So far our record on the different pitches reads:

Normal: W2, L1
Dry: L1
Spicy: L1

Dry doesn't suit us because of the solitary spinner but I feel like because we're batting heavy now, flat might actually work in our favour. We have to name the pitch for our round 7 home game at the same time as our XI for the round 6 game so we won't be able to see how we perform on a flat pitch before that game which sucks. But I'm tempted to go for a flat pitch for that home game.

Thoughts? Manager101 ritzy_123 maddgenius Azzurri

I am in favor of 'Normal' variation as both our wins were at home with same variation. In bowling department, we still have one platinum International and two diamond bowlers backed up with a strong batting unit after the changes, hence, a balanced variation will help us keep our home advantage intact.

OK, me at 3 is fine. Hopefully I find some form there.

Still feel that flat pitch will really suit our strength. :virat

For our match against Quetta (Round 7) tomorrow at home its 'normal' variation but as you are insisting I will set a Flat pitch for our Round 8 match against Multan. :salute

Very good skip, thanks for taking that into consideration! Flat suits our FTBs really well it seems :rohit

Also very good win today - let's win the next one too to put ourselves in a great position on the table!

Also, really liking the look of the line-up against Quetta - we will be chasing so it's good to see our lower-middle order looking very strong. Between #3-6 our batsmen should be able to handle this iA :ik

What a turnaround of fortunes after the contract swaps. Well done Manager101

Since we have become a batting dominant side now with 3 platinum batsmen so flat should be our default pitch for remaining home games with @ritzy123 and Square Drive batting at #3 & 4 which would enable them to bat maximum number of overs as platinum batsmen tend to bat at a considerably high SR compared to the low ranked bats.

Congrats guys, we now have five wins and still two more rounds to go. :afridi

Next round is against Lahore at their home ground, which has some help for spin so hopefully Hamad_H will do better. :p

They have prepared a flat pitch so going with same batting order.

Our last round is against Karachi, they are different from Multan (Strength: batting/AR) , Islamabad (Strength: Batting) and Lahore (Strength: Batting/AR) against whom we played on flat decks, Karachi have better bowling then us but slightly weaker batting. They rely on specialists just like us.

So, what do you guys think, should we prepare a flat pitch or something else ?

Well done guys, we've been red hot!

Manager101 against Karachi, I say we continue to play to our strengths as opposed to their weakness, and stick with flat.

Since we have become batting heavy I'd say we back our batsmen to come good against Karachi on a flat deck. Besides it would blunt their bowling strength.

Btw skip, this batting lineup is a beauty, gotta say. We have all bases covered even in case of early loss of wickets.

Flat pitch suits our batting dominated side

We should go for the flat pitch because our batsmen are on fire. Don't worry about my form, I'll strike when you most need me. At the moment, I'm allowing our batting order take the headlines :))

Hamad!!! Well done for holding your nerve today, buddy :yk

Thanks everyone for your valuable suggestions. We are going with Flat pitch as discussed. :)

Hey skip. Since you are slightly low in confidence, I propose we swap out batting positions. It’ll make our batting even more stronger and it might help you get back in form as well. Manager101

You are the best finisher we have so don't want that crucial role to change. I will get my form back in knock-outs. ;)

Tough loss today lads. Need to beat KK now and look for a #1/#2 finish so that we can play the qualifier and have 2 shots at making the final.

Need to win 3 in a row now to win the championship.

I suggest that if it's a flat pitch, we swap Manager upto open and move Haider down to 5. Our tail is very long and we need someone stronger at 5. Also, Manager is not doing well so push him up to open, as we tend to lose early wickets anyway.

Makes sense

Well, there was an error in net run rate which is now corrected by Admins. We got fourth position so Karachi will be the home team.

Lets see what pitch they decide and then finalize the playing XI, but yes I agree with Square Drive if its a flat pitch, I will open and Haider Ali will move down to No.5.

Can i swap positions with Hadi Rizvi , skip? I feel like it's time to move up the order :butt

Been letting the team down lately  feel free to replace me, esp for our next must win game! :))

Thats because we have been playing on flat pitches lately, most bowlers get smashed in these conditions. You are must for us as a diamond bowler, hopefully you will do well in knock-outs. :)

Yeah?

Last time we lost 9 wickets on a dry pitch, so have made one change i.e Haider at No.3 and you at No.5 to control a collapse.

