PML-N, PPP decide to back govt on Army Act amendment bill [Update Post #57]

:))) :)))

lota lota lota

kya baat hai..whatever happened to the stance, PMLN is the only party that can stand up to the genernals?!

The ”anti-establishment” folks are going to switch their allegiances to PTM and the judiciary.

History will remember Nawaz Sharif as the only Pakistani civilian leader who had the courage to file a case of high treason against a military dictator.

The military dictator who stated that the Pakistani constitution belongs in the garbage, and also called Pakistani military as mercenaries for fighting the Soviets.

We are lucky to be alive to see a military dictator convicted. Thank you Nawaz Sharif.

Even Z. Bhutto did not have the courage and ultimately paid for it with his life.

Today, we have a slave in power who is trying to find a way to save the dictator. It seems that the Supreme Court will have to find someone to play the role of prosecutor because the puppet government has joined his defense team.

Not really, Nawaz Sharif will be remembered as a businessman/opportunist who was groomed by Zia-ul-Haq to counter the PPP.

History will remember the duffer as a product of Jilani and Zia, a guy who ran away( apparently that is done to humilate his opponents lol) and had no principles on anything except to steal from a poor country. This was his time to say, I will die in PK and will take my punishment. Instead he humiliated himself and his fan boys who believed him. Enjoy your humiliation

You know Sharifs, the politicians. In fields beyond politics, My family has fought against Sharifs and couple of top tier politicians of PMLn. You have no idea to the limits of their cowardice and incompetence. They flee like bees. And there incompetency is when they keep waiting for someone else to challenge their opponents and then they try to avail this opportunity for revenge.

As expected our anti establishment brigade now switching all their hopes to PTM and seeing Mohsin Dawar as the next PM candidate! man they are quick...

(1) What will happen if (God forbid) Bajwa passes away tomorrow?

(2) what will happen if Modi wages war with Pakistan in 3 years time? Will Bajwa get another extension?

I know you are feeling humiliated after the Nooras and Billo took business decisions and made a total Mamu out of you and the lifafas you follow. The decision is worth it just to see how these losers have been humiliated by the Nooras and PPP

So based on your logic, Bajwa should never have become COAS because he might die. Maybe like Minullah you want IK to guarantee his life lol
If Modi starts a war in 3 years then he carries on until the war is over.

Based on my logic, the COAS should never get an extension because it sets a wrong precedence. We are told the Pakistani army is super professional and competent, so why is it necessary to give extensions? Are the Corp commanders incompetent?

Your logic is based on reading and watching Noora media and they are suicidal with humiliation. They hype up idiots like you and then when push comes to shove, the bottom line talks. Then they blame Chacha, then they realise that "brave one" ( you know the guy that runs away to humiliate his opponents, it still remains your greatest gem) made it, then more verbal gymnastics. All the time, we love these crooks humiliation.

These guys have been humiliated by the Sharifs. They have parroted vote ki izzat crap for a year and today they have ditched it, They are so pathetic and spineless that they can't even question it.

This is why PTI needs to be on the same page with the Army. These shameful parties, PPP, and PML N, will cut a deal with the Army if they can get back in power. They can block the extension in the Senate, they have the votes. They showed their true face with this decision.

Based on my logic, the COAS should never get an extension because it sets a wrong precedence. We are told the Pakistani army is super professional and competent, so why is it necessary to give extensions? Are the Corp commanders incompetent?

PTI wants to give an extension to Bajwa since this guarantees that Imran Khan will be the first Prime Minister in Pakistan to complete a 5 year term. The next election will most likely be October 2023, and the next general if this extension goes through, will come into power on December 2022, which will not be enough time for him to cause problems for the government.

Right now PTI has to take unpopular decisions to improve the economy, which has dented their popularity. If a new Army chief comes in and he is politically ambitious, PPP and PML N will be willing to cut a deal with him to come into power, or ensure that IK wont win in 2023. These are family parties, the last thing they want is a credible alternative for the people of Pakistan, and they would be even willing to support martial law if it meant getting rid of IK. So if you look it at it from this perspective, its essential for IK political survival to make sure he is on the same page as the Army, and try his best to improve the economy. If he can improve the economy like Erdogan did in Turkey, he can get a majority in parliament in 2023 and then he can put the generals in their place like Erdogan did.

