Shoaib denied, called her a liar. Ayesha filed a police complaint accusing him of cheating and presented video evidence of their marriage.Realizing that he is in trouble, Shoaib met Ayesha through 10 mediators who facilitated the divorce settlement, including an alimony of INR 15 crores to Ayesha.

Hard to believe Sania was unaware of all this considering how high profile their marriage and this controversy was.​
 
Through marrying Sania Mirza he got the celebrity fame and plenty of showbiz friends in both India and Pakistan. Would have been a forgotten cricketer if he hadn't married her.

He was quite good from his debut till about 2008. I remember he was made the captain in 2008.

Sanias choice to dump her long time fiance and to marry Malik. She also knew about his first marriage and helped him to divorce his first wife.

Knowing his history and what she was doing, she cannot complain

She knew about it. There is no way she didn’t. The whole divorce thing was all over the news. He contended he was cheated by showing pictures of some other girl. I am sure Sania either believed him or didn’t care
 
Is Shoaib Malik going to play for Pakistan again? Need him back to save this pathetic team. He can play as specialist captain batting at 7. He needs to bring his buddies: Akmal, Sharjeel, etc. to the XI.

He was a decent cricketer to be fair, probably a lot better in his field than Sania. But yes he used her which is disgusting.
 
What a classy and high profile girls ( Mirza ) from a good family , married to a paindoo , cheater , wonder why.

Sania deserved a better and faithful husband . All the reports suggesting Shaoib has been cheating on her for last many years and at the end Sania asked for divorce, she had enough. I have no respect for Shoaib , I believe once you have children , you should try your best to make the marriage intact. The worst sufferer from the divorce are the innocent children.

Discourage doesn't mean prohibited. The prophet (pbuh) married various women who had a prior divorce. But in Pakistan society, there is stigma around divorce and divorcees, especially when it comes to a woman and there is no basis for that in Islam. So many lives are ruined because couples are forced to stay together in an unhappy marriage. It is better to divorce than to stay in an unhappy marriage.

Malik doesn't owe anything to people on social media that he must inform them about divorce. Divorce happens and Sania has wished the new couple well. Most relationships have an expiry date, but people are too scared to take a divorce. Good on them for doing what was right for them.
 
I'm shocked that people care about this. It shouldn't be getting half the amount of interest it's receiving.

None of these people are saints or activists, they're just athletes and entertainers.

The announcement confirmed the rumours of his divorce from Indian tennis star Sania Mirza, whose family also confirmed the same in a social media post a day later. But, not many are aware that Sania wasn't Shoaib's first wife. Sania and Shoaib tied the nuptial knot in 2010 and also have a son named Izhaan Mirza Malik. But, Shoaib had reportedly married another woman, whom he had to divorce, before starting a new life with the Indian tennis ace.

Right before Shoaib was to marry Sania in 2010, a controversy erupted where a woman named Ayesha Siddiqui from Hyderabad claimed to have married Shoaib in 2002.

While Shoaib had denied the allegations, Ayesha, also known as Maha Siddiqui, decided to file a police complaint and also showed video proofs of their wedding.

It was then reported that the two reached a settlement where the Pakistani cricketer had to divorce Ayesha and also give her alimony of INR 15 crore.

The most interesting part of Shoaib and Ayesha's marriage was that it was a 'telephonic nikah'. In an interview with Times News Network, Shoaib himself talked about having a telephonic nikah without even seeing his bride. The cricketer, just 20 years old back then, only had a few pictures of Ayesha with him, and the two used to talk on the phone regularly. But, not long after, Shoaib was tricked into marrying Ayesha, who wasn't even the girl he thought she was in pictures.

While Ayesha kept giving one excuse after the other and refused to meet Shoaib, in 2002, she told the cricketer that she wanted to marry him immediately as the news of their relationship was all over the headlines, making it difficult for her family.