Dry pitch suits spinners and we have only 1. Should drop Azlan and play a spin AR imo

There ground attributes has low spin and I think skill matters the most, Azlan = 80 while Malik = 60, so these factors makes it too risky in my opinion.

Congrats on the win guys

If anyone finds my form with the bat then please let me know at 090078601 :(

Our next game is against Islamabad and your record against them is quite decent, so hopefully, you will do good in that match. :)

Pitch variation & toss call to be named by Islamabad United.

Ground Characteristics:

Our 2nd play-off match is against Islamabad at their home ground and they have prepared a Normal pitch. We have won both league matches against them, first in round 1 on normal variation and second in round 6 on flat.

Skill-wise they have very strong batting (2 Platinum bat, 2 International Platinum bat, 1 Gold bat and 2 Gold ARs) , while they have quite weak bowling (3 Diamond bowl, 1 Gold bowl and 2 Gold ARs) .

Considering their weak bowling, we will be going with same batting line-up like our 1st play-off match as the probability suggests that they have less chance of penetrating our batting strength.

Peshawar Zalmi Line-up:

1. Hadi Rizvi
2. Manager101 (WK) (C)
3. #Haider Ali

Great win today lads - one win away now!!! :zalmis

Let's see what pitch QG come up with. I sense a spicy or bowling friendly pitch coming up.

Manager101 please wait a bit on this one so that we can take our time to discuss and then play the best possible XI :afridi

Yeah you're right, they've gone with spicy. Just one game to go Zalmi, it will be a different challenge with a bowling friendly pitch this time.

On a spicy pitch, I suggest:

Hamad
MaddG
Hadi
Ritzy
SD
Haider
Azzurri
Manager
Hasan
SA123
Azlan

We could bring in an A/R but I'd continue to back specialists as it's spicy (and not unplayable), and our bowling is our weaker suit as it is.

We could even play another bowler at the #3 position and move everyone else further down the order, but I think that'll be a touch too defensive.

Thoughts? Wouldn’t the likely hood of collapsing be higher with all Plat bats coming one after the other?

Also do consider playing a A/R seems like a good idea on spicy pitch.

Hmm that's true but having any of them at 7 might be too late no? We'd have to put a plat bat at either 3 or 7 which is too early/too late tbh.

Also our A/Rs are international and their bowling skill is straight up trash, at like 60 I think :afaq

Agreed, need more depth. Try Doc and me as the 12th and 13th man

Watson did well in the last game for Quetta.

With 3 plats think you can afford to play one of them at 3 :))

7 isn't too late, since top 2 are bowlers, no? I like the current squad too, but 4,6,7 or 3,5,6 wouldn't be too bad.

Another thing I have noticed opening the batting with 2 tail-Enders doesn’t work. Team always ends up collapsing later on :inti

If we show a little bit of creativity, we can do:

Hamad
Hadi
MaddG

And then keep the rest the same as I originally posted.

Or you know what, Azzurri is diamond so me and him swapping won't be a big deal.

How's this:

Hamad

MaddG
Ritzy
Haider
Azzurri
SD

Hasan
SA123
Azlan

- No 3 consecutive plats
- No opening with 2 tailenders

Final
Match Day: Sunday, 19th April
Venue: Bugti Stadium

:gladiators v :zalmis

Pitch variation to be named by Saturday, 18th April at 23:59 GMT.

Team of 11 players (in batting order) and toss selection to be named by Sunday, 19th April at 12:00 GMT.

Pitch variation & toss call to be named by Quetta Gladiators.

Pitch Variatons Available: Pancake, Road, Flat, Dry, Normal, Spicey, Devilish, Unplayable, Nightmare.

Ground Characteristics:
Bounce: High
Seam: High
Swing: High
Spin: Average
Deterioration: Low
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Analysis:

Our final is at Quetta's home ground and they are preparing a Spicy pitch. Quetta has a contrasting squad to Islamabad, they have a very strong bowling unit ( 1 platinum bowl, 1 platinum international bowl, 2 diamond bowl and 1 platinum AR ) , on the other hand there batting department is slightly weaker ( 1 platinum international bat, 1 diamond bat, 4 gold bat ) . They have the strongest bowling unit in the tournament. Considering the collapsing nature of our batting unit against strong bowling, We should be going with following line-up:

Provisional Line-up:

