Seems that everyone, including the comms are talking about this as this is a new discovery! Surely this is not a new thing in England but why is it such a surprise for England bowlers? I can understand the tourists wondering about it but sounds strange England bowlers just discovering this :)

I think coz england bowlers particularly broad and anderson have got into the bad habit of bowling back of a length or short because they dont want to go for runs and dry up the runs but with that tactic it does reduce your chances of getting wickets as a pacer in england

Well some part of it is to with weather conditions too

The pundits bring this topic up every English summer. Nothing new.

Easier said than done. Pitch it too far up and you will get driven. Finding the uncertain length where batsmen can neither go forward or backward is a skill that takes years to develop because it requires testing. And it's different for every bowler. It also varies from pitch to pitch.

Not really, England have bowled back of a length for a couple of decades at least. I remember shouting at the telly for DeFreitas to pitch it up.

The mystery is why bowlers seem to forget this EVERY summer!

Jimmy doesn't to be fair. He normally gives the ball every chance to swing, but at Lord's he looked lost and frustrated, then again the bowlers had a tiny target to bowl at and that could affect anyone.
