PSL 2026 to be played behind closed doors amid fuel crisis; Lahore and Karachi to host all games

Now they can’t even move it to UAE. As I said many times har jaggah yeh zaleel hou rahay hain apnay kartooton ki wajah say. Just cancel it so the foreigners don’t need to be uncomfortable. No need to take any risk.
Pakistan is currently a safe country to play cricket in than the United Arab Emirates, which can be attacked by missiles and drones at any time. :kp

Imagine the overseas players, stuck in their rooms playing in crowd-less environments.

PCB rather postpone

A Govinda, Rahul and Rajdeep sitting in Hindustan think it’s because of security reasons.

Obviously nothing to do with the major ongoing war which has led to school closures, global fuel emergency, fuel prices doubled, most flights through which foreign players were gonna come cancelled and obviously players not willing to come close to Iran.

But nah, these Rahuls and Govindas know better.
So these things magically only affect pakistan and not india right next door who are holding IPL openly

And first time I am hearing that playing behind closed doors somehow solves fuel shortage.

Your lack of logic and desperation just increases every day which is why all you can resort to is name calling and ad hominems and strawmans.

It is funny how this thread is flooded with Indians and their super confident stances.

Love how obsessed they are with Pakistan cricket. 😇
Indians are way less obsessed with Pakistani cricket than you are where you put down your own country every single time to support Pakistan, believing those who mock your language and culture will somehow one day embrace you, when they actually laugh at you behind your backs.

Now that's obsessesion!

To all the Govindas, Prem Chands and Sachins acting like resident Pakistan subject matter experts, every country is affected differently by this Middle East war and each country has different amount of resources plus backups to deal with the major energy crisis.

We will deal with this in our own way. We do not have infinite resources and funds. We are also immediate neighbors of Iran which has gone mad sending rockets everywhere. India is not even in the game and far away.

You seem to be totally ignorant, you see this thread and the forum itself too flooded with Indians?

That is what obsession is.

Tbh I don’t mind yall coming en masse to our forums, I like the opposition viewpoints in cricket. But when it comes to geopolitics and Paks internal matters you guys are absolute ignorants who rely on BJP spread misinformation.

To all grand grand children of Lala Singh and Ram Kishan in Pakistan, yours is not a safe country. This is Karma for killing children in Afghanistan. It's not because of fuel but because of fear of Afghans.

Lmao, now we have these pandits in bromance with the extremist Afg government.

You really think when 6-0 was a piece of cake, in a highly technical and historic, unprecedented modern air combat at a scale that has never happened before in human kind’s history, some extremists can scare a country?

Go eat some dosa.

It's in my username about where I am from go take a look. I live just 80kms from Lahore and my ancestors are from there. So I very well know the fake bravado and lies of you Punjabi musalmans. Go fix the nur khan base and 10 others. If you dare kill more citizens of my country there is Brahmos made in Beas waiting for your ilk

This cannot be fuel crisis, but i think there are serious security threats. Should be postponded to a later date.

Crazy suggestion by the Wallee Technologies CEO and Rawalpindiz Franchise Owner Ahsan Tahir i.e. the PSL should be held in the summers in Pakistan after the IPL and the PCB should start the games as late as 10 - 11 pm because in his view there is no Franchise League taking place in June, July, August. He has not heard of Vitality Blast, Hundred, MLC T20, CPL, SL T20 e.t.c.

Might as well shift it to UK if you can. They'll make bank although I'm sure the ECB and the various counties will want their pound of flesh.
Stadium availability will be a huge factor.

I really do think that three countries like Bangladesh, Pakistan , Srilanka should have a common T20 league with 2-3 teams for each country. That increases viewership and also allows different countries to host every season.

Keep the franchise system and treat all the players from the three countries as local. And then the overseas system.

I think PSL shoukd do well in UK. Many Pakistani fans.

Any cricketing event hosted in England is generally a good one. Atmosphere is good. Vibe is good.

Not really. Pakistan fans in UK might come in numbers to watch an India - Pakistan game but that won't necessarily reflect to paying good money to watch a PSL T20 game.

What a stupid excuse , What exactly this idiot Navi thinks, people who would not come to watch the mathes in stadium would be staying home ?? I'm sure they will continue do there other activities and will consume more petrole.

Jind Jaan Asim and his servants like mohsin naqvi will destroy PCB to its core.
We are doomed and nearly becoming a same system as of hockey in pakistan

First of all why they did not have it in previously original window between feb-march. It was total disastrous deicison to have PSL in march and direct clash with IPL. No cricket league can afford to clash with IPL and PCB is really duffer to think that they can afford to compete against IPL.

I cannot believe you lot can be this gullible and ignorant.

After a complete thrashing in the air and PAF achieving air superiority, your govt and forces to save face resorted to firing rockets/missiles that obviously have to land somewhere.

What are you, some toothless terrorist organization that has to resort to firing such stuff from long ranges?

You call it sophistication?? You think Pak cannot fire their own missiles in the same way? Heck even iran is firing these missiles and they obviously land close to targets 😂

They then fed you this as face-saving, chest thumping measure “omg we fired missiles and they landed at X base”.

For sure, that is what rockets are for and every tom dck and harry can fire them.

Extremely convenient to distract the Indian public from an absolute thrashing received in the historical air combat, actually the largest ever air combat happened between two modern air forces that too at BVR ranges!!

THIS is what is being studied worldwide by air forces and exactly why PAF and Pakistan got global applause and appreciation.

Now think again why firing rockets is not rocket science anymore. They will land. Air combat is completely different, and history was made.

Empty stadiums, fuel crisis, and overseas players under security clouds... Is PSL 2026 still the pride of Pakistan if the fans are locked out? Hard to justify the resources being spent when the country is on an austerity drive.

