Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Auba will score goals and will do well at Barca, hes playing under a proper manager, rather then a clown at Arsenal with zero man management skills.

Gabon captain and Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has retired from international football, a fortnight before the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign begins.

The 32-year-old made a total of 68 appearances for the Panthers and scored 29 goals, making him the nation's all-time leading scorer.

The Gabon Football Federation (Fegafoot) said it had received a letter from Aubameyang announcing his decision.

"After 13 years of representing my country with pride, I would like to tell you that I am ending my international career," the former Arsenal star wrote.

"I would like to thank the Gabonese people and all those who have supported me in the good times as well as the bad ones.

"I will always have great memories like the day I made my debut, or the day I came back from Nigeria with the African Player of the Year award. Sharing it with everyone is an unforgettable moment.

"I want to thank my father who made me want to be like him and I hope I made him proud in wearing our colours."

In response, Fegafoot recognised his "immense career" and a player "who knew how to promote, thanks to his professionalism, the image of Gabon around the world".

"Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will always be model for future generations," the Fegafoot statement added.

"The big football family will be able to count on his expertise for the future."

Aubameyang was born in France and appeared for the French under-21 side but switched to play for Gabon to follow in the footsteps of his father, who captained the side at their first Nations Cup finals appearance in 1994.

He did not always enjoy a cordial relationship with Fegafoot, including in 2018 when he criticised the governing body for announcing his father would be the new national team coach before a deal had been finalised.

Aubameyang was on target on his international debut in a 2-1 win in Morocco in 2009, and featured at four Africa Cup of Nations finals for his country.

The striker was in Gabon's squad for this year's delayed 2021 Nations Cup but missed all of their games in Cameroon after initially contracting Covid-19 and then suffering from reported 'heart lesions'.

The Panthers start their qualifying campaign for the 2023 tournament in Ivory Coast away against DR Congo on 4 June before playing a second Group I game at home to Mauritania four days later.

Chelsea submit proposal to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona

Chelsea have submitted a proposal to sign striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona, The Athletic understands.

The Premier League side are believed to have offered £15million in a deal that would see left-back Marcos Alonso head the opposite way.

It is thought Barcelona have yet to respond to the approach, as they consider whether to part with a player who only joined in January from Arsenal.

Personal terms between Chelsea and the 33-year-old Gabon international are not likely to be an issue, should the clubs reach an agreement.

Barcelona coach Xavi wants to keep Aubameyang at the Nou Camp but his employers could allow a departure to help ease their financial problems.

Xavi’s counterpart at Chelsea, Thomas Tuchel, is determined to reunite with a forward he managed at Borussia Dortmund and the Stamford Bridge team are in need of a focal point to their attack.

While Aubameyang is known to be happy at Barcelona, if an exit does materialise then Chelsea are thought to be his first-choice destination.

The new ownership in west London have already invested heavily in their first transfer window and are also pursuing Everton winger Anthony Gordon and Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana.

Alonso has been courted throughout the summer and a part-exchange involving the 31-year-old Spain international is being suggested by Chelsea in an attempt to satisfy all parties.

Would be an excellent short term signing for chelsea and could do a job for 1 or 2 years until they get their primary striker target when they are available. He will score goals in Chelsea team.

Awful news and hope his family is ok.

Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has said he and his family do not feel safe in their home after a violent robbery on Monday.

Aubameyang, 33, also said he suffered a jaw injury during the incident.

Police are investigating the robbery in the town of Castelldefels, near to Barcelona.

"Violent cowards broke into our home and threatened my family and my children, just to steal some stuff," the former Arsenal striker said.

The Gabonese international, who has been linked with a move to Chelsea this summer, added on social media: "They injured my jaw but I will recover in no time.

"The feeling that we are no longer safe in our own home is hard to understand and describe, but as a family we will overcome this and stand stronger than ever.

"Thanks for all the support, it means the world to us."

