This Indian team is completly out of it and unfit beyond belief. Only harbajan is relevant due to his chucking.

The team to worry about is SA because their playing with 30 year olds who are still international players and represent the team so obviously they have the biggest advantage.

SA unlucky to miss out on run rate, looked much better than WI and India and defeated Pakistan. Looks like Pakistan Legends are also not playing players on merit Yasir Arafat would bowl better than Amin and likes of Wahab continue to play despite injured in most matches.

World Championship of Legends (WCL), the only ECB-approved league in its category, has announced the launch of registrations for its groundbreaking fan engagement program, Live With The Legends (LWL). The initiative offers cricket enthusiasts worldwide a chance to secure a spot in an exclusive 16-day, all-expenses-paid UK tour, where 12 selected fans will share living quarters and experiences with cricket's greatest stars.

The Live With The Legends program represents an unprecedented level of access to the sport's elite, featuring exclusive travel and accommodation arrangements alongside cricket legends, behind-the-scenes access to team preparations and match-day activities, VIP access to official WCL events and post-match celebrations, one-on-one interactions with players, professional photo sessions, and signed memorabilia from the teams.

The selection process will unfold across three carefully designed rounds. The first round, running from February 15 to March 15, will test participants through a 15-minute cricket knowledge assessment. Successful candidates will advance to the second round, held from March 16 to April 25, where they must submit a one-minute video showcasing their passion for cricket. The final round, scheduled for April 7-9, will comprise live Zoom interviews with WCL captains and officials, with winners to be announced on April 15.

Yuvraj Singh will return as the captain of India Champions for the second season of the World Championship of Legends (WCL). With the success of the inaugural season still fresh, excitement for the second edition is rapidly growing. India Champions will begin their journey with a clash against Pakistan Champions on July 20. The competition will be played in a round-robin format, with the top four teams moving on to the semifinals. India Champions won the tournament last season after defeating Pakistan in the final held in Birmingham.

Smuts, van Wyk Shine as South Africa Champions Edge Past Australia in Thriller to Reach WCL 2025 Final

Half-centuries from JJ Smuts and Morne van Wyk, followed by a disciplined team bowling performance, powered South Africa Champions to a nail-biting one-run win over Australia Champions in the second semi-final of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 at Edgbaston on Thursday.

With this thrilling victory, South Africa booked their spot in the final, where they will take on table-toppers Pakistan Champions at the same venue on Saturday.

Chasing a challenging 187-run target, Australia Champions fell agonisingly short, finishing at 185/7. Wayne Parnell held his nerve in the final over, successfully defending 14 runs despite conceding a six off the first ball.

Dan Christian fought valiantly for Australia, remaining unbeaten on 29 off 29 balls, which included three fours and three sixes. He was supported by solid contributions from Chris Lynn (35) and D’Arcy Short (33) at the top of the order.

For South Africa, Parnell and Hardus Viljoen picked up two wickets apiece, while Duanne Olivier and Imran Tahir claimed one each.

Earlier, after opting to bat first, South Africa Champions posted a competitive total of 186/8 in their 20 overs. The innings had a rocky start as the in-form AB de Villiers was dismissed for just six in the second over with only 13 runs on the board.

However, van Wyk and Smuts stabilized the innings brilliantly, stitching together a 111-run stand for the second wicket. Smuts scored a fluent 57 off 41 deliveries, hitting eight fours and a six before falling in the 12th over.

Van Wyk continued to anchor the innings, forming a brief 13-run stand with Sarel Erwee (9), before being dismissed by Brett Lee in the 16th over. He top-scored with a blistering 76 off just 35 balls, smashing seven fours and five sixes.

Despite their strong platform, South Africa lost four wickets in the final stages, adding only 28 runs in the last 25 balls.

The anger of Indian fans were never towards Pak players. They were rightfully there as invited and played good cricket to be in finals. Our anger were at the organizers and Ajay Devgan.

In other words though this is what I would say...

The wrath of Indian fans was never meant for the Pakistani players - they were like polite guests at a chaotic wedding, invited, well dressed, and somehow making it to the dance floor with grace.

The fury of the indian fans was reserved for the true nasterminds of the mess: the organizers, who planned this tournament like a last-minute birthday party, and of course, Ajay Devgan - because when in doubt, blame Bollywood.

After all, nothing says "strategic planning" like fire effects, drone shows, and Singham-level drama while the cricket pitch cried in silence. :inti

The true desires of Indian fans is beyond the understanding of the common man. The world has failed to understand what the Indian fans genuinely want. There seems to be an extremist faction within this fanbase that strongly believes in boycotting anything and everything that does not align with their views.

