The squad for Pakistan will be announced today but this is one format where Pakistan do have a good chance of giving a good account of themselves.

Going by rumours, likes of Sharjeel Khan could well make an appearance but all in all, I feel Pakistan have the upper hand.

ODIs are Pakistan strongest format. I don't doubt that at all.

Pak 2 - 1 NZ

NZ are a very good side in ODIs. Ranked no. 1 I think. For Pakistan a lot depends on how good a comeback Haris Rauf and Shaheen are making. Tight series, can go either way 2-1.

Kiwis have a decent squad

They will one of the first two and set up a good final I recon

Pakistan will win they have picked players who are good against spin 2-1
Haris
Babar
Kamran
Tayyab Tahir.

3-0 New Zealand

Without Shaheen and Rauf I can’t see our bowlers taking 10 wickets.

Fakhar is coming back from injury so won’t expect much from him.

We still don’t have a settled batting line up in ODI’s.

Our middle order is non existent. Our last ODI was played vs Netherlands in August, and our middle order consisted of Agha Salman, Khushdil Shah and Mohammad Haris.

Our spin department has weakened with the absence of Shadab Khan. Mohammad Nawaz bowing 10 overs is an overkill.

Our Top order will be Imam, Babar Azam and Shan Masood. If I say something the mods will ban me.

Haris Sohail is back which is good news, the bad news is that unless he’s covered in bubble wrap, he’ll be out injured.

3-0 NZ

Sharjeel Khan was not included in Squad.

Babar might score some useless 50s and maybe a useless 100.

If Pakistan win 3-0 in ODI series, they will become the number one ranked ODI side

New zeland are a better team than pak.

Pak pitches hold no home advantage

2-1 new Zealand

2-1 NZ, our bowling looks weak with Key injuries and Kiwis will expose that.

It all depends. If Babar picked his friends then most likely 2 to 1 in favor of NZ.

If Babar picked players who can play spin then 2 to 1 in favor of Pakistan.

2-1 if not 3-0 NZ.

Pakistan aren't great in this format.

Pakistan at the best will lose with small margin 1-2. Not sure how Fakhar will perform and I don't have much hope from Harris Sohail, the injury prone roadmaster,

I've gone for 2-1 to NZ.

Strong format for Pakistan but NZ look the better balanced squad.

Latham and Conway are in top form and more than Williamson, I think Pakistan need to target those two wickets.

A lot will depend on the nature of the pitches, although I've gone with 2-1 to Pakistan, if the pitches are completely flat then it will be advantage NZ. If the pitches are more like spin friendly and a little difficult to score on then I think Pakistan can make use of the home advantage and win the series 2-1. Pakistan usually thrive in low scoring contests and chasing down 250 type scores, they are not good in making 350s and all, that will be a disaster.

2-1 either way.

Leaning towards New Zealand.

3-0 to Pakistan!

We have lost so many tests. Time to win JAMODI series and celebrate it with a strawberry cake :yk

3-0 New Zealand will whitewash Pakistan although Babar will score 68(89),112(145) and 51(83) innings.

Expecting Pakistan to end the drought and win the series emphatically. The health of their white ball team has anyway been a lot better than their red ball team. Pakistan is a world beater in white ball cricket anywhere in the world.

Pakistan has to really aim at entering the 2023 world cup with a dependable batting line-up.

England C team wiped the floor with our main ODI team last year in England

Pakistan is playing a reasonably strong NZ team

I dont think this or that will make a difference.

Pakistan batting is just not upto scratch...they dont have a decent no 5 or 6, which they havent in the last 10 yrs, to be a consistently dangerous side.

3 - 0 to NZ

NZ are missing 4-5 of their top ODI bowlers in Milne, Boult, Jamieson, Santner & Henry so Pakistan should win at home on their low slow pitches that Babar finds so easy.

Therefore Pakistan either 3-0 or 2-1

3-0 to Pakistan. I really like the selection today which i think will be the combination we use for the WC, barring the occasional surface where we may go with 4 seamers.

The team is shaping up well already and the competition is clear for certain spots while others are set in stone.

Imam
Fakhar
Babar
Haris Sohail / Shan Masood / Kamran Ghulam
Mohammad Rizwan / Sarfaraz
Agha Salman / Chacha Iftikhar
Shadab
Nawaz
Shaheen
Rauf
Naseem

May the best men win, but barring a power hitter i think we've already got a lot of bases covered.

Pakistan are missing shadab and Shaheen which is half the bowling line up.

New Zealand is missing Trent Boult while Pak is missing Shaheen.
So it's even stevens. :inti

Neesham is also not playing. :inti

Well the dream of 3-0 whitewash is over.

Maybe focus on the current game rather than looking at becoming number 1 team in the world according to some dodgy rankings.

I think they completely forgot about the RRR on the pitch today.

Called it right. 2-1 with a tight decider. If Pakistan had Naseem Shah they would have won.

Naseem wouldn't have changed the result. Chase was easy until the run outs. We don't normally have 2 run outs an innings and in the end it was a comfortable chase with the game pretty much done 4-5 overs to spare.

Pakistan had 2 run outs too and Conway survived an LBW.
Naseem would have surely picked a wicket early and built pressure.
I agree that NZ in ODIs are a top side as good as any at the moment. With such a good spin attack and Henry and Boult in the world cup they will be one of the favorites.

Pakistan are not a good fielding side, most expect them to drop at least 1-2 catches a game. Nor are the among the best teams when it comes to running between wickets.

NZ is among the most professional sides in the world and it's why we have the best planning, fielding and runners between the wicket. It narrows the gap in quality when we come up against top teams with more talent. Pakistan are not among the best fielding sides or the best at running between wicket, it is why you see a lot of comical run outs or dropped catches from them more often than most teams.

It's just odd why I keep seeing Pakistani's talking about these chances when it's the norm. You can't suddenly make up for that ability. Like batting and bowling, it's a skill and an area Pakistan is lacking. If they were able to sort it out they would be right up there trying to break into the top 2.

That being said, this can be just put down to attitude and players from NZ, Aus, Eng etc. just on average being more athletic and being able to field and run between wickets better as a result.
