NZ had a great period between 2014-15 when, under McCullum's captaincy, they beat Wi, India, SL, Pakistan and reached the final of the 2015 WC.

However, the feels have fallen off recently culminating in them being the first team to be eliminated from the 2017 CT...

First and foremost - Guptill is a great opener and one of the most destructive around. However, he is incredibly inconsistent and should look to be more reliable.

Kane Williamson is one of their brightest spark right now - incredibly consistent and can easily bat at a SR of 85+. Great player to watch!

Now comes Ross Taylor - that guy can hit big and has been one of the best batsman for NZ over the years. However he is also a tuk tuk. Most of his innings I see from him nowadays he strolls along a SR of 70-75 for most of his innings can usually gets out after about 30-40 runs. He can certainly do better but NZ may also think about dropping him due to his slow batting.

Now the real issue. To be frank - Broom has never impressed me and Neeshan, Anderson and even Santner are all rubbish with the bat. Probably just down to poor form right now but Anderson in particular really has disappointed me - had very high hopes from him when he broke Afridi's record back in New Years 2014 but looks like his career hasn't taken off as it should. Hope he can turn it around.

I think NZ are missing a batsman and this is where Grant Elliot would have been so useful. Pretty consistent and can hit big too - ideal at number 5.

Hope NZ can turn it around...

They have the same problems Pakistan has. Too many players playing for themselves at a low strike rate to assure that they will get selected. They also lack an imaginative captain although Sarfraz is a lot better than Williamson and their star player does not evoke aggression or risk ( Williamson and Babar for Pakistan ).

They reached the WC final playing all games at home till then at home like SL did in 2011. They did not beat any good sides away from home under McCullum in any Test series, the McCullum revolution is a bit of a myth.

Very few teams did, we won a series in WI, drew in UAE and England.

Why is Munro not playing? Team selection is an issue, McClaganhan and Henry being dropped for Milne and Boult.

The openers and Williamson are good in batting, others need to be shaken up a bit

Babar Azam is a similar type of player as Williamson

I would say pak is well off newzealand because if we get in trouble the Experiance and ABILLITY will take us to a decent score.

Our problem is the SR when players get 50 they accelerate late you should look to accelerate after 30.but if you talk about NZ 45/3 then they are in trouble whilst if Pak are at 45/3 we can except the players to take us to safer waters

NZ lower order lacks quality. Corey and Neesham don't have much ability to play a longish innings. Both are talented but are yet to perform for an extended period of time.

There is no problem whatsoever with their team.... they have all the basis covered.
All three departments are quite nicely balanced...
The problem is that after BAZ left they have chosen ultra defensive mode....
Williamson hasn't been able to replicate BAZ as a captian...
BAZ was an ultra aggressive captian who attacked right from the first ball... and that ultimately worked for them...
I remember he made Trent Boult bowl his full quota of overs without any break during a World Cup match(opening spell of 10 overs)... Trent atleast bowled 5-6 overs in his opening spell at world cup... He did similar things with Southee.
Guptill was a beast during BAZ's captaincy... he used to attack from the first ball.... Now he is no more same.
After BAZ left NZ dumped Munro somewhere... and started opening with Latham(no doubt he is a good player but he is limited)
Boult isn't same anymore and Southee has regressed a lot....
They brought back Niel Broom, who is no way suited for Modern LOI's.... Also they brought Jeetan Patel and Sodhi was dumped in placeof him which was another bad move...
There is definitely no lack of talent......
They have got everything express pace bowlers, medium pacers, spinners, Attacking batsman, Classy batsman, Great Fielders....
The problem is that they have chosen the self destruction mode....
They just need to go back to BAZ's model of captaincy which is ULTRA AGGRESSIVE...

New Zealand have a lot of talent coming through the ranks. They just need a better captain - similar to South Africa.

They need to play Tom latham , one extra batsman has to come in , that will make them more consistent

Also Milne seems mediocre to me too.

Just raw pace and nothing else - would rather play McClenaghan

They needed Mitchell McClenaghan in place of Adam Milne.

They really miss the captaincy & firepower of Brendon McCullum at the top of the order. He single handedly changed the team culture. NZ tried to recreate it with putting Ronchi at the top. They need Latham.

Finally, the poor form of Corey & Neesham cost them badly. They also need to prepare Ish Sodhi as a wicket taking option.