Idiotic Arsenal could've transferred him for free with a clause. He's destined to score the winner against them

Chelsea have agreed a deal in principle worth £12m, plus defender Marcus Alonso, for Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to Guillem Balague.

Aubameyang scored 13 goals in 24 appearances for Barca after joining the Spanish club in February from Arsenal.

He had a buyout clause of 100m euros (£83.4m) in his contract, but has only played eight minutes this season.

The 33-year-old would be Chelsea's seventh summer signing.

The former Gabon international scored 92 goals in 163 games in all competitions for Arsenal, but left on a free transfer after falling out with manager Mikel Arteta.

That departure played a big part in the Gunners documentary All or Nothing.

Only four players have scored more Premier League goals than Aubameyang's total of 68 in the period since 31 January 2018 - the date he joined Arsenal.

Aubameyang worked with Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel at Borussia Dortmund between 2015 and 2017.

He scored 79 goals in 95 games under the German, 38 more than he netted under any other manager.

This summer the Blues have brought in French defender Wesley Fofana for a fee in the region of £70m, England forward Raheem Sterling from Manchester City for £50m, Senegal defender Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli for £34m, English midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka from Aston Villa for £20m, Spain left-back Marc Cucurella from Brighton for £60m and Italian midfielder Cesare Casadei from Inter Milan.

A deal for Aubameyang would mean Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly will have spent almost £250m in his first transfer window since buying the club from Roman Abramovich.

Chelsea sign forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona

Chelsea have signed forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in a £10.3m deal from Barcelona and Juventus midfielder Denis Zakaria on loan.

Gabon striker Aubameyang, 33, scored 13 goals in 24 appearances for Barca after joining the Spanish club in February from Arsenal.

Left-back Marcos Alonso has left Chelsea by mutual consent and is expected to sign for Barcelona.

Chelsea have the option to sign Zakaria on a permanent deal.

The 25-year-old Switzerland international only joined Juve from Borussia Monchengladbach in January.

When Aubameyang signed for Barca he had a buyout clause of 100m euros (£83.4m) in his contract, but has only played eight minutes this season. Barcelona have been looking to offload players after spending almost £200m on new arrivals despite being more than £1bn in debt.

The deal for Aubameyang means Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly has spent around £270m in his first transfer window since buying the club from Roman Abramovich - the highest amount any English club has spent in a single transfer window.

Aubameyang said: 'I'm really happy. It's an honour to be part of this team and I can't wait to start. I have some unfinished business with the Premier League so it's good to be back and really exciting.'

Boehly said: 'Pierre-Emerick is an elite striker with a proven track record in the Premier League and his arrival strengthens our squad, giving us new attacking options. We are thrilled to have Pierre-Emerick on board with us in the new era at Chelsea and we're really looking forward to working with him.'

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has backed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to "create his own history" in the number nine jersey at Stamford Bridge.

Aubameyang, 33, joined the Blues for £10.3m from Barcelona on deadline day.

The Gabon striker, who also played under Tuchel at Borussia Dortmund, will wear the number nine shirt left vacant by Romelu Lukaku following the Belgian's return to Inter Milan.

"Auba is not afraid of the past and what a number means," said Tuchel.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang makes Chelsea debut but is subbed off after 59 minutes

Chelsea’s new star forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang praised current PSG boss Christophe Galtier for turning him into a prolific goalscorer during a difficult time in his career.

Over the summer, the 33-year-old returned to the Premier League after completing his deadline day move from Barcelona to Chelsea.

The transfer marked Aubameyang’s first return to England since his sour departure from Arsenal.

The Gabon international left the club after a falling out with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta over disciplinary issues.

After leaving London, Aubameyang joined Barcelona, though his stay at Camp Nou proved short-lived. After just six months, the club bought Robert Lewandowski, leaving little room for the former Arsenal and Dortmund ace.

A move to Chelsea followed, with the player already making two appearances in the Champions League.

