We've all seen plenty of threads about the negatives. Here's one for the few positives that have come to the fore. If you don't like the thread, don't let the door hit you on your way out.

The following players have been released (I'm listing guys who either have no future with the national side, based on their performances OR are not T20 players OR are mediocre to the core OR are no-names), which is a positive:

Ahmed Shehzad
Umar Akmal
Junaid Khan
Abid Ali
Jaahid Ali
Salman Butt
Dane Vilas
Farzan Raja
Adil Amin
Wayne Madsen
Fabian Allen
Asad Shafiq
Bilawal Bhatti
Rahat Ali
Yasir Shah
Umar Amin
Khurram Manzoor

That's quite a bit of garbage/TTFs that's been filtered out. I acknowledge that some of the replacements aren't exactly mouthwatering selections but again, this thread is about the positives.

On top of some of the dross being released, the following players have been drafted (i.e. youngsters who have a future with Pakistan OR are big names). Mainly pointing out those that were not there last year, or were there but did not play a significant role due to injury or a lack of complete availability:

Shahnawaz Dhani
Mohammad Umar
Rashid Khan
Salman Agha
Mohammad Imran
Mujeeb-ur-Rahman
David Miller
Saim Ayub
Dale Steyn
Zeeshan Malik
Qasim Akram
Danish Aziz

Any other player whose selection or non-selection can be seen as a positive? Feel free to add.

This is a good thread.

Personally, I can't wait to see how Saim and Zeeshan do. Also, hoping that Danish gets a good amount of games

Spot on gotta look at the positives

And theirs a lot of positive to look at

I hope qasim akram gets to showcase his talent

Thanks guys. Onus is on you guys and more of your type to make some constructive points here before the usual suspects come and spoil the party with their rona dhona :sree

Good thread and valid points. Nothing can ever be completely perfect, while thriving for improvement one should be looking at the positives.

Umar Akmal? The same Umar Akmal who has a similar average to Babar Azam in the PSL and a much better SR?

The same Umar Akmal who played a big role in Quetta winning the PSL?

Yes, the same Umar Akmal who took his pants off and asked where is the fat. Yes, the same Umer Akmal who failed to report the fixing approach. Yes, the same Umer Akmal who puts on fat by drinking water. Is that enough? Teams generally want to create a high performing attitude, not a lousy victim mentality.

Did he do it in public or in front of the camera or did he do it with the physios? What’s wrong with being fat though? Didn’t stop Inzi from scoring runs. Hasn’t stopped Rishabh Pant smashing the Aussies right now, didn’t stop Sharjeel from getting selected in 2017.

Mohammad Irfan and Nawaz didn’t report fixing, but they’re still playing.

Sharjeel Khan is still playing and is still fat.

Shakib ul Hasan didn’t report a fixing and his board only banned him for a year, whereas PCB are trying to ban Akmal for 3 years.

Sharjeel got banned for less for fixing, make it make sense please🤔

I had a great hope on Umar Amin , looks like beginning of the end for him, sad.

I agree with most of these. Good to see a lot of TTFs finally out. Still cant believe that Aqib Javed had selected Jaahid Ali and Salman Butt last time, so infuriating.

Glad Zeeshan Malik is getting a chance, lets see how he does. Hopefully Danish Aziz can build on his performances in the National T20.

Amad Butt has been improving in the past couple of years. I hope he showcases some improved bowling and powerhitting at the death.

Why the hell is Adil Amin in your list guy just played 1 match and you may want to look at his record before saying this.

Looking forward to seeing Saim Ayub, Qasim Akram, Zeeshan Malik, and Danish Aziz warming the benches of their respective franchises. On a more positive note, at least they got the opportunity to warm those benches.

Some good names were finally drafted this season, and I'm glad that we've filtered out the other players who don't have a future with our team in the T20 format.

If you look at our national team, there are a few holes which need to be fixed.

Babar Azam (c)
-
Haider Ali
Mohammad Hafeez
-
-
Imad Wasim
Shadab Khan (vc)
Shaheen Shah Afridi
Haris Rauf
Faheem Ashraf/Hasan Ali/Mohammad Hasnain

1. A relatively aggressive opener to pair up with Babar at the top of the order.
2. A solid wicket-keeping option who plays with the needs of the modern game. (Around 130 SR or so).
3. A solid middle-order batsman who performs the role Shoaib Malik used to do for Pakistan.

Those are the biggest things we need from this PSL.

Looking at the openers, I'm glad that Sharjeel, Zeeshan, Fakhar, and others are competing for the slot.

The wicket-keeper options are also looking pretty decent, with the likes of Azam Khan, Zeeshan Ashraf, Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Mohammad Rizwan competing for the slot.

The middle-order batsman who performs the role of the hitter on the side will be contested by the likes of Khushdil Shah, Danish Aziz, Azam Khan, and others.

In my mind, if Azam Khan can improve his fitness even more in the time he has before the PSL, and if he performs in the PSL, he'd definitely be a good asset for the team. He'd fill in both the required holes in the middle order, and he'd free up a slot for us to play any other deserving batsman.

So, there's a lot of positives from this edition as far as building the team for the WT20 goes, and I think that people don't look at that before making judgements. The likes of Ahmed Shehzad, Umar Akmal, Junaid Khan won't even fit into our team, so there's no point in making cases for them not being drafted.

Also really interested to see what Mohammad Amir can produce, given that Misbah will most likely get sacked along with Waqar. Personally, Amir is a good asset who needs to put up some undeniable performances and show that he can still be on our white-ball team, because as far as new ball skills are concerned, he's the best in the country. However, with that in mind, there's also a lot of competition for our white-ball pace attack. Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali, Usman Khan Shinwari, Mohammad Amir, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Hasnain, and other domestic talents as well. It's good that we have this much competition for our bowling, and PSL is the perfect platform to demonstrate what you can provide to the team.

Happy for Zeeshan Malik although I think he will only get 1-2 games maximum because of the Sharjeel-Babar combo

Looking forward to seeing Saim Ayub, Qasim Akram, Zeeshan Malik, and Danish Aziz warming the benches of their respective franchises. On a more positive note, at least they got the opportunity to warm those benches.
Saim will have to play for QG as they havr few batsmen and he's an emerging player on top of that. Thus he probs wont warm the bench.

Also, given that KK also released Ifti, Danish
again will probs see a few games. Zeeshan will probs come at 3 for them, as they've moved Hales on.

The only one likely to warm the bench will be Qasim Akram, as Nabi will probs play in his place.

Not good enough and certainly not international level.

The how did he get 120 odd against England Lions with 10 sixes with bowling attack including Mark wood.

Oh you’ll be surprised

People tend to ignore performances like that, if it was Abdullah Shafique or the obese sifarishi then there would be fifty active threads about it
