What an awful lower order all for the sake of professor

Sarfraz has done so well at 4 , it will be a black mark on his captaincy if he plays at 6. If professor has to play then make him play at 6. Off course his senior tag makes him exalted

I wouldn't mind Hafeez if he played at 6. He is a better hitter than Sarfraz and Imad.

In the context of the squad I wouldn't mind that either but professor is a senior and so we must kiss his feet and bat him at the top 4 at the expense of sarfraz

I don't think Hafeez will play T20Is.

Even in ODIs, I don't see Mickey moving Babar from #3.

I'm pretty sure Babar will open in T20Is as that's what he did for Karachi under Arthur.

Shadab Khan batting behind Amir and Wasim?

MoHa at his desired spot, rest 10 will be adjusted accordingly. If his highness wishes to bat at 3, it's Babar's misfortune.

Shadab Khan batting behind Amir and Wasim?

Both of them have scored multiple 50s in ODIs, so yeah why not?

Also, I don't want Shadab to turn into a bits and pieces player. Especially as a leggie, he has to focus on his bowling first.

At least our tail is strong this way. Much better than 3 odd years ago, when we had: 9. Ajmal, 10. Junaid and 11. Irfan.

I don't think you know but up until a few years ago Shadab was a batsman first.

And many see more potential in his batting than bowling.

Unlike Amir and Wasim, Shadab looks a genuine bat.

If he is a genuine bat, then he should bat in the Top 5. That will NEVER happen in the near future, especially with the TTF brigade that has been selected for this tour.

It's not about what Shadab was or wants to be, it's team first because this is a team sport. This team needs a leg-spinner and that is the role he should fill.

And your bias continues.

Anyone with a pair of eyes can see that Shadab is a more talented batsman than Wasim and Amir.

Do you think a talented youngster like Shadab should bat at 6/7 or at 9/10.

Ideally 8 - that's the best position of a bowling all-rounder. If he is batted higher, he'll think himself as batsman & loose focus on bowling - result Afridi. If he is played lower, he'll lose focus on batting like Akram, but won't end-up like Akram.

He must play for 10 overs, then try to contribute with bat.

sarfarz has batted mainly at 5 so our openers need to get on with it. no point sarfaraz coming in 40th over.
but it is number 5 where he has made his runs

I know you copy/pasted my line-up and then made a few changes, buddy. :sarf :yk

He has played well at 4 as well, the reason id have him there rather than 5 is because he is more compact then Malik, and Malik is better at slogging vs pacers. However this is a minor issue, if they are both 4 and 5 doesnt matter whoes where

I don't care much about T20's but here's what I am thinking for ODIs . .

Here is what absolutely shouldn't change in my opinion . . the rest needs to be constructed around this:

1.)
2.)
3.) Babar Azam
4.) Shoaib Malik (Accumulate . . milk the spinners . . best place for him . . his aggressor role at 6 doesn't work)
5.) Sarfaraz Ahmed (Best strike rotator in the team . . can't be any lower than 5)
6.)
7.)
8.)
9.) Amir
10.) Wahab
11.) Hasan

Now . . I think 7 and 8 should be taken up by Imad and Shadab respectively.
Leaving what I think is the BIGGEST problem in Pakistan's ODI cricket . . Which is a good number 6! In the squad that has been selected, I can only see Hafeez who can play that role . . however bad that is . . but the other numbers CAN NOT change to accommodate that role . . if Hafeez is unwilling to play at that number, then he needs to go out . . the otehr way you can do this is ask Kamran Akmal to play at number 6

Opening . . I personally haven't yet liked Fakhar Zaman . . but to be honest . . he deserves his chance . . but then Ahmed Shehzad had a stellar One day cup back home . . and Kamran Akmal has deserved his chance after 2 phenomenal years . .

NUMBER 6 is where the trouble really is at!!

I can't remember another squad in recent memory where it has been so abundantly clear what the starting 11 will be.

