Plight of Hindus in Bangladesh after coup

Didn't Indians attack and destroy Babri Mosque? Did BJP Indians condemn that like we Bangladeshis condemned alleged attacks on innocent Hindus?

BJP Indians also didn't have the decency to condemn Israeli bombings of Palestinian women and children.
This is your response for what is happening to Hindus in your country?

So the BD Hindus had temples erected on demolished mosques, that is why those temples were attacked.

And since you are comparing it with Palestine, the Hindus of BD are Israelis or the Palestinians in this comparison?

I know you will avoid this because you have no answer.

Unrest among Bangladeshi Hindus continues, 2 minority groups to meet chief adviser Yunus today

Amid the ongoing political unrest and protests, minority communities including the Hindus in Bangladesh live in fear of being "targetted". Today, two groups representing the minorities -- Hindu, Buddhist, Christian Unity Council and Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad -- will meet head of the interim government chief advisor Muhammad Yunus. This meeting is keenly anticipated given that at least 205 incidents of attacks on members of Hindu community have been reported in 52 districts since the fall of the Hasina government on August 5, The Indian Express' Shubhajit Roy who is currently in Dhaka has learnt.

Interim govt on India-Bangladesh ties: In the new interim government's first diplomatic engagement on Monday, the Foreign Affairs adviser Md Touhid Hossain said that bilateral ties are "not be influenced by the presence of one individual in a country". He was referring to former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's stay in New Delhi since August 5 after she resigned and fled the country amid protests and widespread violence. Hossain made the statement during a briefing post the new interim government's first formal meeting with the opposition BNP since its formation.

What does the BNP say? The BNP is giving the interim government time to create a "suitable environment for elections", BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said following a discussion with the interim government's chief adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus, Dhaka Tribune reported. Meanwhile, Yunus has said the high-profile resignations of authorities close to ousted Hasina are legal after student leaders who organised protests against Hasina's government issued ultimatums for them to quit. “Legally ... all the steps were taken,” he said. Bangladesh's chief justice, five justices and central bank governor have all resigned in the past week.

Everytime something like happens, there are large portions of Indians who support and condemn.

It is one of the pain points of these bjp Indians , but that's the character of the country.

And you are not dissimilar to those BjP Indians, same style , different group.

Humans are fools who follows old philosophies like religion and are willing to kill for the same

So much fake videos & stories from Hindutva trolls it’s hard to know if any is real .
Well, hard evidence is that hindu population in both Bangladesh and Pakistan has gone down over the years.

So there is definitely some targeted assault on them.

So if you had to believe, believe the assault narrative and try to increase pressure on Bangladesh to stop killing their own people.

Only AL Jazeera is the true News portal. The rest are all fake.

Hindus coming to the border and trying to crossover into India are just fake.

All is well in BD. (y)
A fake video posted on here hours ago , which you believed .

India, for all its issues, does a commendable job being secular and impartial considering the kind of religious, language, and cultural diversity it has.

Bangladesh and pakistan are looking for homogeneity and hence have a reason to eradicate other communities, as evident, in the decreasing population.

I am talking about hard facts, not some propaganda story..

It’s not just the decades of attacks but the nature of them , including gang rape , torture etc . RSS extremism sadly has a lot of assaults against women & young girls too. Heck rss members have openly called for this !

There are extremists in all lands but in terms of sheer numbers of attacks on minorities India wins a gold medal 🥇 this time .
English may not be your first language but I wrote attacked for both . However since independence tens of thousands of minorities inc Christians have been killed in violence aims at them by majority Hindus. Sure some Hindus died in these conflicts but a majority religion has been attacking minorities since the father of India Ghandi was still walking around with his stick .

Here are some of the major incidents, we’d be here longer than 10 Bollywood movies in detailing them all. This from a recent year .

Any time a Dalit attacked, it must be because he is a dalit. There are many people that get attacked in India and die everyday. No one cares the caste of the perpetrator or the victim. But if the victim is a Dalit, it gets highlighted.

First you said, hundreds of Dalits and Muslims get killed every year by Upper Caste Hindus. You could not prove that. Then you moved the goalpost by saying it is since Independence.

Look at some of the attacks you have mentioned.

