Brilliant recovery from Pakistan to draw the 2nd Test in Karachi after what looked like a certain defeat.

Do you think Pakistan can take that confidence into the 3rd Test in Lahore and win the match and series?

So far we've seen very little from the bowling to suggest they can take 20 Australian wickets on these surfaces. They ought to take a gamble with a wrist spinner as otherwise the only options with the same team are draw or lose.

Will depend heavily on the toss. I chuckled when I read that they are bringing an ex-MCG and ICC Academy curator to curate the pitch. Looks like they don't want any eff ups this time.

Want to believe that Pakistan will win.

3 or more Test match series ending 0-0

Australia last occurrence 2001/02 vs New zealand

Pakistans last occurrence 1989/90 vs India

0-0 in 3 match series for either side is rare , so il go pakistan win 1-0 as long as we get a surface like we got for SA series.

I would still back Australia. They dominated the 2nd Test match and had they hung on to their catches, it would've been a victory.

I don't think there is any moral victory for Pakistan by drawing the 2nd Test match. These things don't matter at all. If anything, I'd put Australia as higher favorites for the 3rd Test match now. Pakistani batsmen have batted two days under severe pressure and that would've taken a massive toll on the mental state of these batsmen. To maintain that much concentration for 2 back-to-back Test matches is extremely difficult. Australia would be much more fitter and calmer.

For Pakistan to win, they have to go for a rank turner or take a gamble in preparing a green top and then hope they bowl first. You have to make pitches that allows your bowlers to take 20 wickets otherwise there is no chance for Pakistan.

The question should be about predicting the pitch. If it is the same dead pitch then it is going to be 0-0.

Dead pitch narrows the gap between teams and it is harder to force a result.

I am expecting to see another flat pitch. So, we can see another draw.

0-0 seems likely.

This draw is surely a confidence booster for Pakistan.

Australia played their best game(scoring 550 and blowing over Pak for 140) but still couldn't come out with a win.
These performances would be tough to replicate for Aussies going forward.

On other hand Pakistan will be booming with confidence having saved the game after batting out 172 overs (highest ever by any team)

Pathetic display of bowling in the 2nd test from Pakistan doesn't provide much confidence. The only way Pakistan can win is by creating a turning track. If Pakistan prepares a track for the fast bowlers, Aussies are far far superior in skill and experience, they will surely destroy Pakistan batting.

My prediction
Spinning track - Bowl to start spinning at the end of Day 1

Pakistan to bat first score 350+
Australia to get bowled under 300

Pakistan to bat again and score 250

Aussies to chase 300 + on the spinning track DAY 4/5

I am sold to the above if it happens, doesnt matter what the result would be

Qaddafi Stadium has hosted 40 test matches & out of those 22 ended as a draw.

So my prediction for this match is another draw.

Pakistani batsmen are now less scared of Aussies bowler now . Babar, Abdullag and RIzwan likely to score big again with contribution from Imam and Azhar ( if wicket is flat ). Pakistani bowlers not capable of taking 20 wicket , so I think it will be drawn again or Australian win.

After getting a fantastic draw a feel we are in the ascendancy. I feel we will win the decider.

Anything but a draw I hope. If we can prepare a rank turner and win the toss to have them chase 4th innings, we will have a huge chance of victory.

Looking at the pictures so far it looks like it's going to be a pitch similar to the first 2 Tests.

I've gone for a draw.

If Pakistan wins the toss, then probability of Pakistan victory will be higher. Aussies are bound to have one bad batting collapse in this series.

Win toss and we have a chance.

Didn't happen but feel that honours just about even.

Well historically Gaddafi stadium is not bad for chasing in 4th innings.

Lets not forget that from 1959-1978
All teams which won test matches at Gaddafi stadium, won it by chasing.

Benaud’s Aussies chased 123/3 in 59
Eng chased down 208/5 in 1961
Kiwiz chased 82/5 in 1969
Pak chased 105/4 in 1976
Pak chased 128/2 i think in 78 v India
In 2003 Pak chased 164/2 v Proteas as well

What we can see is a trend that mid level scores uptill 210-220 MAX can be chased down in Lahore.

Ideally given our weak batting lineup, Babar and compsny shall not be chasing beyond 120 in 4th innings.
I am saying 120 because i have seen some meltdowns in Asia quite a lot recently.

I remember failure to chase 140 odd v proteas in 1997 or 134 v sri lanka in uae or 174 twice v nzl in 18 or 170 odd v sri lanka in 09.

174 v nzl was looking so good with 140 odd for 3/4 wickets and then collapse.,

After Australia won the toss I was expecting the score to be 300/1 or 290/2 at the end of day 1 but Pakistani bowlers bowled really well. So after the end of day 1 I'd say it's 55-45 in favor of Pakistan.

If Pakistan can bundle Australia out quickly and pick up these last 5 wickets for another 60-70 runs, we will be in with a huge chance of victory.

with this lead, Australia has to play really badly to lose this match.

There are only two possibilities now, either Australia wins or it will be a draw.

Can Pakistan survive 100-110 overs to secure a draw and save the series ?

Batted for 170 overs in the final innings of the Second Test to secure a well fought draw and here they are once again fighting for survival.

This time may have to survive a little over final days play.

How much % chance do you think Pakistan has to save the series on the final day ?

This pitch is much different than Karachi Pitch. It will be very difficult to survive. Australia will probably try to bat until team tomorrow.

I think they can survive 100-110 overs but anymore than that will be tough.Australia will try and get a lead of 320-350

Did Pakistan seriously believe we will outlast Australia in an attrition battle

These Australians are hard nosed brought up on test cricket culture the best way to beat them is take a lead while they are getting used to conditions no way a team like Pakistan which plays half the number of test games then Australia will be able to out last them in a long draw chess battle we don't have the expiernce and culture to play long drawn series on the neither hand Australians are regularly playing 4-5 tests series.
