Less than ashwins. So, no info on how much his arm straightens?
to me it looks alright, no such bend to make it suspecious. So, no info on how much his arm straightens?
if he never get banned by ICCBatters will get used to him with time.
Seems so, he ends up with a poor spell of 0/39 in 4 overs against IU in Eliminator 1.Usman has lost his confidence after that action report.
We don't need another specialist no.11 and an awful fielder. We already have 3 in Abrar, sufiyanHappy for him. Hopefully we will see him in national colors soon as well
How is against spirit of the sportEven if he isn't chucking, that extra long pause of his should be outlawed. It's a disgrace and not in keeping with the spirit of the sport.
Exactly , people just make up these terms spirit of the game etc to suit whatever dogma they hold. I personally don’t see anything wrong with his action. Is it a pause? Is it a massive slowing down. Doesn’t matter, unless it’s deemed illegal he should play and wreak havocHow is against spirit of the sport
Yes. In QuettaIs he in the PSL?
Ugliest action since Saeed Ajmal in world cricket
2 wickets off 2 balls for Usman and this run chase has now become even more difficult for Zalmi.
He has already been clearedUsman Tariq reported for suspect bowling action
Rawalpindi, 14 April 2025: Quetta Gladiators spinner Usman Tariq was reported by on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Chris Brown for a suspect bowling action during his side’s HBL PSL X match against Lahore Qalandars at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday evening.
As per the rules, Usman can continue to bowl in future matches. However, if he is reported again, he will be suspended from bowling and will need to obtain clearance from an ICC accredited lab before he can resume bowling.
PCB
I’m assuming you meant spinners cos there’s no way you’d miss out Bumrah lol

there are three things certain in life - death, taxes, and rameez calling Hussain Talat, Talat Hussain.
Called it.Usman Tariq reported for suspect bowling action

PCB
Bumrah has the cleanest action ever. Can't compare every action to that![]()
Exactly. Had made the same comment in this thread last year. The action is a disadvantage rather than a strength. He has no momentum from the runup when he delivers and obviously there is no follow through. While i don't like or agree with his action at all, from what little I have seen of him, the delivery seems clear. I guess it must be what you have pointed out. Given his need for extra power for quicker ones he might be bending his arm on some deliveries. Novel as that action might be, there is no way he will last long with it.the guy has no follow through ...just stand and delivers.. the runup is just a camouflage. he does not pause he halts and reloads. the arm does not bend when he bowls round arm googlies and carrom balls but definitely bents when bowing quicker ones.
Can he field ?Glad to see him abroad. If he performs here, PCB should publically get his action checked in england/ australia in a high profile way to dispel any issues and then unleash him in t20.
He really could be a Saeed Ajmal/ Rashid Khan level bowler who could be the difference in our bowling attack.
NoCan he field ?
COuld be selected as a surprise package for the world cup. He's a decent bowler but the majority of the novelty is the action. Once people get into the groove against how he releases the ball he may be easier to play.Glad to see him abroad. Then he should not be considered.
well then best time to maximise the utility of his novelty is in a major tournament, but when it comes to debuting inexperienced players in major tournaments my head keeps going back to what a wasted talent raza hasan was.COuld be selected as a surprise package for the world cup. Was Ajmal a good fielder? Then he should not be considered.
How many years ago was that ?Was Ajmal a good fielder?
If he was available today with a clear action, would you not select him in an instant for the current team? How many years ago was that ?
No because we already have Abrar and Sufiyaan in the squad pluss he needs to get his action tested before playing international cricket. If he was available today with a clear action, would you not select him in an instant for the current team?
Like I said, with a clear action, so ignoring that part.No because we already have Abrar and Sufiyaan in the squad pluss he needs to get his action tested before playing international cricket.
Yout acting like ajmal is still playing internationally and what's even more hilarious is that your stating ajmal>to a nobody.Like I said, with a clear action, so ignoring that part.
To even consider Abrar and Sufiyaan over Ajmal is hilarious. Ajmal was one of the best limited over spinners. He would walk into any t20 11 in the world right now except maybe Afghanistan.
When he did return with a clear action- how effective was Ajmal?Like I said, with a clear action, so ignoring that part.

How can you ignore that part?!
(And I was a huge fan).
He was obviously leagues ahead of these jokers today but he was not effective with a completely clear action
Yout acting like ajmal is still playing internationally and what's even more hilarious is that your stating ajmal>to a nobody.
Like I said ajmal last played international cricket 10 years ago.Clearly you don't understand simple arguments. If Ajmal can make any team despite his fielding, clearly fielding isn't a limiting factor for a premier spinner.
So it doesn't matter if Tariq is a rubbish fielder if he can bowl well and has a clear action.
What’s your point …Like I said ajmal last played international cricket 10 years ago.
For the record, i think we should play Tariq also in limited oversBecause the poster made the argument that they didn't want Tariq if he wasn't a good fielder.
I made the point that for a specialist spinner who's a trump card, the fielding doesnt matter like it didnt with Ajmal.
So instead their reply was, 'well that was years ago', and my point was, that Ajmal would walk into any team now despite that fielding.
....... ie fielding doesnt matter.
Action is a different debate.
Point is stop comparing a nobody to a pakistan great, just because it was acceptable to have crap fielders in the team a decade ago doesn't mean pakistan need to still follow the same formula. What’s your point …

Don't fix what's not broken Abrar is bowling decently well and pluss I ain't seen him a drop a sitter unless proven otherwise.Nothing is 100% perfect in this world, and we have to make compromises everywhere.
So, we have to look to a balance (and not concentrate on only one thing).
If his bowling brings more benefit than his leaking a few runs in the fielding, then he deserves the spot.
India did it with Chakravarthy in CT25.well then best time to maximise the utility of his novelty is in a major tournament, but when it comes to debuting inexperienced players in major tournaments my head keeps going back to what a wasted talent raza hasan was.

This is another issue if we have to test our bench strength or not, but this has nothing to do with the issue of dropping people while they are not perfect in every job.

That's fine it's your opinion no problemits still acceptable to have crap fielders in the team when they're good.
Fair enough, happy to disagree. That's fine it's your opinion no problem![]()
There are many so called wasted talents over the years. The simple fact is you can’t just pick pick a good spinner because he has a bit of guile and mystery. In the modern day it’s simply not enough (once it was). Nowadays you need fitness, fielding, character maturity, match awareness. Everything. Many Pakistani players get selected because of a few good performances in a domestic or a t20 league but it takes many years once there to perfect your craft.well then best time to maximise the utility of his novelty is in a major tournament, but when it comes to debuting inexperienced players in major tournaments my head keeps going back to what a wasted talent raza hasan was.
Shaman debuted way too soon. Ajmal way too late.Fair enough, happy to disagree.
I like shadab and think he's our best ever fielder. But it's been so frustrating not having an x-factor bowler.
Tariq to me is the most likely of any bowlers to be that. That may be a fool's hope, so time will tell.
I actually think he wont be given a proper chance with his action.
