Imran's mistake has been he started to believe his own myth as the numero uno leader which was artificially propped up by Army. He miscalculated his capacity out of that delusion and wanted to escalate the situation assuming that people in the street behind him and ready to go any length with Army bending their knee in obedience. Along with his typical arrogance, marked by false self righteousness, his hunger for absolute power grew on the assumption that he has now over grown his employers and can trump them with mob power and propaganda, the same tools that army has used in past to oust other dissenters to propel Imran to premiership. This has led to his extreme rigid stance restricting him from any power sharing equation with political peers, alienating almost all of them and name calling foreign powers and army officers regardless of true or false , eventually taking things to a point of no return.

It's now Army, who sponsored Imran to where he is today are ready to escalate against Imran's expectations and infact ready to make Imran's words true if need be. In some sense Imran got lucky with Bajwa that he was allowed to come to this point. Guys like Musharraf or Zia would have regulated his tantrums very early had he tried the same with them, probably a stronger Army chief would have kept Imran on check much earlier and did not let this evolve into a political crisis as it is today .

Roads leading to Zaman Park blocked

Lahore police have “no intention” of conducting an operation at PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s Zaman Park residence in Lahore, Dawn.com’s correspondent Wasim Riaz has reported.

1. Authorities wanted to conduct an operation on the pretext that 30/40 people who took part in May 9 protests were hiding at Zaman Park. Hence, it was a good move to have the area cleared of supporters.

2. The initial reason to camp outside Zaman Park was to prevent Imran Khan's illegal arrest. This is no longer a major issue as the court has ordered that Imran Khan cannot be arrested in any case until the next hearing on 31 May 2023. Anyone who does so will be in contempt of court.

May 9 was just a trailer, Pakistan is burning as it is. The only people really effected by May 9 Protests were the upper classes. A poor man didn't have roti to eat before 9 May and doesn't have roti to eat after 9 May.

The Punjab police have claimed to have arrested eight persons, allegedly involved in the vandalism on May 9, trying to flee PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s Zaman Park residence.

Senior Superintendent of Police Hasan Javid said the suspects were trying to flee the ex-premier’s residence through a nearby bridge nearby.

“We have information that 30 to 40 people who were involved in these incidents are holed up inside,” he told media persons. “That is why we had placed checkpoints. Right now we took eight persons in custody.”

SSP Javid alleged that many others were trying to get out of Zaman Park but retreated as soon as they saw the police.

“We arrested them right now and even presented them before you all. Now we are taking them,” he said. “There will be a detailed interrogation. We will share details with you.”

When asked about the next plan of action, SSP Javid said the police would act according to what their leadership decided.

If they catch and arrest them they will declare that it's now proven that Imran is a terrorist and was harbouring them.

Warrants to search Imran’s Zaman Park residence obtained: Lahore police

Lahore police have obtained search warrants to conduct a thorough search of Imran’s residence located in Zaman Park, according to police statement.

Under the supervision of the superintendent of police, a team of officials, including female officers, will carry out the search operation at the residence.

As per the statement, the search will encompass a thorough examination of both the entrance and exit points of the residence, with the primary objective of finding “terrorists” hiding at the place.

Punjab police delegation arrive at Zaman Park, to hold negotiations with Imran

A four-member delegation of the Punjab police has arrived at the Zaman Park residence of former prime minister Imran Khan.

Dawn.com correspondent Ali Waqar — who is present at the PTI chairman’s house — said the delegation comprises Lahore Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Lahore Deputy Commissioner Rafia Haider, DIG Operations Sadiq Dogar and SSP Operations Sohaib.

The team will meet Imran and hold negotiations with him to conduct a search operation at Zaman Park. It has also obtained a search warrant.

Earlier, Punjab interim Information Minister Amir Mir had claimed that nearly 30 to 40 people — whom the government has called “terrorists” — have been holed up inside Imran’s house.

The Punjab interim government on Friday said it had failed to reach an agreement with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on carrying out a search operation at his Zaman Park residence in Lahore.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on Friday condemned the attack on Jinnah House, which occurred following his arrest on May 9, and said that it brought ‘disgrace’ to the country.

Talking to media personnel during his appearance at an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in the provincial capital, the former premier said that the event should “not have happened” and condemned it as he had “earlier as well”.

After Imran’s arrest, angered rioters torched the historical Jinnah House, which was being used as the residence of the Lahore corps commander.

In his conversation with reporters today, Imran maintained that “every Pakistani” was condemning the attack.

Talking about the Punjab caretaker information minister's claim that Imran was hiding terrorists responsible for the May 9 riots inside his Lahore residence, the PTI chairperson said that he had “opened his house” for the media to see and emphasised that there was no truth in the claims.

According to Imran, the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM)'s actions and human rights violations have brought the country to disrepute and Pakistan cannot function on “fear”. He said that the PDM has trapped itself by arresting "7,000" people.

He maintained that one-sided negotiations cannot take place with the incumbent government and claimed that his party had been talking about negotiations for the past 11 months.

Speaking about the PTI, the party chairman said, “A party with so much vote bank cannot be defeated. It does not matter who comes and goes.”

LAHORE: The Punjab government on Friday decided to devise “its own ways” to arrest alleged arsonists holed up at the Zaman Park residence of PTI Chairman Imran Khan soon after its three-member team comprising senior district administration and police officers failed to reach ‘consensus SOPs’ with the party leadership for searching the house.

Separately, the former prime minister said he did not allow the government team to enter his residence, insisting that search should be conducted as per the guidelines set by the Lahore High Court: one person from each side.

Before the visit of the team, headed by Lahore Division Commissioner Mohammad Ali Randhawa and comprising SSP (operations) Sohaib Ashraf and Lahore Deputy Commissioner Rafia Haider, to Mr Khan’s residence, conflicting reports emerged whether the police were going to launch a search operation or just visiting the house to hold negotiations with the former prime minister.

The confusion deepened when nearly 400 police personnel were put on alert for escorting the government team to the residence of Mr Khan.

However, Punjab’s caretaker Information Minister Aamir Mir later explained that the team had “just visited” the residence of Imran Khan to devise SOPs to carry out a search operation. He told a news channel about the deadlock persisted between the visiting team and the PTI chairman, saying both sides couldn’t reach any consensus in this respect.

He said the government team had handed over a list of nearly 2,200 alleged miscreants of the PTI wanted by the Punjab police for carrying out attacks on military installations, including Corps Commander House in Lahore. PTI’s senior leaders, including Azam Swati, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Hassan Niazi, Zubair Niazi, Hammad Azhar, Fawad Chaudhry and Asad Umar were also among them, he claimed.
