PSL 2018 Match 16: Sohaib Maqsood's 85* leads Multan Sultans to 19-run win over Peshawar Zalmi

because there are still people who believe in it :inti

Who else is an option. Other guys I can think of who can hit the ball big are Hussain Talat who has done pretty well, Umar Akmal out of form for ages, Nawaz can definitely hit a few but not sure if he can do that in pressure situations so not many guys for that 4 down kind of position.

Its impressive the way Maqsood has butchered the jobber Pakistani domestic bowlers here.

Really need to see if he can do the same to some of the renown world bowlers, did pretty well against Hassan Ali tbf

A firing Maqsood would be great for Pakistan with his power hitting abilities.

Problem is an aging Malik is hogging the #5 spot which is harming Sarfraz's form, potential power hitters at #6 and #7 and Pakistan cricket.

I hope Badar gets a hit.. Multan Sultan really don't give a rat's behind for youngsters. So much for Waz's tough talk of bringing talent forward.

Credit goes to Moody and Wasim for sticking with Maqsood after failures in first few matches.

Waz is all talk. Truly a blessing he was never made coach.

This MS team would have been confirmed favourites if only Mukhtar Ahmed was there opening with Sanga.

I wouldnt have mind having Mukhtar in place or Khurram in KK or even for Asad Shafiq in QG. He was really hard done

What a shot by Maqsood!! Are we seeing new Sharjeel in making, only if he was an opener. Though dont mind him opening with Fakhar

babajee is today's match poor and embarrassing? I've only caught glimpses of it.

Masood playing the re-emergence innings Sharjeel played a couple of years ago. Smashing Wahab Riaz for a huge six is a hall mark for Pakistan selection

That's a great idea but he might struggle with the new ball.

He is being sarcastic to those who are always crying negatively abt PSL

I wanna see Sohaib Maqsood open with Fakhar that would be a massacre

Today Maqsood took his time and rotated the strike for the first 10 balls, then he launched. That's perfect strategy.

If Maqsood gets a 100 that will be his resurrection.

Not much time left, he as to perform in the semi finals or finals to get fan/media backing and catch the eye of the useless Chief Selector.

Where would he slot though... Talat is more deserving of a selection in the middle order atm

You drop Malik and Hafeez for Talat and Maqsood simple. Assuming the latter two can end PSL 3 well I would go for the following XI:

Fakhar
Babar
Haris
Sarfraz
Talat
Maqsood
Faheem
Shadab
Hasan Ali
Amir
Shinwari (or Junaid)

Remember Karachi Kings wins when Babar Azam fail to score runs, and lose when Babar Azam score runs. Same with Peshawar with Haris Sohail. This should give you idea. Babar Azam and Haris Sohail are not meant for T20 game. May be one of them can play but definitely both.

My take is unless maqsood plays few more innings like this and tops the psl3 batting, he shouldn't be in national team..

I would swap Babar with Haris.

This is the effect of Maqsood getting married right before PSL :afridi

The way he squeezed out the Yorkers over extra cover was impressive

The problem is we shunt Maxi down at number 6 when he is a number 3/4 batsman. When he first came on the scene and flourished in international cricket he batted at 3. Here again he is batting at 3.

We will get the Maqsood of old if we bat him at 6, and herein lies our problem.

I guess there is a misunderstanding. I wasnt talking about T20 format, surely only one of Babar or Haris can play in T20s. I was talking abt ODIs considering world cup is next year

So all things considered 200 hundred was on for Multan if it wasn't for Shehzad's Tuk tuk masterclass

Only solution is to than make Bobs open and push everyone down 1 and take out a fast bowler.

Why not make him open with Fakahr, he played today at 1 down. He is good against bounce as well

Ahmed Shehzad should announce his retirement from T20s right now

If Fakhar is gone in the first over, you have Babar and Haris in the power play. Does not make sense

Must have missed something.
Abdullah719 dear, please put the highlights package (not here, in Maqsood's thread). Hope, the guy who does scouting for Ul Haq has taken enough notes.

I'd have Sarfaraz open with Fakhar and if either goes early in the power play then send Maqsood up the order.

It's embarrassing for Umar Akmal that 8 years older brother has better fitness

What a shot for nothing... Kami is the best Akmal. He is the one who should be genuinely miffed that he didnt have a longer career. The other Akmals were crap

Although he was tried at 3 and critical of Misbah for moving him down to 6/7 - for me his footwork is lacking to be batting in the top 3. Ideally I think he's a number 5 and he can play the Inzi role in the team who also on numerous occasions would bat as low as 6 as a finisher.

If the likes of Babar, Haris, Fakhar and etc can give the team a stable start he's the ideal man with his hitting power to accelerate.

The other option is to play Hafeez there like how he was used in the CT final or Malik- but they're past their sell by date and aren't getting any younger or we play someone like Yamin there but he plays conventional cricket shots so not suited to bat there. The only other choice I can think of is promote Faheem and Shadab by one place in the batting order and play another specialist bowler or all rounder.

Rambo thinks Maqsood is 25 what a baqwas commy:facepalm:

Yeah one more innings of note and he should be in the next squad

Don't see PZ chasing this unless, Kakmal, Fletcher or Smith fires. Otherwise 130 all out.