This extremist group may not representative of the entire fanbase though but their influence cannot be ignored. It is difficult to engage with this lot.

Pakistan's reputation is not in danger from this. If anything, Indian reputation is going down day by day.

I fully agree with the thought behind this decision. Using a country’s name is a matter of immense responsibility and honour and it should never be casually permitted without prior approval.

Players participating in these unofficial leagues are not under the command or regulation of the national board, and therefore their actions could inadvertently bring disrepute to the country. The absence of oversight makes that a real risk.

There’s absolutely no issue with such teams using alternate names, just like franchise teams do. But they should not be mistaken or presented as national representatives. A national team regardless of how strong or weak it may be at any point is the best possible side selected by official selectors. These teams in private leagues on the other hand are usually a mix of retired cricketers, often selected more for commercial appeal or personal networks than for sporting merit. They play largely for financial reasons or nostalgia, not to represent the nation in any official capacity.

As such, winning or losing these exhibition-style tournaments doesn’t carry any real national significance. It’s entertainment not international sport.

In 2007 icl, participant teams used country names . So at that time all the boards advised them to use add junk name as an addition when playing this kind of leagues. So the boards are asking to take out the country name all together now after this fiasco.

PCB expresses disappointment over WCL’s hypocrisy

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announces that it is issuing a blanket ban from future participation in the World Championship of Legends (WCL).

The PCB, during its 79th BoG meeting held virtually under the chairmanship of Mohsin Naqvi reviewed with considerable disappointment WCL’s appalling conduct of awarding points to a willfully forfeiting team, and the content of the press releases of the WCL announcing the cancellation of the scheduled India vs. Pakistan legends matches, which were tainted with hypocrisy and bias.

The contents of the said press releases highlight a duality where the narrative of “peace through sport” is selectively applied and sporting events are held hostage to political expediency and narrow commercial interests.

The PCB has always advocated for the separation of sports and politics. Our unwavering belief is that cricket, like other international sports, should solely serve as a platform for goodwill, healthy competition, and mutual respect. For a tournament involving legendary players to be dictated by sentiments that undermine this fundamental principle is not only regrettable but also deeply concerning for the future of independent sporting events.

The WCL’s apology for "hurting the sentiments", whilst being farcical, inadvertently acknowledges that the cancellation was not based on cricketing merit, but rather on succumbing to a specific nationalistic narrative. This bias, masquerading as sensitivity, sends an unacceptable message to the international sporting community.

In light of this unfortunate development, which underscores a clear and intolerable pattern of external influence and a disregard for the principles of sporting neutrality, the Pakistan Cricket Board is compelled to take a firm stance. The PCB can no longer condone participation in an event where the fundamental principles of fair play and unbiased administration are compromised by external pressures.

The PCB remains committed to promoting cricket globally and fostering healthy sporting rivalries. However, we cannot allow our players to be part of events where the spirit of the game is overshadowed by skewed politics that undermines the very essence of sportsmanship and the gentleman’s game.

The virtual BoG meeting was attended by Sumair Ahmed Syed, Salman Naseer, Zaheer Abbas, Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Sajjad Ali Khokhar, Zafarullah Jadgal, Tanveer Ahmed, Tariq Sarwar, Muhammad Ismail Qureshi, Anwaar Ahmad Khan, Adnan Malik, Usman Wahla (special invitee) and Mir Hassan Naqvi (Additional Secretary).
 
What WCL did wrong was giving India a point for forfeit. Why did India get a point for that (it knocked out England and West Indies)?

When a team forfeit, they are not supposed to get any point. That should be common sense.

Pakistan Champions owner Kamil Khan has expressed his frustration with the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) recent decision to ban his team from using the country’s name in future editions of the World Championship of Legends (WCL), he said:

“Just like the first season, Pakistan Champions performed really well in the second season too,”

“Unfortunately, we couldn’t win the final, which we really wanted to, and millions of Pakistanis were hoping for it as well. But the team played well throughout. One bad day doesn’t make a team bad. Losing one final doesn’t mean the Pakistan Champions is over,”

“We’ve seen reports that Pakistan Champions won’t be back, but I don’t know where that’s come from. If it’s from the PCB, then I’m not sure why,”

“This is our own team. I own it. It’s a private league, and I am the owner. PCB does not own the team. There are so many private leagues around the world; no one can stop us from naming our team after our country. Pakistan is our pride,”

“We took NOCs from the PCB for all the players,”

“In fact, we also met with Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who was supportive and helpful. I’m thankful to him for backing Pakistan Champions,”

“There was no contact from the PCB before or after the tournament,”

“This is our national identity. We named the team accordingly. We didn’t use PCB’s logo or any of their branding, only their players, and that too after securing official clearance,”
