Not really, no. Most drivers who come from Pakistan drive like ****. Just because you can roll your car around doesn't mean you can drive.

Beg to differ, diving in Pakistan helps a person get some self awareness that seems to be devoid in the first world.

Anyways came here to share a funny experience from those days when i started riding the bicycle. I remember once while i was riding cycle i noticed myself approaching towards a woman who was carrying a utensil (dol, jo k urdu jaanta hein, dodh k lye aksar use hota ha) in her right hand, I was riding on the extreme left edge of the street being a new learner.
Still dozens of feet away from that woman i made the resolve not to hit that utensil in her hand. But as the luck would have it I still managed to hit that utensil in her hand. Some of the milk poured out of it but listening her curses i increased the speed at once.

It seemed my over cautiousness to avoid that woman actually turned into a target for my eyes!

Just couple of days before may be, my home tutor having known that i was on to this learning experience had narrated me a similar sort of incidence from his childhood; In that case it was a tree in the middle of a plain field!!

At very early stage of cycle riding, you tend to hit the thing that you intend to avoid.

Failed my first try because I turned right on a red-light without coming to a complete stop.

Retried a month later and passed with zero errors/points deductions.

Keep at it. Remember the one second rule: always avert your eyes one second after being noticed. It's a fine line.

Same here: if I'm reading the manual, driving is confusing. Auto-pilot makes it a breeze.

I know how to drive got good control over steering, problem with me is that car stops when i try to move it forward after applying break.

I'll be applying for learners license (Karachi) today and will start taking classes as well.

Cut the brake cables. It won't ever stop after you apply the breaks.

Also try losing some weight. It could be a momentum/inertia thing.

) LOL, i guess i didn't explained it better.

So let me try again. Problem is I can't seem to find how slowly i should let go of clutch pedal and much i should press accelerator pedal. This is just for the first gear after that am fine no problem in shifting gears from first to second and vice versa.

Any advice?

Its been years since I drove a manual, but you can practice releasing the clutch without pressing the accelerator. If you do it right, the car won't go into the epileptic convulsion routine. That way you can forget about the accelerator.

A benefit of this technique is, if you've successfully released the clutch without pressing the accelerator, you're ready to really burst out of the gate when it is time. Great for getaway scenarios, like right after robbing a bank etc.

Passed my driving test recently and although it was on the first attempt took a long time for me to pass - took 3-4 months off from learning due to going to Pakistan and exams.

I absolutely have to drive manual. Never liked the automatic stuff.

You cannot call yourself a real driver if you cannot drive manual. It is also the official requirement for driving licences, at least in the EU.

If you pass in a manual, you're allowed to drive automatics but if you pass in an automatic, then you'll have to pass in a manual to be able to drive both.

Got licence few months ago. Auto + manual cars are the best. Easy for lazy drivers like me.

It is very important to learn driving on manual, but driving it in Pakistan's traffic is a very poor idea. Automatic is the way to go.

Once you experience automatic in our traffic, you will dread driving a manual

Unfortunately, my personal car is still manual, but hopefully I will get a one in January/February.

I got a learner’s license the day after I turned 18.You don’t need to give a test here for that.I haven’t had my permanent licencse made yet but I hear you have to pass a driving test before getting it.

I drove illegally for 2 years.I learnt how to drive myself,without any help.But now I prefer automatic whereas a year ago I preferred manual.

Driving in Pakistan is a tough ask for newbies.But if you can drive in Pakistan,you can drive anywhere.
