In response to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) public mobilisation after being toppled by the opposition’s no-trust move, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has decided to hold rallies in major cities of Punjab immediately after Eidul Fitr.

According to sources, the incumbent ruling party has formulated its strategy in response to the former ruling party’s mass mobilisation attempts.

The party sources said that PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz and Hamza Shehbaz will jointly address these public meetings.

The PML-N leadership has also directed Punjab President Rana Sanaullah to prepare a schedule of meetings, it added.

Moreover, the PML-N has also decided to start preparations for the general elections.

The sources added that Maryam and Hamza would look after the public front of the government’s strategy whereas Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would after governmental affairs.

They said that PML-N supreme leader Nawaz Sharif has directed Shehbaz to provide more relief to the people, which is likely to be witnessed in the prices of food and petroleum products.

Prime Minister Shehbaz, the sources said, gave important instructions to his economic team regarding provision of relief to the masses.

After his dismissal from power, former prime minister Imran Khan held his first public meeting in Peshawar.

Addressing the gathering, the former premier announced the beginning of a “freedom struggle”, saying that he would continue to mobilise the people until the incumbent government goes for early elections.

In this regard, the PTI chief announced that he would be holding rallies in all major cities of the country.

NA-71 already had one, a 'power show' by MNA Abid Raza. Looks like they're gearing up for elections

I am absolutely fascinated to see how big these crowds are going to be.

Are we missing something? Is this just a show of force to counter the massive PTI gatherings or are they actually preparing for elections?

It's all practice for the elections.
Light iftar package now followed by brown paper envelopes on Election Day.

It's a bogus attempt to counter PTI elections is the last thing in the mind of these looters

LAHORE: With the PTI’s public mobilisation campaign going on in full swing, the PML-N too has decided to galvanise its support base by holding around a dozen rallies across the country, apparently entering into a pre-election campaign mode.

The first rally scheduled to be held over the weekend in Sialkot has been postponed till the next month due to the holy month of Ramazan.

PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz will lead the rallies which according to a federal minister will be held one after another in Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh.

The PML-N, currently in power at the Centre with the help of several coalition partners after recently dislodging the PTI government through the no-confidence vote, is finding itself beset with problems from all sides.

On the one side is the economic crisis in the country, which requires tough decision making to address it, while on the other is the PTI, which is holding mammoth rallies in major urban centres to build an anti-government sentiment, which is gaining traction among the populace.

“The PML-N will have to expose the ‘lies’ the PTI has been telling to the people day in and day out, and has to tell the people the truth,” nominated federal minister Javed Latif told The Express Tribune.

He maintained that the rallies were meant to lay bare the PTI’s narrative which was built on “lies”, adding that former premier Imran Khan’s corruption cases, his foreign funding case and scandals would be placed before the masses so that they could see for themselves the contradiction in his claims and actions.

He said Imran despite the “undeniable evidence” that proved him wrong, was still peddling the conspiracy theory.

He noted that all the rallies would be led by Maryam since she was the only mainstream party leader that was currently out of power. Besides her, all the party leadership was busy with their government assignments, Latif added.

The PML-N leader observed that the first rally would be held in Okara on May 6, the second in Attock on May 8 while two rallies were planned for K-P later on.

He said after K-P, rallies will be held in Chakwal, Mianwali and Vehari, and later in Bahawalnagar and Karachi.

To a question regarding his differences with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Latif said in the PML-N, they had the liberty to differ even with the party leadership, clarifying that it did not mean that there was a rift between him and the party president.

How much are they offering for attendance?

PTI should start doing jalsas in various cities in Punjab as well. I would start with Gujrat. Send a message to the Elahi family. Sialkot, Bahawalpur, & Pakpattan were close in the last election. And Faisalabad is the third largest city in Pakistan. Wont hurt to do jalsas their.

This might be the worst turn out for a jalsa I've ever seen.

ATTOCK: PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz on Friday once again slammed former prime minister Imran Khan over his recent statements regarding the alleged "conspiracy" to topple his government.

Earlier today, Khan — while speaking during a podcast — had said that he had learned about the "conspiracy" against his government in July last year.

"First he said the threat letter arrived on March 7, and now he is saying that he had known about the conspiracy since last year," Maryam commented while addressing a jalsa in Attock, Punjab.

Imran Khan had also said that he had no intention to change the director-general of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) as his presence was crucial because of the looming fear of a civil war in Afghanistan.