Security officials attack a Tribal girl in Naxalite search operation. If you are participating in helping Naxals, these things happen. She was not killed because she was Tribal. She was killed because she was part of the Naxals.

What is laughable is the links you have provided. Some unknown sites.

Sure some get wrongfully killed. Many upper caste people also get killed by bad police. But no one cries and point out the caste. One of my childhood friend who was a Brahmin has reportedly joined Naxals in Chattisgarh. No one knew how and why he took that route. I came to know a few years ago that he got killed in one of the anti naxal operations by CRPF. I could not dare visit his house when I visited India. I knew his parents very well.

What kind of links are you providing? SabrangIndia.in, cjp.org? They are far left, pro naxal and anti-hindu websites. Not sure why you are browsing those shady websites. You are scraping the bottom of the barrel now. :ROFLMAO:

You have to provide News from more credible outlets.

lol hard facts ? Every year hundreds if not tens of thousands of minorities are attacked . Hindus even lynch fellow Hindus known as untouchables even if they worship the same god or idol .

You’re only fooling yourself

India has a popular of 1.4B
That means, overall issues happen to less than 0.01% of the population, which should be within the error margin considering India is a diversity filled developing country with still the mental scars and backwardness of foreign rule.

What is important is the track record since independence and being republic.

The fact is , in India, the popular of all minorties have increased over the years. Do you disagree with it?
What does that tell you?

Why has the population of minorities fallen Pakistan and Bangladesh? What does that tell you.

Oops. Seems I entered the wrong thread. As it has now turned as plight of Dalits in India after Coup in Bangladesh.

Can we stay on topic and talk about Bangladesh coup and hindus there.

Things have calmed down in Bangladesh.

First few days were a bit wild. But, it seems like most of those attacks were done by Awami League people to get India involved. But, that didn't work.

Anyway, after interim government was formed, things are getting under control. Bangladeshi people are trying to protect innocent Hindus now.

The stuff which happened in Bangladesh also happen in India often. Indians shouldn't act like their country have no riots.

India does not play with anarchy and crowd behaviour.

India is a responsible democratic country that "really tries" to enforce the constitution and laws of land for its governance.

We do not allow the people to get swayed by crowd behaviour and topple the very fundamentals of the country.

Bangladesh didn't have democracy. It turned into a one party dictatorship. So, people had to overthrow Hasina.

I know Indians like Hasina because she is their little agent but most Bangladeshis wanted her gone.

Since Hasina wasn't allowing a fair election, overthrowing her was necessary.

LOL.

Did you write that with a straight face?

Who destroyed the Babri mosque? Koreans?
Yeah, it is the same as over throwing a constitutional government.

I am talking about overall governance, not the outliers, which can happen to anyone.

Having a regular government who can be relied upon to stand guard for you, not some flukey administration

Are you implying Hasina was running a constitutional government? LOL.

She was running a one party dictatorship backed by India.

Anyway, she is gone now. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

But sweep_shot bro didn't you say earlier Indian posters should stop doing whataboutitsums. And you keep doing it.

Far-right spreads false claims about Muslim attacks in Bangladesh

The videos are shocking: buildings burning, horrifying violence and women weeping as they plead for help.

They are - the people sharing them say - proof of a “Hindu genocide” happening in Bangladesh in the wake of the sudden fall of the country’s long-time leader, Sheikh Hasina.

Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, who uses the name Tommy Robinson – a British far-right activist who has been criticised for making inflammatory posts during the UK riots – has got involved, sharing videos along with dark warnings.

But we found that many of the videos and claims shared online are false.

False claim of Hindu temple attack

Bangladesh has been in the headlines for weeks: student-led protests which left more than 400 dead culminated with the government falling and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fleeing to India on 5 August.

Celebrations escalated into violent unrest, with rioters targeting members of her ruling Awami League party which is made up of both Hindu and Muslim members.

And while reports on the ground have found violence and looting impacted Hindu people and properties, far-right influencers in neighbouring India shared false videos and information that gave a misleading view of the events.

They claimed to show communal violence against Hindus purportedly carried out by “Islamist radicals” with a violent agenda.

One viral post claimed to show a temple set on fire by “Islamists in Bangladesh”.

