Which picks from the draft were cringeworthy when they could have picked better names available?
 
Only in a low quality, poverty league will a joke like Shan Masood be retained as a gold category player and captain.

Also I cringed when the presenter said “it seems Quetta have taken an educated risk with Banton as he might not be available during the entirety of the tournament” and then the camera cut to the Quetta team looking at each other in confusion :afridi

Sohail Tanvir is a Diamond and retained by Multan Sultans. Joe Denly to LQ is surprising when there were better options for the Allround spin bowling and finally Sohail Khan is back with again Multan Sultans.
 
I also wouldn't have retained Imran Tahir or Shahid Afridi knowing that Usman Qadir is also there.

Delport is a pretty solid pick though.

Afridi is only there for brand value. His name still draws many followers.
Tahir is still doing exceptionally.
But I don't think Usman Qadir is going to get many games here.

Mohammad Faizan (Over possibly someone like Hammad Azam :rp) in Silver.
 
Lahore plucking randoms off the street from their gimmick camps is an insult to our cricket system and pathway.

Our cricketers break their backs toiling in our domestic structure, and these guys bring people from nowhere and put them on a huge contract. Utterly ridiculous.

Yes, because both got banished by IPL 4 years ago and they need to play in these other leagues to earn money.

They would happily play PSL as well but they fear the backlash from Indian public and probably won’t get a visa either.

So clearly the money you earn in the IPL even 5-7 seasons isn’t enough to keep you afloat for life, forget life...such a lifestyle requires a regular income straight after retirement.

You are no economist to state that a contract of $200-300k is spare change

You are never rich enough. People are always looking to make more money than they already have. Very, very few people, if any, sit idle because they are set for life. They are always looking at opportunities to make more money.

Irfan Pathan and Munaf Patel probably have enough money to live comfortably for the rest of their lives, but they wouldn’t say no to some easy money in leagues like LPL and PSL before they are no longer capable of playing cricket at the professional level.

If he was an economist, he’d be undergoing major philosophical and political reevaluations which shake the core of a zero-sum-fallacy based belief structure.
 
Why do people think Gayle is back in PSL? His time in IPL is running out. He got picked last year by KXIP at the last minute. After benching him for a dozen games, they picked him at number 3.

He did well, but he has seen the writing on the wall. He is too old now, he cannot run, he cannot field, he cannot bowl. His utility has diminished and he is no longer a certain pick year in year out.

Now it is time for him to start praising PSL and earn some free money for the next 2-3 years before retiring.
 
Some very strange picks, but then what do you expect from a league where top to bottom, it's all about connections.

The whole production was terrible.

The presenter, the awkward questions in the shack of a studio. The awkward silences, the cringeworthy humour.

Even If PSL had decent money, there is little you could do to bring many stars because it is one of the busiest calendar for international cricket during PSL window.

Karachi still has 1 supplementary pick can you tell them to select local boy from karachi Shahzaib Ahmed khan as they don't have legspinner and tell them he has played for Pakistan A

Is there no incentive in PSL to be champions? If there was then why investors and team managements made such picks and spent money without any planning?

I guess financial model for franchise should incentivize being a top performing team/management....

Harsh truth. I was super hyped for the first edition, but after seeing pensioners and retirees dominating “young talent” and trash like Shan being promoted for no reason... i was like “why am I even watching this?”

People who watch and go to games should continue to do so... PCB needs to get the money somehow.
 
At least half a dozen promising youngsters missing , what a joke & the presentation was an Absolute cringe 🤦🏽*♂️, I bet every starting 11 will have average age of 32 🤦🏽*♂️, a promising young player who debuted for Pakistan v Kiwis wasn’t even picked by any team 🤦🏽*♂️ PSL should be renamed HBSL(has beens)

There have been more left field selection in this year's draft than previous seasons'. Apart from Andy Flower, there is not a single coach of good repute. The selections of Herchelle Gibbs and Johan Botha have been strange when they have afforded way better names previously.

The only plausible reasons I can think of is:
PCB has told them to pick more English and Australian players to increase the viewership from these 2 countries which could result in better money deals.

COVID era dictating that without any crowd, less financial rewards are to be reaped this year and some mediocre names have been picked as coaches as cost effective measures.

Absence of SL and some BD players is baffling. Inclusion of Afg players is also strange considering they have a series scheduled around that time.
 
But seriously the likes of Imran Khan, Mohammad Irfan is pretty bogus to say the least. And not picking arguably the biggest foreign star in the draft Dwayne Bravo ahead of Rashid Khan who is not even going to play full tournament is sheer stupidity.

No scheduled series other than the one against Ireland in Jan currently. Zim and Ind series was postponed and Zim series was changed to Jan end 2021 and its not final yet. India is hosting Eng from Feb to late March so they wont have Afghanistan’s ODI series scheduled at that time. So far nothing is scheduled during PSL as per my understanding.

It's sad how the quality is dropping at a rate of knots for the PSL
