Heard that Mohammad Asif will be representing Islamabad United next year.

There couldn't have been a better team for Sir Asif.

Lahore retain:
Fakhar
Mccullum
Yamin
U akmal
Yasir shah
Narine
Zafar gohar
Saif badar
Ghulam
Roy

Drop:
Irfan
Delport
Franklin
Green
Bhatti
Qadir

Drop Delport? Seriously????? Come on man, he is a great player! But unfortunately Mcallum didn't give him chances.

James Franklin
Grant Elliot (with heavy heart)
Mohammad Irfan (Jr.)

Replacements

As Qalandars seriously need strong middle order players to anchor the innings.

So read somewhere that Hashim Amla will play for Lahore Qalandars and Quinton De Qock for Peshawar Zalmi

Qalandars should give Rafay or Saif chance this time.

Saif's best chance is to make an impression in the t20 cup. If Peshawar play Rifatullah ahead of him I give up.
Abdullah719 bhai, is there a requirement to play the emerging player?

I assume the rules will remain the same with one emerging player required in the playing XI. Haven't heard about any changes.

I hope Hassan Ali and Muhammad Asghar aren't in the 'emerging' category anymore. Zalmi had an unfair advantage in PSL 2 because of their emerging players.

KK, LQ, IU, and QG all had relatively unknown and untested players to fill that requirement.

Don't agree with the highlighted part. By the time PSL 2 started, Hasan Ali had only just started his international career and Asghar had yet to (and still hasn't) played for Pakistan.

In any case Hasan Ali will definitely not be in the "emerging" category for PSL 3, not least for financial reasons (and rightly so).

Hassan Ali was 6+ months into his career and would've been picked up by any team even if he was in a better category. Even though Asghar is yet to play for Pakistan, he was one of the stars of PSL 1.

It made sense for Shadab to be an emerging player last year since he was young, and unknown (unless you watched the U19WC). But I don't think Shadab should be an emerging player in the upcoming PSL. You can promote him to Platinum category (not advocating for this to happen) and people will still buy him.

On the other hand, it would make sense to keep Hassan Khan in the emerging category since no team will pick him up if he's in another category and it's not as if he lighted up the PSL last year.

Do you know how many games he played in that period for Pakistan? Only 13- and he was still very much a work in progress at that point so I don't think it was an issue for him to be classed as an emerging player for PSL 2.

Asghar is a good example of an emerging player. Asghar is still in the early stages of his career and EP classification means he is more likely to play given a certain number of EPs have to play each playing xi. Plus, as an EP he is not competing with the more seasoned TTFs for one of the domestic spaces.

However, PSL 3 is likely to be a different story. The likes of Hasan Ali and Shadab Khan are now established members of a CT winning national team, and so they will (deservedly) be rewarded with very healthy pay increases (which by definition means a change of category).

It may well be that the EP category changes in the future to stipulate that an EP must both be u-23 (as is the case now) and cannot have played above a certain number of internationals, but on the whole the market mechanism will ensure that is the case anyway.

PCB needs to clarify the rules before the tournament. Last year the Islambad United camp got the rules changed just before or during the tournament so they could include Shadab if I'm not mistaken.

And there was me thinking Lahore were investing in the youth...

Zalmi are well rid of him.

TBH, if Hafeez is there at the cost of Umar Akmal, then I have no issues. Lahore needed some stability in middle order as all of their batsmen are hit or miss. Shoiab Malik would be ideal though.

I also see him in Lahore Qalander shirt in jazz rising star by lahor qalander

Ahmed Shehzad has been released by Quetta- various reports.

TBH Shehzad has played pretty well in the PSL, he is rubbish in international cricket but I believe he is one of the highest run scorers in the league.

he is the highest scorer in the psl overall

some of the rumors i have heard:

- shehzad will captain multan
- umar and maqsood will go to multan
- hafeez will go to lahore
- zaman will go to peshawar
- peshawar is in talks with a star foreign all rounder (name not revealed) to replace afridi

Fakhar couldn't stop praising McCullum and the support he gave him, so would be surprised if Fakhar moved (unless it's for financial reasons).

I would support Fakhar moving if it was to become captain (preferably at Multan).

apparently javed afridi is trying to bring fakhar on board as he is also a pathan and lives in peshawar. any way it would definitely be good if there is more and more local representation in psl. the prominent players should be playing for their home teams.