"I realised last summer that once the US leaves Afghanistan, there could be a civil war that could have repercussions for Pakistan. Our soldiers were being martyred, so I wanted the intelligence chief, who had served for five years already, to stay as it was the most difficult of times," he had said.

In response, Maryam used a pun and said that Imran Khan's government "collapsed as soon as it became bey Faiz".

'Save Gogi march'

She also shed light on the alleged corruption charges against former first lady Bushra Bibi's friend Farah Khan and said that the PTI's "so-called independence march" is actually a "save Gogi" march.

"Farah Gogi's corruption trails lead to Bani Gala. It's unfortunate that Imran Khan never publically tried saving his sister Aleema Khan when there were allegations hurled against her, but he came to Gogi's rescue while speaking on national TV," she said.

She said that in the past four years, out of a population of 220 million people, it was only Gogi whose wealth continued to increase.

"Why did Farah Khan escape to Dubai overnight?" she questioned. "Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has said that Farah will be found and brought back wherever she is."

She went on to say that it was "Gogi, Pinky, and Kaptaan," who looted the country's wealth, adding that Imran Khan minted billions of rupees through the foreign funding case.

On Masjid-e-Nabawi incident

The PML-N vice president also shed light on the Masjid-e-Nabawi (PBUH) incident and said that it was an act of "shame" that Imran Khan "had sent people to the holy place to chant slogans against the PML-N leadership."

She said that due to the incident, many poor people working in Saudi Arabia were arrested only because they listened to what their leader was demanding.

From the footage by Hamid Mir it does look like a large gathering, still nowhere near the PTI gathering levels. But let's not kid ourselves that video ^^^ is not the empty ground I was hping to see.

Mind you this is their first so let's see how long they can sustain it for.

Yikes if that's supposed to be a good angle to show how "big" this gathering is. I can't believe PMLN can't find or convince people to show up to their jalsas even in Punjab.

PMLN shouldn't and don't need to go for rallies as they were literally running a "Mehngai mukao march" about a month ago and other rallies to topple the government. They are in power and they can bury any narrative that Khan is building through government performance and they already have full control over the media in the country.

They don't have a charged voter base and they haven't had it since the heydays of Nawaz Sharif and even then they needed full government machinery to fill up their jalsagahs. Noon's strength is electoral politics management and that's where they should focus on and if the establishment wants them to show street power, they should just simply tell the establishment to shut up.

I've seen all kinds of footage from all angles and it was obvious that people who showed up for the rally would be dissected through the personal lens of the ideology of the person seeing this crowd. Do note that this is the area where only one MNA of PMLN almost got 100K votes so this isn't a small town that Mir Sb. is claiming.

What is the menu at PMLN's mini rallies ? Biryani, palao, or naan-kabab ? How much they will be paying to attend ?, just checking. This will promote business as there are some companies which can arrange 250-500 or more people and they're have been providing their services to PMLN for sometimes .

Hamid Mir is just doing what he is paid for .

PTI supporters are doing bhangra for nothing.

There is no need for PMLN supporters to attend these rallies. They have nothing to complain about - they are happy and satisfied because the fake messiah was booted out and Shehbaz is now the PM.

On the other hand, PTI supporters are burning like coal. Their desperation and frustration is wonderful to see, and they have no choice but to do circus on the streets.

Not in their wildest dreams did they ever think that this would happen. They can do whatever they want, the reality is that the fake messiah will never become the PM again.

Lashing out at former prime minister Imran Khan for "destroying" the country's economy, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz on Thursday said that it is better to quit the government before bringing more burden on the poor, hinting that the stay of the unity government in power might not be too long.

Her statement came after the ex-premier was upping the ante against the present government and demanding early elections. "We only want one thing and that is elections and do not want the imported government. We want independence via free and transparent elections. The ocean of people will not leave Islamabad until we get a date for the elections," Imran said while addressing party workers at K-P House in Islamabad earlier in the day, hinting at turning the Islamabad long march into a prolonged sit-in.

Maryam asked the crowd at a public gathering in Sargodha whether her party should leave the government as it did not want to bring more burden on the people and the people replied in affirmative.

The PML-N leader then said she also thinks the same "one should quit the government before bringing more burden on to the poor".