National Assembly approves services chiefs' tenure bills

The National Assembly on Tuesday approved three bills regarding the tenure of the services chiefs — chief of army staff, chief of air staff and chief of naval staff — and the chairman of the joint chief of staff committee.

The three bills are: the Pakistan Army (Amendment) Bill 2020, the Pakistan Air Force (Amendment) Bill 2020 and the Pakistan Navy (Amendment) Bill 2020.

Ahead of the session, Prime Minister Imran Khan arrived at the NA.

As the session began, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) MNA Amjad Ali Khan presented the report of the National Assembly's standing committee on defence regarding the Pakistan Army (Amendment) Bill 2020.

Later, Defence Minister Pervez Khattak requested the PPP to take back their recommendations regarding amendments to the bills "in light of the regional situation".

"This will create unity in the house and will create a better situation," he said.

Subsequently, taking the floor, PPP MNA Naveed Qamar took back his party's recommendations regarding all three bills.

"Keeping in mind the situation in the country and the new situation in the region and after consulting with the rest of the opposition, [...] in order to send a unified message, we (PPP) have decided not to press these amendments," he said.

Speaker Asad Qaiser conducted a clause by clause reading of each bill, one after the other, putting them up for a voice vote.

Despite religious party members, including Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Jamaat-i-Islami and representatives from the erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata), walking out of the NA declaring the lower house to be "fake", all three bills were approved.

The session was adjourned till 4pm on Wednesday.

A meeting of the PML-N parliamentary group was also held before the session. Meanwhile, a government delegation met with PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari in his chamber, DawnNewsTV reported.

A day earlier, the National Assembly's standing committee on defence unanimously approved the bills during an in-camera session, which indicates that the bills are likely to smoothly sail through the lower house.

"The amendments were passed unanimously by the body. I congratulate the entire country and the opposition parties," Khattak had said, adding that the bills would be put up for voting in the NA on Tuesday.

According to the expedited timeline agreed between the opposition and the government, the amendment bills will also be introduced in the Senate later today before being referred to the upper houses' defence committee, which is also expected to endorse the bills. The Senate is likely to vote on the bills on Wednesday after which they will finally go for presidential assent.

The Supreme Court had while deciding on the legal challenge to the second tenure for Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Bajwa asked the government to define the tenure, terms and conditions of service of the army chief and to get their approval from the parliament within six months.

In an unusual haste, the federal cabinet had approved the proposed amendments at an emergency session last Wednesday.

Time for JUI-F to become the face of ’democracy’ and ’resistence’.

This is a new level of shamelessness and hypocrisy.

The same so-called "democratic leaders" who were criticising Imran for being a selected PM are now polishing military boots to save their dying political careers.

The irony when PMLN supporters tried to throw the whole blame on Shehbaz, when in reality, it is Nawaz who is calling the shots, as he knows exactly the only way to revive his dying political career. So much for that "vote ko izzat do" crap.

You have to feel sad for PMLN/PPP supporters who defended their favorite crooks with basically one argument (Imran is a selected PM). Now they will have to accept the fact that Nawaz and his party are doing the same thing.

Now they are researching to find another way to defend these crooks after this massive uturn on vote ko izat do. For a whole week they kept blaming poor Shahbaz and now it's clear as day light that it was Nawaz who agreed to it. Bilawal also agreed to polishing boots to boost his political career outside Sindh

Congratulations King Bajwa.

The entire nation honors you for ensuring that a dozen “incompetent” generals will not get a chance to be the COAS of the “most disciplined” army in the world.

In addition, you have the honor of getting 375 votes while your puppet got 175 votes when you crowned him as PM. What an incredible achievement.

To attain this great honor, you created havoc in the county because this was clearly the most important business at this time. You went from pillar to post to ensure that your lust for power prevails over the credibility of your institution.

I assure you that it will not be difficult to get another three years if you so desire.

This bunch of shameless crooks have a surnatural ability to suddenly become sick when things become tough for them.

The funniest thing is that their blind supporters actually believe in their dramas of faking their diseases.