1. K Akmal
2. A Shahzad
3. B Azam
4. M Hafeez
5. S Malik
6. S Ahmed
7. I Wasim
8. S Khan
9. H Ali
10. W Riaz
11. S Tanvir/R Raees for T20 and M Amir for ODI

Many issues with this team, but lets see how they perform. I fear they are about to turn Shadab into a slogger for quick runs at the death in the absence of anyone else who is capable.

You can not put Hafeez out side the team. You may like or not but PCB do.

My team for odi, but very unlikely the management will play this :

1. Shehzad
2. Fakhar Zaman
3. Babar Azam
4. Malik
5. Sarfaraz (c) (wk)
6. K Akmal
7. Shadab Khan
8. Imad Wasim

Absolutely wont happen. Plus, when Kamran Akmal fails, people and he himself, will complain that his batting position was too low, he needs to be in the top order, not as a keeper, wearing a medium sized shirt and the weather has to precisely 26.5 degrees for him to be at his optimal performance and the selectors will be forced to pick him again.

You forgot that the winds have to be precisely 10 km/hr in a north-westernly direction and the pitch has to be a certain tinge of yellow and beige. All the toilet lids in the stadium need to be in the upright position and there should be pin drop silence when the bowler is coming in to bowl.

If any of these criteria are not met then he should be given "just three more chances"

Here is the perfect starting 11 in WI
T20:
Ahmed Shehzad
Babar Azam (sr is a concern so he should just open for now)
Kamran Akmal
Shoaib Malik
Sarfraz Ahmed
Fakhar Zaman
Shadab Khan
Imad Wasim
Hassan Ali
Wahab Riaz
Rumman Raees

ODI:
Ahmed Shehzad
Kamran Akmal
Babar Azam
Shoaib Malik
Sarfraz Ahmed
Fakhar Zaman (Hafeez is also an option at 6...i would play Zaman ahead of him)
Shadab Khan
Imad Wasim
Mohammad Amir
Hasan Ali
Junaid Khan (i would give Asif Zakhir a chance in one of the games in place of Junaid)

In the end all have the same issue which is what to do with Hafeez...

I think if MA plays hafeez , he will expose hafeez weakness even more...

The man who dropped aging Pollock who was better player in all aspects compared to Hafeez . will give a nod to hafeez highly unlikely...

I believe hafeez will open with kamran... whoever fail first will be dropped for shehzad in which i expect kami to fail first then hafeez...

hope hafeez has a terrible series which is highly likely to happen only if he opens or bat at 3... hopefully no hafeez for CT2017...

KAMRAN
SHEHZAD
HAFEEZ

If these 3 continuously fail in top 3 in WI then it is good for pak in the future... i hope azhar ali and haris sohail will return for CT2017 as openers..

Don't think there is a better team than this for the first couple of matches.

couldn't see any other odd squad thread, so now its announced...

can anyone explain what, who and how the two players fahim Ashraf and asif Zakir got into the squad? just checked their stats, asif looks ok in terms of record but has had a poor run of form, I can't see much of note in fahim's stats other than a strike rate under 30 although thats only on 34 games.

I suppose depending on the t20 series its likely to be:

1. Kakmal
2. Shehzad
3. Fakhar(/hafeez if fakhar plays even worse than hafeez in the t20s)
4. Babar
5. Malik
6. Sarfraz
7. Imad
8. Shadab
9. Amir
10. Hasan Ali
11. Junaid

leaving: asif, faheem, asghar, wahab and one of fakhar/hafeez.

My hopes: Sarfraz picks an unchanged team for the next game. All of the TTFs fail. Kamran and Hafeez both score under 20 runs. Wahab and Tanvir both give up over 36 runs.

Youngsta beuty :afridi XI for the last two T20Is:

Shehzad
Zaman
Azam
Malik
Sarfraz*+
Wasim
Nawaz
Shadab
Hasan
Raees
Shinwari

haha guys if it was all about these TTF's failing then they would have been kicked out of the team long back. SO there's no point in giving these TTFs a chance again and again and hopefully they fail and will be exposed, nothing is going to happen and you will still see the same faces for the champions trophy, and its all due to timid board
Cmon PCB, do you have guts to prove me wrong, field a team of all youngsters and kick these TTFs like kamran and hafeez out for their own good.