However, BBC Verify has determined that this building, identified as the Navagraha Temple in Chittagong, was undamaged by the incident which actually occurred at a nearby Awami League party office.

Pictures obtained by the BBC after the fire show debris of posters with Awami League members’ faces.

“On 5 August, there was an attack on the Awami League office premises behind the temple in the afternoon,” Swapan Das, a staff member at the temple, told BBC Verify. “They took the furniture outside and set fire to it.”

Mr Das added that although the temple was not attacked on the day, the situation remains tense and the temple has been shut with people guarding it round-the-clock.

This is far from the only story shared, most under the same hashtag, which has had nearly a million mentions since 4 August, according to social media monitoring tool Brandwatch. Accounts that were mostly geolocated to India drove the trend.

Other viral posts which have since been debunked include a claim that a Bangladeshi Hindu cricketer’s home had been burned down. BBC Verify has established the house in fact belongs to a Muslim MP from the Awami League.

Then there was the school that burned down, which the BBC visited. Again, the reasons behind the attack appear to be political rather than religious.

All of these posts have been shared by multiple accounts, many of which support Hindu-nationalist values.

Inter-religious strains have been present in Bangladesh for many decades, says Professor Sayeed Al-Zaman, an expert in hate speech and disinformation in Bangladesh.

Following the hasty departure of Sheikh Hasina, matters have come to a head once again, “as Hindus felt insecure in the absence of the government and effective law and order”, says Prof Al-Zaman.

The false narratives have made the situation worse. “Fear-mongering by these influencers is inflaming the tension.”

Global spread

Some of these posts falsely claiming that Hindus have been targeted by Muslims have been shared by accounts far removed from either Bangladesh or India.

Tommy Robinson who has been criticised for posting inflammatory messages about the violent riots targeting Muslims and immigrants across the UK, has been sharing unverified videos from Bangladesh, where he says there is “a genocide on Hindus”.

We have investigated one video shared by him. It shows a woman pleading for her husband’s life as her home is attacked. The post falsely claims the property is being targeted by “Islamists”. The original video was shared on 6 August, onde day after the property had been attacked.

However, when the BBC investigated the story behind the video, a different narrative emerged.

We were told by a group of local students who had assisted the woman in defending her property that the dispute was about an entirely different matter. They shared photos and videos of the clean-up with the BBC which show the property as seen in the original video. The Hindu temple inside the property is unharmed.

“The conflict is about ownership of land. A case was filed long ago,” a student told us. A case has been in local courts about the ownership of the land for nearly six months.

We’ve spoken to other people in the local area who’ve told us that the attack was not religiously motivated and that the perpetrators were a mix of Hindu and Muslim people. They also reported that other Hindu families and temples in the area weren’t affected.

Tommy Robinson did not respond to our request for comment.

Working out exactly what has happened in Bangladesh over the last few weeks has proved difficult.

Many real incidents and attacks have taken place across the country, but the motivations are difficult to assess: religion or politics.

The two are closely entwined: one Hindu resident explained how the minority are largely viewed as supporters of Sheikh Hasina’s secular Awami League party.

AFP fact-checker for Bangladesh, Qadaruddin Shishir, told the BBC that there have been attacks on Hindu-owned properties.

But, he said, “right-wing Indian accounts are spreading these politically motivated attacks as religious ones.”

Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council, a non-profit established to protect minority human rights, reported five Hindu people killed. Two have been confirmed as Awami League members.

The AFP has put the count of Muslim Awami League leaders’ who have been killed at more than 50.

Student protesters defend Hindu temples

When false claims about attacks on Hindus went viral online, some Muslim protesters decided to guard Hindu temples.

“It’s our responsibility to protect them,” said Moinul, who stood watch last week in front of a temple in Hatharazi, outside of Chittagong.

Viral social media posts were trying to “incite conflict between Hindus and Muslims,” said Moinul. “But we are not falling for it.”

Choton Banik, a local Hindu in the area who attended the temple, asked that they continue their effort “through this critical time.”

“I hope that we will continue to live together in this independent Bangladesh in the future,” he said.

Wonder why BD hindus are protesting and the interim head has to ask people to stop violence against minorities. It is all fake, of course.