People should ask them to quit politics if they genuinely have health issues. Why should people be represented in parliament by unhealthy people?

PTI appointed a team of doctors who went to Nawaz’s prison and examined him. They confirmed that he was ill and that is why Imran agreed to shift him from his prison cell to the Services Hospital in Lahore.

Now the question is, what kind of doctors get fooled by a patient after examining him in person?

Why did Imran appoint such clowns to examine Nawaz? The entire trust of the nation hinged on the judgement and the honesty of these doctors and all Imran could find were some clowns?

Why is Imran so spectacularly incompetent to the point where he cannot even get the simple things right?

How hard was it to find a bunch of competent doctors who would have revealed to Imran that Nawaz is faking it?

That would have meant that he wouldn’t have been shifted to the hospital and thus wouldn’t have had an excuse to leave the country.

And if Nawaz had died, some of the people would have turned this thread into his mazar.

It was a tough no win situation for Imran.

Don't tell me that you actually believe that Bilawal didn't vote for the Services Act because he was ill.

Nawaz may be ill as he is close to 70 years of age, so him not being physically as fit as someone of your or my age is natural.

However, he was never that sick to the point where he had to run away to the USA to recover. If such a minor illness forces him to go out of country to get his treatment, before questioning Imran, you firstly have to question Nawaz's competency as a politician who was elected 3 times as the PM of Pakistan and couldn't built a decent hospital where he could be treated.

In fact, he was the first one to say that he would choose to die in Pakistan before making any kind of compromise with anyone. If he was that competent, he would have built a half decent hospital during his tenure, and that would have meant that he wouldn't have had an opportunity to run away after making a deal with the same people who "selected" Imran.

After running away like a coward, he confirmed 2 things :

1. He was not only extremely corrupt , but also extremely imcompetent as well, to the point where he has to fly to the USA to get some treatment despite serving 3 times as the PM.

2. He is ready to lick anyone's boots to revive his dead political career, thus putting all that "democratic leader who stands up to the Army" nonsense to bed.

Well said civil supremacy and these families names should never be written in same line.

Nawaz the politician is himself a product of Zia.

This is enough to send the entire "civilian supremacy" narrative to the gutters.

And there is more thn one video available of late Benazir supporting Musharraf take over from Nawaz in 1999. Musharraf was even ready to make PPP's Amin Faheem the PM instead of Zaffarullah Jamali but bibi wasn't ready to see anyone else from her party becoming PM when she was alive.

Who allowed him to leave the country? Why didn’t the PTI-appointed doctors tell Imran that he didn’t need to leave the country for such “minor” illness?

There are plenty of private hospitals in Pakistan that are more than capable of dealing with “minor” illnesses. Why didn’t Imran shift Nawaz to one of these hospitals?

Nawaz leaving the country confirmed two things:

(1) Imran is still a puppet of Bajwa who allowed Nawaz to leave the country in return of PMLN supporting his extension

(2) Imran is also ready to lick anyone’s boots including Musharraf to keep his puppet premiership. If he had integrity and sincerity, he would not have taken shameless U-turns on Musharraf and the COAS extension.

All in all, Imran’s narrative that he will deliver justice has lost all credibility. He couldn’t even keep Nawaz in jail without his masters side-stepping him and putting him in his place.

Cult-followers now pretend this episode of Nawaz leaving without paying a penny wasn’t humiliating for Imran and PTI, but they were the ones doing bhangra when the fake $12b story was cooked up to reduce the embarrassment of PTI.

Unfortunately, they got caught up in their own lies and that desperate attempt backfired.

By the way IK is still incompetent against foul play. He will learn it, and I guess, quickly. And that will bring more heartbreaks for PMLn, PPP and their supporters. Then the likes of you will be blaming him of foulplay.

When it comes to fairplay, I think IK is more than competent.

This should finally make it clear to the few left who somehow still support PMLN and PPP.

Those two parties, their wanna be royal family leaders and henchmen have, and always will be, a absolute joke !

Well that was the narrative for a few hours then it changed and then changed back again. I wonder who they are blaming now? But It wont be NS or Maryam because that makes things very complicated for Nooras and their small brains.
