LAHORE: Members of a minority community facing a trial in an anti-terrorism court, were reportedly approached by a prosecutor who told them that he ‘could guarantee their acquittal’ if they renounced their faith and embraced Islam, rights activists claim.

According to Joseph Franci, a human rights activist, Deputy District Public Prosecutor Syed Anees Shah gathered the accused outside the courtroom and had this conversation with them.

Some 42 members of the Christian community were charged with lynching two men in protests that broke out after the twin suicide blasts in Youhanabad in Lahore on March 15, 2015.

CJ, India has enough problems too.

I hope these threads are not being started to show Pak in bad light just because some Pak Posters are doing it to India.

Fact is, India and Pak has long long way to go before we can match the Western standards of secularism. Both are religious countries (Pak even more) and preachers wield a lot of power. People are poverty stricken and seek solace in Religion and God. Easy to manipulate the Aam Admi and brainwash them when they are so much into religion.

So one lawyer having a conversation with some Christians becomes news LMAO

Despite the obvious intent of this thread, I have enough objectivity to call a spade a spade and won't defend my countryman even when he has done something obviously wrong. This is a trait which is not very common amongst some people who frequent PakPassion.

The prosecutor (which for the uninformed is another term for lawyer) should lose his license to practice for this offense. This is unacceptable.

Read this news before, it's shameful but it's just a suggestion.... Won't be implemented.

Agreed. There should be no place for such dull minded comments from someone who represents justice in Pakistan society.

Prosecutor s completely in the wrong. Religion has become a business in so many places. No one can be forced to accept Islam, ever.

People like this prosecutor are part of the problem. He is basically helping murderers to get away from justice if they change their religion. Not only he should be fired but they should look at previous cases under him too. I bet he helped criminals escape the punishment in past.

Not just shameful but harmful to our justice system. This guy should not be a prosecutor from now on. But knowing Badshah Salamat nothing will happen to this guy. Nothing positive ever happens in Punjab unless Badshah Salamat's brother takes a notice.

islamic jurisprudence says otherwise:

“When you meet your enemies who are polytheists, invite them to three courses of action. If they respond to any one of these, you also accept it and withhold yourself from doing them any harm.

Invite them to Islam; if they respond to you, accept it from them and desist from fighting against them.
If they refuse to accept Islam, demand from them the jizya. If they agree to pay, accept it from them and hold off your hands.
If they refuse to pay the tax, seek Allah’s help and fight them"
[Sahih Muslim : 19 : 4294]

Did you just dig up an 8 year old thread with just 20 posts to reply to a random post?

Kudos to your dedication on Islam bashing.

Frankly this hadees is 1200 years old.

sunnah of prophet is applicable forever: 8 years ago, now, 8 years after.

Apparently you have misgivings about the 3 "sahih" stipulations.

Are you a bot or one of those brainless paid IT cell employees who just type what their script tells them to without reading replies or understanding what the other person meant?

After your reply to me, I refuse to accept that you are a real human being (I consider IT cell employees as bots as well).

I understand you completely. I live amongst you. I am you. Well almost.

You seem perturbed by the hadees, hence taking it out by calling names. Just grade school stuff.

Nevertheless, you refuse to accept sunnah -- albeit grudgingly -- as way of life in current times. Kudos to you as well.

Not Islam bashing. More like muslim bashing.

People need to distinguish between what Islam says and its context and what Muslims do.

Big difference.

All well and good, so for Muslim bashing it’s OK to dig up an 8 year old thread with 14 posts to quote a random post out of those 14 and bash Muslims?

Like I said, that’s some dedication on Muslim bashing. Kudos to the guy for being that determined.

Hate to sound pedantic but I dug up this hadees from 1200 years prior.

It is the very core for shariah countries like islamic republic of pakistan and islamic emirate of afghanistan.

I'd be on a limb and say you don't live in any of these islamics, hence could care less for islamic jurisprudence. Lucky you.