"This episode happened in 2002. Ayesha wanted us to get married. While I definitely wanted to marry her, I didn't want to rush into it. For one, I hadn't met her. She suggested that we could do a telephone nikah right away. There was no way I could tell my parents about a telephone nikah, because it's not the way they wanted me to get married. I was just 20 then, and under a lot of pressure from Ayesha to get married as she was saying that her family was losing face in Hyderabad as word had got around that we were courting. I walked out of my house one morning in June 2002, and went to my friend's shop and called from there. I got a nikahnama, signed it, thinking the girl I was marrying was the one in the photographs," Shoaib said in the interview.

It was sometime in August 2005 that Shoaib got to know that the girl he was talking to on the phone, wasn't the one he had seen in pictures. When he confronted Ayesha about the same, the woman also told him the truth.

Shoaib even thought of releasing the pictures he had with him but was asked not to do so by Ayesha as the girl in the photographs was already married. Thinking the release of pictures would ruin her life, Malik decided against doing so.

I'm not jealous of Shoaib Malik, in fact I feel pity for him that he's doing these acts at this age. He has a kid with Sania. But maybe your'e one of those men that judges their success on the type of women they have and how many. God knows and could care less.

As per a TV Journalist Shoaib and Sana had been in a relationship for three years after first meeting each other on the sets of a TV show.

"Sana Javed and Shoaib Malik have been meeting for the last three years. At that time, Sana Javed was already married to Umair Jaswal. She met Shoaib Malik in Jeeto Pakistan. Shoaib Malik and Sana Javed started meeting consecutively in the show. Also, let me tell you, Shoaib Malik used to put conditions before appearing in the shows that he will only come in the shows if Sana Javed will be invited as guest, no actor noticed this thing because Sana Javed was already married to Umair Jaswal. People were curious about Ayesha Omar, but the real reason was something else," the Pakistani TV channel's journalist revealed.

The report also claimed that Sana only informed her husband Umar Jaswal, singer and songwriter, about her willingness to seek divorce a few months ago, leaving the latter stunned.

As far as the divorce of Sania and Shoaib is concerned, the entire matter was handled very carefully and sitlently.

"Itni khamosi se ye talaq hui, itni khamoshi se ki jaise kisi mulk me aatmee mansooba jo hai wo paya tak pahuchaya jata hai, chup karke khamoshi se (it all happened so quietely that no one came to know about the separation, it was all very silent)," the journalist revealed.

Shoaib Malik is a cricket player on the pitch but a very different type of player off the pitch.
 
He gained more popularity through his marriages than through his cricket exploits.

I don't think Malik was a celebrity, Sania definitely was. A Muslim lady playing tennis at the highest level was a big deal. Malik had a few good knocks against India in ODIs and nothing else. He is still a cricket nobody outside the subcontinent.

There's a way to go about these things and something he should've been cognizant of especially being a celebrity. He could've done this honourably and divorced Sania properly rather than her filing for a Kula after his new marriage.

Bro Sania did the khula 3 months ago or probably further back.

Everyone could see that they were no longer married through their cryptic posts on IG. Not wishing each other on their birthdays, anniversaries and no pictures together at their son’s birthday party etc.

The only reason why they probably couldn’t announce that they were divorced at the time was because I believe they had a show together on ARY, and it could’ve been a breach of their contract or whatever.

There’s even a thread about rumours of their divorce if im not wrong.

one thing is certain. Had the Indian captain married a Pakistani female sports star, that sports star would had been banished by Pakistanis.

I think in those days he was quite shy and awkward in front of the media. It was after his marriage that he became a regular on TV Shows and events.
Btw, he was captain for a short time, only 3 Tests and some 35 ODIs, out of which some 20 off games were against Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, West Indies and few associate nations.
But you are right he was the captain and he had the perks and privileges. All in all not a high profile captain. He is hardly rated outside the subcontinent.

Only by the Pakistanis who believe in Islam. There are many who are ambivalent. Perhaps if Bilawal Bhutto's sister married an Indian captain he would be ok with it.
