Pakistan has always been known for producing fast bowlers. From past legends like Wasim, Waqar and Shoaib to the current generation like Haris Rauf, Hasnain, Shaheen, pace bowling has been a big part of Pakistan’s cricket identity. The new bowlers are also carrying this legacy and continuing the tradition of fast bowling.

This thread will track the PSL Speed Watch where we will note the top bowling speeds during the tournament. The Pakistan Super League is especially known for its strong bowling quality so now let’s see who bowls the fastest delivery this season and which new pacer makes a name for himself.

What is Shaheen bowling at? not watching but seeing him get smoked means he is trundling

Lol. You have come to this conclusion after watching him in one match?
Lol yes I did because I’ve been watching him for the last 5 years and he’s quite rubbish and has regressed rather than progress. Bowls gun barrel straight waiting to be carted

Pakistan need a wicket taking bowler, be it the one with late 130s pace , ability to have both swings.

Phasst bowler like Rauf has already let them down on many occasions

We have seen enough premium ppphhhaaaaasssst bowlers who are just trundlers and bottlers when the pressure comes... Don't need blind bowling machines with no brain.

What do you want then? A premium Ishlow
Bowler who gets thrashed too?

I want some 150s. And yes I only care about pace.

Fawad Ali is probably the only one who can hit 150 kph but have no idea about his form & ability post injury.

Zeeshan Zameer also had decent pace but again he was out injured so let's see how, when, & if he can make a comeback. Not sure of his exact speed but Muhammad Salman also seems to have an extra yard or two in him.

I don't think there's a single bowler in Pak currently that can breach 150 kph consistently. The ones who could (Haris, Hasnain, Shaheen, Nasim, & Ihsanullah) have all lost their pace drastically and now aren't even touching 140 let alone anything above it.

An intelligent one.. Pace does not matter..He could be fast, he could be slow but he has to be intellegent and hard working.
Pace doesn’t matter is the laziest argument I’ve ever heard.

If skill level is the same between 2 bowlers, pace is the differentiator and as a result, pace does matter.

Sometimes a lesser skilled 150 bowler is much more effective than a more skilful 130 bowler.

Sometimes a spray gun like Devon Malcolm with hardly any swing, line or length can win a test match by himself

I still think Ali Raza will be the one. He’s not far off 150k, and yes he could improve some skills. There’s a lot of lazy posters who have already written him off. but you give anyone a 150k 19 year old and that’s something to be excited about.

A 5kph average increase is not impossible but very hard to achieve. There's also some loss of flexibility once a person enters their 20s so they need to compensate that & increase muscle/back strength among other things.

Raza has potential but I don't think he will be an express tearaway.

Don't see any Shoaib emerge from this batch.

Ashok had a brilliant smat, hopefully a good ipl will bring him into the national team,he needs injury protection

That’s impressive if the gun is genuine. He should immediately be playing for India
The real challenge is maintaining such speeds in 10 Over ODI or even Test. You will see plenty of bowlers close to 150K in mickey mouse league matches, but sustaining such speeds in international Test or even ODI is more challenging.

What’s going on? Why are teams not playing the quicks capable of getting to 150kph? No Ali Raza who clocked 147.3kph earlier this season. Where is Fawad Ali, not seen him play one game! Depressing times that no teams are pushing the youngsters who can bowl quick???

Can anyone do a summary of speeds of bowlers this season & create a table?

How fast has Obaid been? What about Ali Raza? Any new pacer worth noting down?

My guess would be that if Nahid Rana is playing, he'd be the fastest bowler in the league. Rana, Akif, Rauf would probably be the top 3 for me but not sure as I haven't been able to follow the tournament.

Nahid Rana bowls fast than most Pakistan so called fast bowlers of this generation. Says a lot!

Pretty impressive considering all his injuries.
He's quick but easy to hit. Very predictable and has no real variations or tricks to make him effective in T20 cricket. A lot of work needed if he wants to be successful even in T20 leagues.

Prior to injury he was able to generate a lot more natural, steep bounce and was able to consistently hit those lengths at high pace

When he first arrived , he was actually tougher to hit because of that steeper trajectory and bounce that he was generating. Compared to someone like Haris Rauf whose low trajectory makes him cannon fodder most of the time.

Well he certainly doesn't seem to be showing any of the steep bounce right now. Like I said a lot of work required if he wants to be effective after injury. Maybe he needs to adjust his action or game plan if he's struggling due to the impact of his injuries.

Ihsanullah needs physical and mental training both. Either karachi takes him in as a project or pcb, but they need to groom him and help him get that steep bounce back. He was not that easy to hit in early days.

Haven't followed pak PSL on great detail or any other domestic competitions/A side games, but wasn't Mo Husnain the fastest of them all?
I thot he was good & quick in a T20 or odi series vs aus in aus recently..
