Positives from the LOI squads selected for the West Indies tour

I know people are not satisfied with the selection but there are some positive which will help pakistan team

1) Azhar ali and asad shafiq is dropped from odi squad

2)Umar akmal is dropped from squad prior to his poor fitness

3)Shadab khan is selected for both odis and t20s which is great news

4)Asghar is picked for odis and nawaz is dropped from odis which is good we need specialist spinner in odis

5)Usman shinwari and fahim ashraf is picked both have performed very well in domestic usman was 3rd highest wicket taker in quaid azam trophy and fahim was very good in pakistan A tours

6) Glad they are now giving rest to wahab(unlikely to played all t20s)and amir for this long tour from one format

7)Asif zakir is rewarded for his domestic performance

Removal of Azhar ali as captain is +ve but as a batsman will be -ve if his replacement is shehzad especially...

Azhar ali and his potential to play pace well will be highly missed and pak will soon have opening worries.. back to square one.... where they will lose both openers cheaply in a span of 3 overs and with hafeez playing in top 4 it will be the same old days of misbah returning... dont know how are they going to improve their ranking from 8 and to qualify directly for the 2019 CWC..

Asif zakir the new MISBAH lol...

Have deserving players like Saad ali, Hussain talat ahead of him even Azhar ali was better than him...

exactly.. soon they will be back to 2/3, 15/3, 20/3, 70/4 and 100/5

losing all 5 batsmen in the first 25 overs reaching only 100 is coming back

The only positive is that the bowling options for the ODIs look good, a lot of potential there.

I'm not convinced by any of the new faces like Ashraf, Zakir and Zaman. Would've preferred Talat and Saad over them.

Azhar ali is not good enough for odis and if you look at the replacement kamran and shehzad both have done very well in odis against westindies so no worry for this series as westindies bowling lineup is not the best one and these two are well known for bashing weak bowling attack

If you want to use that logic then Azhar Ali also scored a 100 in his last game against WI. Unfair to drop a guy who got such a score only 3/4 ODI innings ago.

Hafeez should be gone. He's gotten too many chances. But Kami deserves his place. And had Sharjeel not comitted career suicide, he would be opening instead of Shehzad so he has nobody to blame but himself.

these three played CT2013 failed miserably.. After four years they couldnt find one batsman to replace these three and they will play CT2017 in the same place and hopefully fail the same way...excpet malik who when pushed that his place in the side is doubtful scores a fifty and take three wickets..

In fact a very balanced squad. Hafeez is the only negative to me rest r all positive. Whole team selected on merit get reward for consistent performance in domestic. Don't understand why people r critising kami & shehzad. Both have worked hard on their game & probably in the best form of their life

As bad as it looks, we have picked some young guys so if the ones who are likely to fail (Shehzad, Kamran, Hafeez) can be kicked out the squad for the CT, we can actually have a good team.

If these 3 could've been replaced by better, younger players, this would've been a brilliant squad.

its not that they couldn't find a batsmen, its more that they weren't even trying

they kept bringing back Umar Akmal, Hafeez, Shehzad, Azhar... you're not gonna find a ODI batsmen recycling that lot

decent squad. finally picked younger players and domestic performers.
dropped shafiq and unfit umar and azhar.
only problem is we have kami hafeez and shezzy in the squad but that was only because sharjeel and to an extent shahzaib became unselectable ( i believe sanga said the scandal rocked him a bit) so cant argue too much with it. i would also not have picked junaid but he will not play odis