 1. Manager101 (RHB) (WK) (C) - - - (Batskill = 80)
 2. Lewis Gregory (Bowl AR, RFM) - - - (Batskill = 50) , (Bowlskill = 60)
 3. Hadi Rizvi (LHB) - - - (Batskill = 80)
 4. Azzurri (LHB) - - - (Batskill = 85)
 5. Haider Ali (RHB) - - - (Batskill =90)
 6. ritzy_123 (LHB) - - - (Batskill = 95)
 7. Square Drive (RHB) (VC) - - - (Batskill = 95)
 8. Hasan Ali (RFM) - - - (Batskill = 35) , (Bowlskill = 90)
 9. maddgenius (LF) - - - (Batskill = 30) , (Bowlskill =85)
 10. shahidafridi123 (RF) - - - (Batskill = 30) , (Bowlskill = 85)
 11. Azlan Khan (RFM) - - - (Batskill =25) , (Bowlskill = 80)

Reserves:

 1. Hamad_H (LS) - - - (Batskill = 25) , (Bowlskill = 80)
 2. Sunny_majoka (RFM) - - - (Batskill = 20) , (Bowlskill = 75)
 3. Carlos Brathwaite (Bowl AR, RFM) - - - (Batskill=50) , (Bowlskill=60)
 4. Shoaib Malik (Bowl AR, OS) - - - (Batskill = 50) , (Bowlskill = 60)

Their ground characteristics is a seamers playground so it is best to utilize a five man seam attack with Gregory adding some extra batting skills. Lastly, we should avoid chasing against Quetta's bowling, best thing to do is set a target and then our bowling (which is comparatively lot better then their batting) can defend a target of around 150-160 on spicy.

You guys have trusted me all the time in setting the line-up, I need your support for just one more match. :)

We may or may not win, but I think the above line-up should give us a fighting chance.

Given that it is a spicy pitch, we're bound to lose an early wicket or two so your lineup makes sense. However, I was just wondering whether bunching all our good batsmen together in the middle order is a bit risky. Also I feel that our top 4 could eat a lot of dot balls so we need at least one attacking batsman in there who can maintain the RR after early wickets.

One thing I've noticed is that Haider Ali is phenomenal at 3 as he counter attacks very quickly and can smash Quetta's best bowlers who might operate around overs 4-12.

Hence my only suggestion is to put Haider Ali at 3 and push me and Azzurri down to 4 and 5.
While we're at it let's hope we both have saved our best for the last game :)

Best of luck guys. Whether we lose or we win, its been a pleasure through and through.

Let's get that trophy.

On previous occasion at Quetta's home ground in same conditions, we got all-out for just 121 chasing 160, although we have better batting after mid-season break but on spicy we are bound to lose 4-5 wickets in initial 10 overs, so it would better to lose the Gold, AR and diamond ones early on and then our platinum bats should survive considering Quetta would have bowled most overs of their platinum bowlers.

Manager101

Seeing that their ground favours pacers, I think Gregory for Hamad would be a good move.

However in the batting order, I think our 8-11 should not be that weak. And also, not in favour of 3 platinums one after the other.

A couple of tweaks I'd make:

Lewis
Hadi (has blunted the new ball well)
MaddG
Ritzy
Haider
Azzurri
SD
Manager
Hasan

I think this is a fair XI as it incorporates all our changes and reaches a middle ground:

- we play an A/R in a 5 man attack
- top order is weak but not as weak as before, as we have a batsman, a A/R, and only one tailender in the top 3
- Middle and lower-order are both very strong
- no 3 platinum bats in a row
- Batting till #8, with Hasan at 9

Thoughts?

Also Manager101 I think #5 for our first platinum bat is way too late. Pitch is spicy, not unplayable. That's also why my suggested XI in the post above is the way it is.

Let me know what you think!

Also Manager101 I really feel we have to have a proper batsman at #8 because we will definitely lose 6 wickets at least on this pitch. Having our tail starting at #8 would then give them an opening to bowl us out, whereas if we have you there inatead, you can hold an end and form an actual partnership for the 7th wicket.

Seeing that their ground favours pacers, I think Gregory for Hamad would be a good move.

However in the batting order, I think our 8-11 should not be that weak. And also, not in favour of 3 platinums one after the other.

A couple of tweaks I'd make:

Lewis
Hadi (has blunted the new ball well)
MaddG
Ritzy
Haider
Azzurri
SD
Manager
Hasan

I am not in favor of a bowler batting in top-order to be honest, he can easily initiate a collapse. Secondly I want all of our gold and diamond bats to play through initial 10 overs so our platinum coming after 5 should face the weaker bowler of QG since most of their platinum bowlers would have bowled 2-3 overs.
