Sangakkara won the toss and continued the trend of captains winning the toss and fielding first. Imad opened the bowling with Amir and it paid dividends in the second over as McCullum was dismissed for a duck. Fakhar counter-attacked in a very aggressive manner with the run-rate over 10 but Sohail struck with a clever slower ball to dismiss Roy. Umar came and put on a brief but dangerous partnership with Fakhar before he was dismissed by Usama for a quick 25. Fakhar continued on his way, getting to a fifty off 33 balls before he fell to Usama as well. Run-scoring was a bit tougher thereafter despite occasional boundaries as Karachi finished well, restricting Lahore to 179/8.
Karachi's chase did not start well as Gayle once again fell cheaply to Narine. Lahore's tight bowling also resulted in the wicket of Babar whose promotion to open didn't pay off. Sangakkara hit boundaries on a regular basis but Malik took some time to get going as the required rate mounted. A spell of 53 runs off 4 overs in the middle of the innings gave the Kings some hope but Qalandars came back strongly with Tanvir first dismissing Sangakkara for 65, followed by Bhatti getting Malik. The lower order couldn't keep up with the equation and Lahore sealed the win with a good last over by Irfan Jr, winning by seven runs.
