pre > post. Bowling roughly same, but that pre-2000 top 6 is ridiculous.

Not even contest the pre team you have mentioned would lose badly.... Cricket has evolved too much from
When the likes of Hobbs, Bradman, laker sobers used to play.. They are Legends and were amazing for their era but compared to modern day players they are too far behind..

Depends on the pitch. If it's a bowling pitch PRE 2000 if its a batting pitch POST-2000.

Your Pre-2000 Test XI is not the strongest. Infact, it would get walloped every day of the week. Try this:
Gavaskar
Majid
Bradman
Viv
Border
Imran
Marsh
Botham
Hadlee
Marshall
Garner

Pre easily. Batting is ridiculous, and that's not taking into account they played on harder batting conditions.

I would have had Barry Richards instead of Majid I would always include Gary Sobers-the greatest cricketer ever.

No spin bowler?

No spin bowler?

Don't need one. The WI's joked that Garner was the spinner because he was the slowest.
Plus, there was no great spinner that could single-handingly win you the match. Even Qadir was more hype than output.

What about players who played both sides of the millennium? Why pick Akram post 2000 when he was at his best pre 2000? Warne should make the pre 2000 bowling line up, Murali the post. Lara, like Akram, has his best work in the pre 2000s as well. Why is Graeme POllock, with a handful of tests there instead of more tried, tested batsmen with thousands of more runs and experiences across continents?

I'll post my XIs in a bit but I think I'll keep them strictly to players who played the majority of careers in one of the centuries.

Possibly Still Bradman,Sobers and Viv do not have an equal.Gary would dull overshadow Kallis while hard to envisage Lara or Sachin equalling Bradman or surpassing Viv.That too Imran and Marshall joining them who would also rank amongst the dozen best cricketers of all time.

People over estimate the past yes players before 1970’s were good for that era however cricket has a come a long way from then, the pre team you posted will lose every match within 3 days.. Bradman was a great batsman for his time and is undoubtedly one of the greatest cricketers but no offence he wont last an over against Someone like Wasim..

Just watch the footage of Hobbs, Bradman etc batting on YouTube they have to post videos in fast forward mode to make it look half decent.. At normal speed it just shows the stands of cricket at that time compared to today was like school boys playing..

Ambrose was a nobody for post 2000s decade. He shouldn't be there

Pre will win because they have the greatest batsmen, bowler, openers and all-rounders of all-time.

However, their spinner will be crushed by post 2000s batsmen( Viru, Lara, Tendulkar, Kallis) while Warney against pre 2000s will be more competitive.