Everything is fake and propaganda that goes against Islamic extremism.
Old trick. They will pick one fake news and use it to insinuate that everything is fake. Deflection and deception tactics. Because some of the news are fake, therefore the real oppression is not happening. Diverting the attention from the fundamental issue that needs to be highlighted, to what is tertiary.

So many temples were demolished in Bangladesh as revenge attack for that. BD muslims have always been punishing BD hindus.

If bengali Hindus didn't learn their lesson in 1946 and continued to believe in the words of these Muslims, nothing can be done.

They should have pushed for a separate non muslim homeland in 1971.

It's time to just say things like it is. When muslims are in the majority they will make life difficult for any non Muslims (sub continent specifically)..

It is not a human issue this, let's be realistic here: Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshis mostly share similar genetic make up. Despite India having plenty of problems why has the muslim population increased dramatically there while the muslim majority west and east of the Indian sub continent has seen their minority population go down and see them struggling to survive. This may have something to do with Islam the religion, could be some of the teachings be it from the Hadiths or Quran...

There will be no hope for non Muslims in Pakistan or Bangladesh and that is just life, sad as it may but nothing can be done about it.

P.S. awaiting some keen replies from muslim Pakistanis and Bangladeshis about how Muslims are struggling to survive in India...

Thread is not about Babari Masjid or Ram Mandir. Thanks
Its only relevance to the thread is that there was anti hindu violence in Bangladesh during babri masjid. So hindus in Bangladesh have been punished because they are seen as extention of indian hindus, and not as bangladeshis.

What we see now is just the continuation of it. Nothing out of the ordinary. It is in the DNA of the country.

Don't bring in Hadeeth and Quran her unless you have proper knowledge about them. If the muslims had followed Quran and Hadeeth properly every single non-muslim would be safe. Non-Muslims in an Islamic country are free to practice their own religion and express their religious views. However, just like Muslims, they are also bound by blasphemy laws.

There will always be ignorant people who misinerpret religious teachings in their own favour and hence exercise actions clearly opposing the true teachings.

Anywhere there is a conflict between muslims and non-muslims, it is always the muslims are at fault irrespective of how media like Al Jazeera/Al Qaeda or whatever their name is try to potray. That is the post..
#FACT

If India was a muslim majority, there would be very little non Muslims around and the ones that are alive would be struggling to survive....

India would also be a broke or economically poor/politically unstable country...
It seems Islam when mixed with people of the sub continent is setup for failure...

Govt of India must step in here.
And why?

You want us to do thekedaari of entire hindu community?

Where has Pakistan ended up with their thekedaari of Muslims?

The government of India has stopped visas.

Next they should start deporting any Bangladeshi in India. It will face resistance at two places, Political in India and BDR.

Tell the ordinary people about what BD is doing to Hindus. Create hostility towards them, so much so that no one tries to stop their deportation.

Let the BSF handle the deportation at the border. Don't put any leash on them.

Two is easy. One is difficult.

Are you denying that Bharat is the birthplace of Sanatan and the homeland of Hindus anywhere in the world?

Pakistan made the same mistake of thinking they are the thekedaars of the Muslim Ummah. Look where they are now.

Pakistan is not the homeland of Islam and they never had the right intentions so why are you giving their example.

When have Pakistanis talked about Uygher Muslims in China?

We have a responsibility to Sanatanis of this world being the homeland

Hindus are indeed pathetic. Even if a Hindu is being slaughtered next door they will say so what it’s not my family. This is why we are in this situation today. Sanatan was received by Modi ji but these cowards cannot be revived

You really think there is an Ummah in actuality? The funniest thing here is a lot of Arabs look down on a lot of muslim converts from the sub continent lol...

Israel wouldn't have been able to treat the Palestinians the way they have been treating them since the last 79 odd years if the Ummah actually existed.

Sadly it's because of Modis failed foreign policy in Bangladesh that Bangladeshi Hindus are being treated in this way. They are wrongly seen as Modis men and foreign agents rather than Bangladeshi citizens.

He can't clean up the mess he himself has created.

Best way to clean this up is for Modi to publicly apologize, fess up to his failed foreign policy, and maybe wash the feet of some Bangladeshis as atonement.

