Look there is a one committee which is set up by Government to do this job (Moon sighting e.t.c) i.e Ruet-e-Hilal Committee

There are 4 provisional committees, but those are also set up by Government and whom are answerable to Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.

These above all are official committees, now coming towards Popalzai, these people are not government people, they are not related to any party, they have no value. But they are religious preachers, so many people in KPK (only) follow them blindly,
they want to keep fast, Eid e.t.c with Saudi Arab, and all the mess is created by them.

What a joke, all countries have a moon sighting committee incl the Us, Canada etc that's why Popalzai is sitting diqn on Sunday to see the moon, if he was following Saudi then he wouldn't bother to spot the moon, justbsit back and follow the Saudis.

First of all it is compulsory for Muslim countries to sight the MOON and then declare Ramadhan, Eid, It should not be linked with Saudi Arabia, simple question, are prayers timings are same at Saudi Arabia and Pakistan? NO.

For example : If the moon is first sighted in Hawaii on Saturday evening & Eid is declared i.e. from Maghrib on Saturday to Maghrib on Sunday, what do those in the Far East or Japan, for example, do? They shall be already be well into Sunday.

Essentially people around the world should begin Ramadhan whenever they see the moon as per the method in their own respective countries (ofc in big ones like US, it will be by time zones). Don't see the point of blindly starting it whenever Saudis declare it. Unless that is the way Allah s.w.t prescribed it, then I apologize.

Saudi Arabia and Pakistan/ India have a time difference of only 1hr or so, if the moon has been sighted in Saudi Arabia ( there is only one moon) why couldn't it been in the other two countries?

As ever lots of confusion in UK, my local mosque had Taraweeh prayers yesterday and today is the 1st of Ramadan according to them since they follow Saudi Arabia. But other local mosques in Tooting, Hounslow, East London will have Ramadan starting from Tuesday since they base their announcements on the actual sighting of the moon.

Moonsighting.com says that yesterday no moon was sighted in UK and the nearest Muslim country Morocco, but then you have your local mosques declaring Ramadan on basis of the CALCULATION of the birth of the moon and NOT the actual sighting of the moon.

It's all a big grey area, I have fasted today and only Allah knows what the actual truth is but my only issue is that it would mess with your schedule of when the blessed nights occur in the last ten days whether you decide to follow one method or the other.

People that have sympathies with Wahibis will spot the moon when the Saudis "see the moon" ( the one who pays the piper calls the tunes) and people who are anti Wahabi, will find some reason not to fast, if the Wahabis are fasting. KP, parts of Balochistan celebrating Eid today unlike rest of Pakistan

• Eidul Fitr is being celebrated with religious zeal and fervour in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and parts of Balochistan today.
• Ulema condemn the incident of hooliganism at Masjid-e-Nabawi in their Eid sermons.
• Hazara Division will observe Eid tomorrow.

PESHAWAR: Unlike the rest of Pakistan, Eidul Fitr is being celebrated with religious zeal and fervour in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the northern districts of Balochistan today instead of tomorrow (Tuesday).

Eid prayers were held at open places, in mosques and Eidgahs in KP and certain districts of Balochistan.

KP to observe Eid on Monday
A day earlier, Chief Minister Mahmood Khan’s Special Assistant Barrister Dr Muhammad Ali Saif had announced that the province will celebrate Eid on Monday.

Taking to his Twitter, Saif said that the government had received 130 sightings from different areas of KP of the Shawwal moon.

“The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to officially celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Monday, May 2. Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated with religious fervour across the province tomorrow,” said the special assistant.

Moreover, the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee's zonal body in Peshawar, urged the central body to review it's decision.

Madni said that the zonal body had "examined the sightings" and considered them after through review.

On the other hand, following the decision of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, the rest of the country will celebrate Eid on Tuesday, May 3.

Religious Affairs Minister Abdul Shakoor said that the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was an independent body and that the federal government cannot "dictate" it.

“We can only request the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee to not ignore the sightings," Shakoor told journalists. He added that zonal committee had received the reports of moon sighting after the central body's meeting had ended.
