[PICTURES] Was Virat Kohli's catch in the 2nd Test taken cleanly? Poor decision by the Umpire?

You don't expect any better from Australian fielders. This is considered #Elite Honesty in Australia. :srini

Kohli was given out while Elgar was given not out (over ruling umpire Ravi's on field decision). I am seriously confused. Vijay took a similar catch against Australia in the 2017 series, on field umpire gave soft signal as out and then 3rd umpire reversed the decision. I remember Aussie media had a field day after that calling Vijay a cheat which was below the belt. Exact same scenario in all 3 cases I can recall off the top of my head, yet don't understand how to arrive at a conclusion.

Seriously hope ICC clears up a few things, the decision making has to be uniform and not based on whims and fancies of the officials. These sort of decisions can be game changers as we found out in the Kohli and Elgar cases. I understand the 2D problem in the replays, but how to solve it?

Either give all such catches not out, thereby forcing the catcher to take an absolutely clean catch. Or give the catchers benefit of doubt. No half measures, present arrangement is annoying and we will keep getting into these tangles with 1 group always unhappy.

Can't say for sure, may be may not be but such is cricket. We had the wrong bowling combination and at a disadvantage batting second. Watching our batsmen bat these days I doubt we can chase 150 in 4th innings, especially against Lyon anywhere in Australia. So it all comes down to whether Kohli could have pushed himself that day to get close to a double century, we will never know.

I have made peace with the fact that we were beaten by a better team and that Kohli decision doesn't even bother me. We lost to Netherlands around that time in the hockey WC QF, to a large extent because of bad umpiring and that hurt me a lot more :(, so the Perth loss didn't even register in my head.

If this is not out so was Kohli's.

In both cases the home team got the decision againist asian teams.

Looks like there is a clear inconsistency with the 3rd umpires with regards to soft signal and overturning decisions. I agree both the Asian sides were hard done by. However for Pakistan it wouldn’t have mattered they still would have lost. But I reckon India would have won the match at Perth had Kohli stayed he looked in good touch.

Problem is that India have so many good batsmen, they can afford such lapses - team like Pakistan cannot!