Amir will join Quetta due to him being good friends with Quetta owner (Nadeem Omer). Amir respects him a lot because he was the first one who gave chances to Amir in grade 2 cricket.

quetta do need a star pacer although amir has been a flop in psl. may be he will deliver next yr.

They met for lunch recently and he uploaded it on twitter which caused the rumour mill to go into overdrive. At the time, he claimed he was just having lunch with a friend, but I suspect you are right about him moving to QG.

New signings for PSL

Evin Lewis is a huge signing. He is definetly one of the best T20 players in the world at the moment!

Someone should bump the thread which claimed the international players for PSL 3 would be poor.

PSL still needs 4-5 world class bowlers to raise its standard to the elite level. Plenty of top class batsmen for the entertainment but the bowlers are clearly missing. Cannot stand seeing another season of Lahore Qalandars with a pace bowling attack of Tanvir and Irfan jr. Must try and lure the Starcs, Hazelwoods, Boults etc into the tournament. They will cost significantly less than the batsmen and they will really spice up the competition

McClenaghan should be available.

The other three will be difficult as there is a t20 tri series between Australia, NZ and England at the same time as PSL.

England have a lot of opitions for LO. Not all of them will play in that series so we should still get some decent England players.

Johnson is past his prime now thats why he has agreed. Otherwise he reserves his energy for IPL and BBL. Trying to maximise profits from whatever he has left in the tank now. Not bad but Others are better signings.

Good players. Evin Lewis especially will be a crowd puller. Hopefully the PSL gets bigger and better.

I really hope Evin Lewis turns up the heat for PSL's sake. Mcullum and Gayle have not been anywhere near as good as what is expected from them.

Evin Lewis will face a much different challenge when it comes to PSL in the UAE, and the chokehold of sub continent spinners. This will not be the same as other challenges but I still want this guy to smash a 30 ball 90 somewhere!

Hope to see the following players in the following teams:

Evin Lewis in Islamabad United- need a good opener now Sharjeel is gone and Watson maybe released

Imran Tahir and Chris Lynn in Multan Sultans- two big names for the new team, to balance the squads out and generate some excitement for the fans.

Mitchell Johnson in Lahore Qalandars- experienced fast bowler, which LQ need and will pass on a lot to the young players coming through the PDP E.g. Ghulam Muddassar and Mohammad Irfan jnr

Rashid Khan in Peshawar Zalmi- fits in with PZs promise of Afghan players and also will need a leg spinner as Afridi will leave.

JP Duminy in Karachi Kings- need a solid and reliable middle order batsmen (especially if Malik is released) also helpful 6th bowler and good fielder.

Angelo Mathews potentially for Quetta Gladiators- doubt this will happen, but Quetta have had finishing problems in the past, Angelo Mathews can fit in nicely there, also a useful bowler.

Hope for more top additions in the PSL. Can't wait for PSL3. #AbKhel6Ka

I guess Multan would take them all as they have first 10 picks.

Lewis is a fantastic addition.

Somehow gotta get ABD.

If England won't be playing at that time then Buttler will be perfect.

Rumours are circulating that KK's Sohail Khan will be traded for LQ's Muhammad Rizwan.

IU likely to retain Andre Russell who will return for PSL 3 (doping ban will have finished by then).

IU likely to release Irfan but retain Sami.

Rizwan trade for Sohail Khan was poor from Karachi Kings point of view.
They lost the highest wickettaker of PSL 2 and gained a batsmen who has SR issues in the past, who has issues rotating strike consistently and who has been involved in a lot of run outs.
Lahore Qalandars gained a fast bowler which they required and get rid of Rizwan who wasn't performing that great.

Karachi Kings clinches Muhammad Rizwan in trade for Sohail Khan to Lahore Qalandars

Lahore October 5, 2017 : Another trade was finalised in the HBL Pakistan Super League today with Karachi Kings trading fast-bowler Sohail Khan with Lahore Qalandars for wicket-keeper Mohammad Rizwan.

Khan, who was the leading bowler in season 2, is part of a deal which will give Karachi the first pick in Gold category. In return, Lahore Qalandars will be taking up Karachi's fifth pick in the same category.

Poor decision by Karachi IMO.

Can be a master stroke as well - they are getting 1st gold picks. Not many stars left in draft - this might end up KK landing Ewan Lewis, Tahir, Butler or even ABD.

Will ABD be free in Feb/March?I hope he is..I support KK anyways

These players are more likely to be platinum or diamond, rather than gold.

But I agree getting 1st gold pick has value.

Qalandars have retained 10 players so far and Suhail Tanveer is not one of them