Aubameyang is now poised to make his Premier League debut for the Blues on Saturday against Crystal Palace.

In an interview with teammate Wesley Fofana, the striker revealed some of the issues he faced early on in his career.

The player praised current PSG boss Galtier who helped turn him into a natural goalscorer during their time together at Saint-Etienne.

Speaking on Chelsea’s YouTube channel, he said: “I’ve been through a lot of bad moments. I mean, not injury. At the beginning of my career, everyone was talking about me like a sprinter only. You know, this hurts sometimes because you know where you come from.

“You know that you went through a lot of stuff and you always try your best. Some people, even from your club, they say that you are not good at playing football.

“After that I changed my mind and when I arrived at Saint-Etienne I was happy because Christophe Galtier, at that time, gave me the confidence and it changed everything in my career and this is where I started scoring goals.”

Aubameyang moved to Arsenal in January 2018, meaning he has spent the majority of the last four years in London.

Speaking about his time in the capital, he added: “What I like about London is there are a lot of clubs. The rivalry between clubs is crazy. Always the London derbies… I love the atmosphere in the stadium.”

Next weekend’s away clash against Palace will be Aubameyang’s first London derby since signing for the Blues.

Interestingly, his first home derby will take place on November 6 when his former employers Arsenal arrive at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea boss Graham Potter has praised the way forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang dealt with a violent robbery in his home in the summer.

The Gabon forward suffered a broken jaw during the incident which happened at his home near Barcelona just before he joined Chelsea from the Spanish club.

Potter became Chelsea manager last month and said he has been impressed with the former Arsenal striker.

"He wouldn't be human if it didn't affect him," Potter said.

"We're here to support but I think the best thing for him is to play football, to put the incident behind him as quickly as possible and feel comfortable and happy. I think he feels that here. He has acted really professionally, I have been really impressed with him.

"[The burglary] was fairly horrific to be honest. You are talking about something that isn't particularly nice where the family are concerned.

"But I can only act on how he behaves and he has been perfect."

Speaking at the time, Aubameyang, 33, who has played three times in the Premier League this season, described how "violent cowards" broke into his home adding: "The feeling that we are no longer safe in our own home is hard to understand and describe, but as a family we will overcome this and stand stronger than ever."

Chelsea play AC Milan on Wednesday at Stamford Bridge as Potter looks to get his first win in the Champions League after a 1-1 draw with Red Bull Salzburg last month. Chelsea lost their opening match in this season's competition at Dinamo Zagreb under previous boss Thomas Tuchel.

Aubameyang fails to shine against former side

This was Aubameyang's first appearance against his former side, but the Gabon striker had a disappointing afternoon, only touching the ball eight times.

He had joined Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018 for a then club-record fee of £60m and spent four years with the Gunners, scoring 92 goals in 163 appearances in all competitions, including both goals in a 2-1 win over Chelsea in the 2020 FA Cup final at Wembley.

However, he was stripped of the Arsenal captaincy by Mikel Arteta in December 2021 following "disciplinary breaches", before he left for Barcelona on a free transfer and then moved to Chelsea in September.

He would have been keen to impress, but only touched the ball four times in the first half as he was excellently contained by Arsenal's central defensive pairing of Gabriel and William Saliba.

Indeed, Aubameyang's only real involvement in the opening 45 minutes saw him pick up the game's first yellow card for a mistimed sliding challenge on right-back White.

Despite the best chances in the first half falling to the visitors, the hosts did register the only attempt on target - Kai Havertz weakly shooting at Aaron Ramsdale when played in by Raheem Sterling from the right wing.

Aubameyang continued to be on the fringes and had only added another four touches of the ball before he was taken off after 63 minutes.

His replacement Armando Broja also failed to have a shot on target on a disappointing afternoon for a lacklustre Chelsea.