"If Nawaz leaves government, will you give him a two-third majority," she asked the masses. Maryam also said that people ask if you wanted to leave the government why did you come into power for such a short time. "We came because he [Imran Khan] was planning to steal the next elections. We failed Imran's 12-year plan."

She said that Nawaz Sharif had ended the chronic issue of load-shedding in the country in just three years but Pakistan was later handed over to an incapable person.

"Pakistan was destroyed in these four years. That same person who destroyed Pakistan now says what Shehbaz Sharif did in four weeks. Can destruction caused to the economy be fixed in four weeks," she questioned.

She said that Imran has delivered 40 speeches after being removed from premiership but he hasn't said a single word about his performance.

"First, he staged a drama of 35 punctures and now he is doing the same with the letter. He has not provided evidence of anything yet," she said and added that now Imran is saying his life is in danger but he hasn't provided proof of his claim yet.

"Today, the dollar reached Rs200 and Imran Khan is responsible for it. Today, the economy is on the ventilator and Imran Khan is responsible for it as well."

Talking about the government's recent difficult decisions, Maryam said that Imran doesn't know that making difficult decisions for the nation is not easy.

"When you were asked about the prices of tomatoes and potatoes you said you did not come to fix the rates. But Shehbaz Sharif will fix these issues."

Maryam said that Nawaz Sharif could've just increased the prices of commodities and stayed in power but he's not Imran Khan. "Nawaz Sharif will leave power before increasing the burden on the people," she added.

Talking about the PTI chief's recent statement about her, Maryam said that Imran doesn't know how to talk about a woman. "He said the US ambassador would've walked over me... you have not abused Maryam but all the women of Punjab," she said and added that when some foreign dignitary comes, Maryam is not representing herself but Pakistan.

She also said that whoever fed this "snake" Imran Khan, he has bitten them. "Imran says if the judiciary doesn't vote in his favour it has sold its conscious... when the establishment doesn't support him he says they're animals... if media doesn't support him, he labels them as foreign agents."

She said that the Supreme Court made a historic decision but from that day onward, he has been cursing the court but when it took a suo moto notice now he is praising it.

"I say to the Supreme Court that if it is taking a suo motu against Shehbaz then it should also take a suo motu against Shahzad Akbar and others. Suo motu should also be taken on the delay in foreign funding case," she added.

Maryam said that the PTI chairman has abused the armed forces of Pakistan and runs campaigns against them on social media. "Dr Arif Alvi's son openly abuses the army despite his father being the president."

The PML-N stalwart further said that Imran abuses the same media which gave coverage to his empty public gatherings. "He declares all the media houses traitors except one."

On the occasion, Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz said that Imran Khan only wanted to create chaos in the country. "He is not only talking bad about our armed institutions but against some friendly countries as well."

Hamza said that Imran promised 5 million houses but could not build a single one.

Netizens troll PML-N for hosting 'comedy show' at Liberty Chowk
PML-N supporters were called to stand in solidarity with Hamza after his position as Punjab CM came into question

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) held a show of strength at Lahore’s Liberty Chowk on Saturday, where supporters were called to stand in solidarity with Hamza Shehbaz after his position as the chief minister of Punjab came into question yet again.

The PML-N supporters were entertained by an interesting performance that had the internet reeling with laughter. The video soon went viral which attracted interesting remarks from people from all walks of life.

Commenting on the video, journalist Cyril Almeida said that PML-N can’t even seem to gather a small crowd in Liberty tonight.

In another tweet, he said that TV channels were on standby for an appearance of PML-N VC Maryam Nawaz. "No word on whether the small crowd caused a cancellation," he added.

Former Focal Person Digital Media to Punjab CM Azhar Mashwani sarcastically commented that the video was not of any comedy show but it was a public gathering of PML-N at Lahore's Liberty Chowk.

Former Minister for energy Hammad Azhar, taking a jibe at PML-N, said: "Not sure why PML-N needs to hire street comedians to attract crowds in their flop jalsas when their top leadership offers comedy free of charge everyday."

Journalist Rizwan Ahmed Ghilzai remarked on the low turnout, "Organic vs paid, the difference is quite clear at Liberty chowk."

Senator Ejaz Chaudhary, commenting on the viral video, said that this is how PML-N celebrates its solidarity day. "Kaptaan has made them crazy," he added.

PTI leader Shahbaz Gill, sarcastically said that artists were called from some "unknown planet to warm the blood of people".
