But infrastructure like lighting the roads is government job and lighting is permanent with maintenance costs.
What is this lighting?
This is Lahore, Punjab's capital and not in midst of Amazon rainforest.
Can anyone tell me if the roads in lahore are not lighted?
This looks like a ponzi scheme.
this is not sethis fault.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee chairman Najam Sethi on Saturday said that the matches of eight edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) will be held in Lahore on Sunday and Monday while consultation on other matches is underway.
He said that the first 2 matches of Pakistan Super League 8 will be played at Gaddafi Stadium as per the schedule, while other matches will be decided later.
this is not sethis fault.
Look, yes crowds in Lahore and Rawalpindi are usually amazing and T20 cricket their is a spectacle. But If the interim Punjab govt is saying paying the hefty amount will affect the relief budget in place for citizens during Ramadan. Then surely the people come first before cricket.
I am afraid the PCB should bend over and pay the amount in this situation.
People are devastated. This is an interim provincial government, not elected and in fact i am pretty sure there is corruption involved here which is not surprising because Mohsin Naqvi is Zardari's guy and Zardari is very famous for finding ways to make money from lucrative projects.
The PCB also suspect this because the Sindh govt security costs are Rs 400 million whereas the Punjab govt is quoting Rs 1 billion in costs.
We have ONE sports product which gives us International recognition.
Just ONE.
Shame on ALL actors in this fiasco.
I heard that all the PSL security camera equipment got stolen from outside Gaddafi Stadium Lahore. Is this news true?

Yes seems some reports on this

Before the Pakistan Super League 8 matches, 8 security cameras and fiber optic cable were stolen in the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Police registered 2 cases, but no arrests were made.
According to the report, the batteries for the generators installed for lighting in the Gaddafi stadium were also stolen.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has assured “full support” to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee Chairman Najam Sethi over the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season eight matches in Punjab.
The development comes after Sethi reached out to the premier, who is also the PCB's Patron-in-Chief, on Sunday to brief the latter about the deadlock with the caretaker Punjab government.
According to sources, in his conversation with PM Shehbaz, Sethi reiterated that the PCB won’t pay the additional cost for security arrangements. He added that if the demand is not withdrawn by the Punjab government, the PCB will be forced to shift matches to Karachi.
PCB and franchise owners met this afternoon via teleconference. It was unanimously agreed to maintain status quo ref their Friday's position i.e. no payments should be made to Punjab government provision of security to visiting foreign players and teams since that is the responsibility of all government and state organs in any country, especially in Pakistan.
Franchises want PCB to start exploring possibilities of taking HBL PSL to UAE and even America where conditions and environmental are manifold better.
All participants called upon PCB Patron PCB, PM Shehbaz Sharif, to protect Pakistan's first homespun international brand from short-sighted bureaucratic meddling.
Drama over.

All this fuss over lighting on the routes to the matches? Where are they playing these games?
This is extremely sad where your Franchise owners have lost faith in holding the tournament in Pakistan.
People don't understand the 4D chess Sethi sahab is playing.
Best problems are the one you create. Only you can solve them easily and take entire credit.
Watch how chairman "solves" this logjam at last minute with his brilliance problem solving skills (i.e. call everyone important he knows).

Pardon me but where are they putting up these lights? Unless Gaddafi Stadium is at somewhere out in the hinterlands this doesn't make senseThe lights, generators and fuel alone are worth Rs 300 million.

PCB should look at playing some matches in the UK.
Manchester, London, Birmingham - full houses guaranteed.
Taking the PSL worldwide!
Is that feasible? The franchises have big expenses ie travelling, lodging, dining, paying mentors, coaches, marketing, promotion and this doesn't include the big franchise fees that they have to pay to the PCB every year.
The league in order to thrive needs a big broadcast deal to compete with the South African T20 league, Big Bash, UAE T20 league and to accommodate two new franchises

In the end the Father of PSL rescued the league and saved the Lahore, Rawalpindi leg of the league.

What are the IPL security costs? Does the BCCI pay them, the IPL franchises, do they divide the costs between them, does the Indian government cover it?
What lights are these? And why should pcb pay for lighting the roads? And isn’t street lighting a permanent thing?
I can understand payments for security personnel but street lights?
Franchisee pays the local association and they pay the government.
Back in 2010 KKR paid the cricket association of Bengal 3.5cr to host 7 matches. It included stadium rent and security.
Mumbai matches are even more costly in terms of security.

There is a world of a difference in being asked to pay Rs 3.5 crores vs 40-50 crores in the name of security
Another possible disruption:
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced that it will hold a "historic" rally in Lahore on Wednesday, which will be attended by party chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan.
Roads jampacked in Lahore
Teams late for practice
This is not good with whats happening in Zaman Park.
Can these teams not afford a private jet?
Practice cancelled for both teams, Lq and Ms
Am hearing reports the remainder of the tournament is at risk because of the political situation in the country. Screw the establishment and this current government.
Absolute chaos in Pakistan right now. Could the establishment not have waited for the PSL to be over with before doing whatever they wanted too?
If you see what Lahore was reduced to by the sheer incompetence of the local admin, PDM and their cronies, you would be ashamed of this country.
PSL is our premier product. It's future is at stake.