Pierre-Emerick Aubemayang’s future has been placed into further doubt after the striker suffered the humiliation of being omitted from Chelsea’s 25-man Champions League squad.

That guy is a fraud. He was nothing but a pace merchant in his prime, and now that his pace is gone, he is finished as a footballer. I don't rate pace merchants like Aubameyang at all.

Auba will score goals and will do well at Barca, hes playing under a proper manager, rather then a clown at Arsenal with zero man management skills.

Aubameyang got kicked out of Barcelona and will now get kicked out of Chelsea after getting axed from the Chelsea CL squad.

He will soon find himself at a mid-table club or perhaps at a top club in a small league and have no relevance, while the clown with zero man management skills will win the league.

You don’t need rival fans when you have such ignorant and clueless fans. Arteta was always right to force Aubameyang out. He was proved right and he won.

Frank Lampard has outlined how Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang can earn his place back in the Chelsea team.

The forward has endured a frustrating season since joining the Blues last summer, scoring just three goals all campaign.

With his last effort coming on October 11, it’s clear that the former Arsenal star has struggled to hit the heights that he set in north London.

Aubameyang had played just seven minutes of first team football for Chelsea since January before Lampard came in as caretaker boss, a move that may have given the Gabon international a lifeline in west London.

After playing 23 minutes against Wolves last week, it’s been suggested that Aubameyang could be in line to play a more central role in Chelsea’s run-in, something that Lampard hasn’t ruled out.

Asked what role Aubameyang could play against Brighton at the weekend, Lampard said: “We’ll see.

“The players have to feel when they train and how they prepare, the competitive nature in the squad to get a place in the team needs to be high.

“You have to compete in training. History says he has a fantastic goal scoring record.”

Aubameyang’s reintroduction could be well needed with Chelsea on a run of four matches without a goal.

In fact, Chelsea’s tally of 29 goals in the Premier League this season is one less than Manchester City’s goal-machine Erling Haaland, who has bagged 30 in the league.

Without a proven number nine in their ranks, Aubameyang will be hoping that he can help the Blues to achieve their goals this term as they look to finish a disappointing season on a positive.

Chelsea caretaker manager Frank Lampard says he could consider selecting Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang against Arsenal due to the ‘certain motivation’ he will have playing against his former club.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who was stripped of the Arsenal captaincy by Mikel Arteta before leaving the club during his spell at the Emirates, made just his second appearance for Chelsea since February in the loss to Brentford on Wednesday.

Chelsea have scored just one goal in their past seven games. Aubameyang, 33, was frozen out by Graham Potter and has scored one goal in 14 Premier League games this season.

"Auba [Aubameyang] has been a tough one for me because I've got complete respect for him as a player," said Lampard. "He's scored 300 and whatever goals in his career.

"He couldn't play the two Madrid games for me because he was not in the squad, he came on against Wolves (a 1-0 defeat) and for a number nine particularly, to be sharp and to be playing regularly is key.

"To see him train, when we haven't had big minutes for training, in the last few days I've seen him be able to train, so he was in my thinking for [Brentford] anyway.

"He certainly has the profile of a number nine. We don't have that elsewhere in the squad. So I did see a difference."

Chelsea are reportedly facing the prospect of letting Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leave on a free transfer this summer.

The striker joined the Blues on a two-year deal last summer from Barcelona for around £12million.

However, Aubameyang has failed to make an impact at the club, scoring just three goals all season.

He seems likely to leave the west London side at the end of the campaign as Chelsea prepare for a mass clear-out.

The Telegraph report that Chelsea might have to let Aubameyang leave on a free transfer.

A return to Barcelona could be on the cards for the 33-year-old, with Atletico Madrid and AC Milan also potential new clubs for him.

However, they are all said to be ‘unlikely’ to pay a fee for him this summer, with Chelsea potentially having to cut their losses.

Aubameyang made his first start for the club since November in the Blues’ 3-1 defeat against Arsenal on Tuesday night.
