I have a feeling he will be a 2nd innings star..

I am predicting a big 70 plus score in the 2nd..

Although I back him I think Starc will have him lbw early.

If he comes off we will win the match.
Our main hope in SA too.

25 in the first innings caught behind off the glove attempting to hook.

78 in the second innings stumped by a wide delivery off a spinner.

I'll be happy if he can last till first session break in both innings.

He will be under less pressure to score quickly. He will need to be patient, get used to the UAE wickets and once in then go for broke.

The "hack" will prove you wrong :)

I didn't post that to put him down, therefore there is nothing to prove there. As opener, his first job is to see through 1st session/new ball - runs are immaterial here. A blasted 58 in an hour hardly serves the purpose of opener, rather staying in middle is more important. He is an aggressive player, so obviously if he can stay for 2 hours should easily cross 50, but here I want him to see fighting against own instinct.

As you know - I never judge batsman from statguru, check if he is serving his purpose or not AND how.

just one 50 to get his confidence up

however, in the UAE, a 100 is not beyond his reach

We are forgetting the fact that he is out of form. I am not expecting a big score

He's struggled in the UAE because he's been trying to score too fast and not settle in. Now there is no time pressure.

Head and shoulders above other so called Test players!

Sorry what did Shafiq and Azhar do? The former on course for another pair. If it's meant to be this won't be his first or second for that matter. Embarrasing post.

So - what now?

what other gems are waiting for a chance in FC?? who have we neglected?? I know alot of people are upset with Azhar but he is out of form not rubbish..Haris and shafiq are starting to annoy me and babar isnt ready..

Look at this "expert" :yk:yk:yk

Explanation was given in post no. 14, which obvious troll has missed out.

Look at this troll guys .......... what a shame.

Don't you get tiered?

So - what now?

Indeed batted well, which I have praised in match thread already.

Also, why you are taking it like I expected him to fail - I wanted him to succeed as opener, and he did exceptionally well, should have resisted in last over, but still great. There are many posters here putting figures from 0 to 200, I expected him to perform opener's role, which he indeed served.

You've been calling him a hack for weeks now.

He is a hack, but I don't think I am the one calling him that - there are many others. In fact, I rather say that he is in brilliant touch at his prime for his hand eye, despite poor technique - PAK should cash on his best few years.

Any way, can't you get better of this habit of making staff when your favorite players are performing? Enjoy the game & players, rather than trying to settle score - FZ is not going to score 94 every time and you are setting a bad precedence here.

We live in an era of cricket where technique is now over rated.. its more about mental strength, situational awareness and whatnot.. i think fakhar did well compared to our so called best test batsmen..

Stage is set for him in the second innings.

32* so far.

MashaAllah, proving many of his doubters wrong. I for one didn’t expect him to play with this much confidence in both innings. What a gem of a cricketer Pakistan has unearthed

The best thing is that with him in the lineup you actually look forward to Pakistan’s batting. You know there is always a boundary or a 6 round the corner

78 in the second innings stumped by a wide delivery off a spinner.

94 and 66 in his First Test.

A debut innings worth its weight in gold especially since he oversaw his side slip from 57-1 to 57-5.

He has one thing that cannot be taught: stoicism.

I predict

First innings: 94

and

Second innings: 60 something.

I also thing he will get out to spinners both time.

:))
