[PICTURES] Will the ICC monitor the curation of pitches for the World Cup or the ECB?

On the same green pitch Sri Lanka batted on New Zealand got their runs in 17 overs with 10 wickets to spare.

stop crying.

Both teams get to bat on the same pitch.

If 1 team is poor you cant blame the pitches then. Look at the Pakistan vs West Indies game. Chris Gayle made it look simple

You have to be good enough to play on such pitches like Gayle did.

Wickets NZ play at home are pretty similar to the one against Srl and the wicket in Trent Bridge for Pakistan match, WI was more at home as even against Eng when they toured WI, WI prepared pacy and bouncy wickets and there bowlers really make use of those.

Not saying result would have been different in both the matches but cant deny both those wickets suited one team more than the other.

again thats just pure complaining nothing else.

During the 2011 world cup, spin wicekts were given to the team and everyone had to bare with it.

Both teams are playing on the same wicket, if chasing is that easy tehn i suppose team batting first should out with a mind that they will score 150 runs.

Again, Chris Gayles batting is an example for everyone.

Trent Bridge wicket was not akin to 1985 WACA pitch. A team with a half decent batting lineup (i.e. not us) would've dealt with the short balls.

Is everyone happy with the pitches?

They seem sporting enough for the most part, there has been one or two which raised the eyebrows with very green surfaces compared to elsewhere, but mostly seem decent enough. Certainly not as flat as those we saw in the Eng/Pak series where everyone thought there was nothing in it for the bowlers.

We have seen some movement for the pace bowlers who are skilful enough to extract it, and we have seen turn for the spinners. Standard English wickets I would say.

I bet Junaid must be tearing his hair out seeing the wickets now, definitely more in it for the seamers than in the earlier series where he got flogged mercilessly.

You're saying as if Junaid would have done any better on these surfaces. Which aren't really bowler friendly either, but a bit better than bilateral belters.

Junaid's issue is bowling at 128-129kph with not as good control as Amir, neither that bowling intelligence, or the ability to move the ball at least off the seam.

He would've been carted around.

It's Shinwari who should be tearing his hair out

Early days but it will be interesting to see if England continue to get flat pitches while rest of the teams have to navigate through some tricky ones. Today's India-South Africa deck had a lot of life, a 250-270 pitch. I prefer such matches but hope even the hosts play on those surfaces.

England getting belters here, 3 games in a row mmm...

Flat pitches will leave a question mark over England's World Cup win

This is getting ridiculous. England has been getting a batting belter game after game. Everyone knows England has the best batting unit on such pitches. Playing on such pitches gives England almost a 100% chance of qualifying to the semi-finals. Then, it is a matter of winning just two games which will be most probably played on flat pitches as well. Pakistan vs India CT 2017 final was played on a high scoring pitch and I am pretty confident that similar tracks will be produced for both semi-finals and final.

So, the question is if England wins the world cup, will they get or deserve the same respect that the previous two world cup winners, Australia and India, got? No team has ever won a world cup on the basis of their batting alone. English bowling is so poor that none of their bowlers will make the current world XI.

What do you think?

All the pitches have been batting pitches, England have the best batting line up so if they win the WC, they deserve it as they currently have the best batting line up in the world.

This is the same pitch Pakistan played on the other day (with the added deterioration)...

People need to stop moaning about the pitches, it was a used pitch and there was a bit of spin on offer. It is just England's batting fire power which can make any pitch look like a road..

Is highscoring world cup a bore??

There is no competition between bat and ball, surely this isn't entertaining.

Honestly I even made a thread predicting borefests but , pitches by themselves have been excellent imo. The occasional run fest like today but also pitches where 240-280 are decent, defendable scores.

Credit where its due. Hopefully they keep it up and the knock outs arent a boring slog fest.

Neither there is seam movement nor there is swing, says Bumrah

World’s premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah on Thursday said the pitches in England used for white ball cricket are the “flattest tracks” he has ever bowled on as there is rarely any movement in the air or off the pitch.

Bumrah, one of the most important components in the Indian set-up, busted the myth about English conditions and tracks during an interaction with the media here.

No help for bowlers
“Whatever white ball cricket I have played so far, I felt the flattest wickets are those in England. There’s no help for the bowlers on these tracks,” he said.

“You see cloud cover and feel that the ball will swing but neither there is seam movement nor there is swing,” said Bumrah.

Bumrah said when playing in England the Indian bowling unit is always ready for the worst-case scenario and if some help is available, they treat it as bonus.

“You have to rely a lot on your accuracy and clarity. So that’s what we try to do. We know that wickets are flat in England and while bowling, we take that into consideration as the worst possible scenario. So if there is a bit of help, then adjustment becomes easy,” he said.

Bumrah, who bowled a lethal first spell against South Africa in India’s World Cup opener, feels the track at Southampton was a decent one first up but strokemaking became easier once the two new balls got a bit old.

“In the first game that we played here, there was some help with the new ball but it was a decent wicket. But as soon as the ball got older, it became better to bat on. (The) Oval was a batting wicket, where you saw 350 being scored,” he observed.

Bumrah feels that it is better to analyse the wicket on the match day and decide accordingly.

“But you don’t focus on these things. You see on a given day, what works for you. So quickly analyse the wicket and see if there’s no help, you go back to your strengths,” he said.

“When sometimes there is help, you try to swing the ball and take some wickets,” said the bowler, who has scalped five wickets from three games so far in the World Cup.

Bumrah also said opening the bowling with Mohammed Shami will hardly make a difference as all three (Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shami and him) have bowled together a lot of times.