The world is on fire with a huge crisis incoming. Yet people are worried about a cricket tournament.

Seriously, who cares?

I had to fill up the car today. Price per liter 2.50 Euro!

Hundred is in August plus CPL and SL t20 is not big of issue...easily can outbid them....

Have it in UK. There are many fans there and it ll be a good step in promoting psl.
1. You cannot play cricket in UK now as its too cold
2. ECB will not allow another league to use its stadiums during cricket season and compete with the hundreds
3. Ind & Afg fans might have something to say if PSL is played here

'Security Concern' Puts Bangladesh Players' PSL Participation At Risk

The ongoing Israel-Iran-USA conflict has put the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in jeopardy. Prioritising the safety and well-being of players, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday announced that the tournament will now be restricted to just two venues - Karachi and Lahore. In addition, all matches in the initial phase will be played behind closed doors. Following these developments, Bangladesh's State Minister for Youth and Sports, Aminul Haque, has issued a strong directive regarding the participation of Bangladeshi players in the PSL.

According to a report by Cricbuzz, Haque said that the country will prioritise the safety of its players, and a final decision will be taken only after a review meeting with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

"Definitely our cricketers are not going if there is a security concern in the PSL," Haque said. "First, the BCB has to inform us about any security concerns, and afterwards we will take an official decision based on our observations following scrutiny from national agencies."

He further added: "If the BCB ensures that there is no problem for our cricketers to go there, then we have no issue. The BCB must also consider what the players want because we do not want to discourage sports. We want everyone to play wherever they are supposed to. The BCB should consult us regarding security and everything else, and if they can ensure that all is well, then we can proceed."

Haque also commented on the ban on the broadcast of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Bangladesh, stating that the situation will be reviewed soon.

"We have not discussed it yet. After the vacation ends, we will speak with the cricket board and understand the actual situation before making a decision. We want to build a friendly relationship. Sports should not be politicised. We need to understand why the IPL broadcast was stopped, and then we will take a call," he said.

Even if PSL shifts to Sri Lanka, Hasaranga, Pathirana, Shanaka, Nissanka, E Malinga, Theekshana will still choose IPL.
Yet if PSL paid more than IPL they would quickly ditch IPL...... players are only after money in leagues everything else is secondary there is no loyalty in league cricket from overseas players.

Shocking posts from some so-called Pak posters. Toeing the Afg/Ind line. How this is allowed in our forum is shocking. We can play PSL wherever we want. It is our league, our country, our rules. No one cares about the opinions of Kumars and Appus.

One final, and the most important nudge now to move the PSL window to October-November. Even if they have to resort to UAE, weather is better there at that time.
Oct-Nov window is definitely the best for them. There is enough talent in the market now where you won't have to worry about player availability and still be able to lock down good players for the entire season. Going H2H with IPL is not really conducive to growing the league outside Pakistan long-term, and you will continue having issues of IPL franchises poaching players because every year there are multiple injuries before the start of the season.

Reading Pindiz are looking to sign a BBL captain to replace Fraser.

The only guys who are captain and are available is Usman Khwaja and Will Sutherland

Matt Short is captain of Adelaide Strikers but I think he’s with IPL this year

A boot-licker like you has no self-respect, and not a particularly high IQ either. PSL is getting gutted. Half the players have left the tournament, the stadiums will be emptier than your head. Soon PCB will realize it and move the window and then you will come crawling back to tell us what a good decision the PCB made. Because that is your intellectual level - non-existent.
This line alone makes it POTW!

Fizz and other Bangladesh players are already on the way to Pakistan. :kp

Yeah , really can't expect foreign players to travel to Pak given the very open security threat.

As per Indian media:

The 2026 Pakistan Super League faces a significant crisis as overseas players demand "risk premium" salary hikes due to regional instability and venue reductions in Karachi and Lahore. Despite these pressures, the PCB is maintaining a strict "no salary hike" policy and considering punitive measures, including potential two-to-three-year bans and ICC intervention, for players who breach contracts to join the IPL. While the board remains focused on hosting the tournament on schedule, it faces an uphill battle as top international talent increasingly favors the financial security and stability offered by the Indian league.

Did you come up with this all by yourself or did your Hindvata trolls like the bloke who is so smart that he named himself twice help you think of that? You and your ilk are consistently undermining the official Pak position and the State of Pak with your pathetic nonsense. Players will always run after more money, that is life. It is why most of your country men are running from Supapowa to Western Countries as well.

With an IQ that is less than Farhan's batting average against SENAI teams, you are not really fit to comment on other people. When PCB do shift the PSL, come along. Until then zip it.
Redwood is Pakistani
:facepalm

The more i read about this in various articles and vlogs, the more depressed i get. This decision has not been taken due to austerity, the PCB has clearly been rattled by threats by Tehreek e Taliban who have released a press release warning that if the PSL goes ahead, they will target the foreign players. The PCB also might be aware that the Iran-Israel and US conflict is going to get ugly and Pakistan will be pulled in at some point.

TTP Spokesperson Asad Mansoor threatened foreign players not to participate in PSL:

Addressing foreign athletes directly, the spokesperson stated:

> "We wish to convey a clear and urgent message to all participants of the PSL, especially the foreign players: The current internal security and political landscape of the country is volatile and precarious."

> "In a climate where military operations and civil unrest dominate significant portions of the territory, the safety of international athletes cannot be guaranteed."

> "Given these dire circumstances, we strongly advise you to prioritise your personal security and withdraw from the tournament immediately."
> "The environment is currently unfit for any peaceful sporting activity."

The Pakistani Security Personnel should wipe out these folks where ever they are.

Also the quality of security provided to the foreign players should be such that even if there is a war going on, the players are extremely confident that they are safe and secure.