But he won't do that because he doesn't care about Hindus he just says things for power.

They are whining about Ummah and cracking jokes while their brothers are being eradicated next door.

Only you have the courage to say anything. The rest just regurgitate their usual rubbish.

For your principled stance (despite your overall bigotry) you have my respect.

Killing hindus in Bangladesh for no reason is a tradition. Nothing to do with Modi. Many massacres to list.

When Prophet's hair was stolen from Hazratbal shrine in Kashmir, BD muslims massacred hindus for God knows what reason.

But everyone will be blamed as responsible for the killings, except BD muslims, who must be shielded.

Ultimately the one who pulls the trigger is responsible and in this case the Mullahs are responsible.

But it's important to understand the context. The shielding of Modi and the Indian state from the mess they have created is also shirking responsibility.

If a helicopter can be sent for Hasina. Then a helicopter can be sent to rescue these innocent's too.

Hindus are being attacked because Modi supported Hasina?

In the same token, Pakistani State can be blamed for any attack on Indian muslims.

Ultimately the islamists want either BD hindus to die, or get sent to India in helicopters. Just different language of expressing the same end goal.

I would rather they convert to Islam and live.

Yes the fall of the Hasina government and the anti India sentiment is the main factor for the current violence.

Anti India sentiment has been there since a long time. It is a tertiary factor. Because it cannot explain the multiple massacres of Hindus for no reason.

The main factor is that they are Hindus. Everything else is secondary.

Even during Hasina's rule, Hindus were being attacked. They were being attacked even when Bangladesh was East Pakistan. And killed even before Partition happened.

They are killed for what they ARE. It is like the story of the wolf and lamb. The wolf wanted to eat the lamb, so blamed it for muddling the upstream water and got an excuse to kill it.

You are again shielding your government from the role it played in the creation of the current mess.

There is no creation. The creation of hindu genocide has existed long ago in Bangladesh.

You are legitimising the Islamists by blaming the indian govt or Modi.

Like saying that if Pakistan speaks against Indian interests or meddles in our country, we will kill indian muslims. And I will tell you that hey, I killed some indian muslims because Pakistani govt did something we don't like. And some Indian moderate will tell you that you are shielding Pakistan's actions. If not for them, poor CC would not have killed the indian muslim.

You are simply giving legitimacy to hindu genocide in Bangladesh by putting the blame on India.

So can we say Palestine mess is due to Hamas ,and all of u shielding hamas by blaming Israel.
Hamas of course has a major role in the current phase of the conflict. It's why their leaders have also been identified by the ICJ. Does it absolve the Israelis - no of course not they are murderous devils and are responsible for their atrocities.

A similar lens should be applied to Bangladesh. Modi is to blame and has a major role in the current conflicts and the Mullahs killing innocent Hindus are also evil.

I like your comparison.

Personally, I would like the ICJ to issue warrants for Modi AND the Mullahs, similar to the Israel/Palestine situation.

Not entirely true.
It all started with the hatred of India among Bangladeshis and that happened much before Modi came on the scene.

India may have liberated Bangladesh in 1971, but did nothing to nurture and build relations with the new country. Bangladesh has been asking India to demarcate the borders and finalise water sharing, among other things. But the f*tards in Delhi have been ignoring them.

Meanwhile, the Jamaat-e-Islami, in cahoots with Pakistan's ISI, has been actively spreading anti-India sentiment in Bangladesh since 1971, while Delhi was napping away. The foundations were laid right then. Now all that has come home to roost.

No point in blaming Modi. He has been trying to clean up the garbage he inherited from his predecessors since he came to power. If Modi's foreign policy was to blame, India wouldn't have such excellent relations with other muslim countries.

So you would want Congress to befriend the Islamist terrorists in Bangladesh?

It is the Congress and their worthless governments before 2014 that are largely responsible for the anti-India sentiment in Bangladesh. If the Indian governments had played the cards properly after 1971, we wouldn't have had this problem today.

It is up to the BJP and Modi to clean up the mess now. But the anti-India sentiment won't go away so easily. So we are going to have to deal with it. The hindus in BD are going to be the worst affected.
