PSL 9 unpicked players discussion

The answer is simple,

The guys averaging 45+ have lead Pakistan to 3-0 home defeats against a non Asian side in home conditions
And what miracles would a player half as good as him do?

We will have to wait and see this winter

If you have any good suggestions for who should lead the Test side, let’s hear them.

The first step is to select the team on merit and not pick a player for captaincy and then try to force him in. That never works well.

A proven failed player like Masood should be nowhere near the team. You pick your best XI and then see who is the best equipped within that XI to lead the team.

You won’t like to hear this but my take is that Babar should have been retained, or convinced to carry on as Test captain.

His Test captaincy was not the problem, the real problem was the pitches that Pakistan were producing.

Pakistan will always do Ok in home Test matches against England/australia/New Zealand/South Africa on spinning tracks.

Missing Tim David and Phil Salt.
Tim David was an obvious pick but he missed out due to his national team commitments. Phil salt however was a big miss. He was in some form recently and could have been handy on these flat roads. Lahore missed the trick here.

That’s exactly what the PCB did want. It was Babar who sulked away from the Test captaincy job because they didn’t want him as the white ball captain.

Are the PCB at fault because Babar wanted to hold them hostage with white ball captaincy too? At which he was a monumental failure just like the results in Test captaincy?

You also mentioned that Pakistan would beat SENA teams at home on spin wickets…so how then do you expect Babar to maintain a home average of 50+ on spin tracks against Test quality spinners?

Babar did the right thing by resigning. He could see through the act. PCB wanted him gone from Tests as well but they wanted to protect Masood from the whitewash in Australia.

He was gonna be removed from Tests after the Australian tour and he did the right thing by resigning himself beforehand.

It is Ok if Babar doesn’t maintain a 50+ average at home, winning matches is more important.

So Babar knew that 4 years on the job, he wasn’t good enough to lead his side in the toughest away assignment in Test cricket? So Masood takes the fall for 3-0, and Babar comes back for an easier cycle? How does that work? Even Najam Sethi knew that the MOU thing was a lost cause but he still persisted with it out of principal in court. If Babar truly was the right leader of the team, why desert your side in this way? There are credible sources close to Babar (and who hate Zaka Ashraf) reported at the time that Babar didn’t even want to play the Australia series. That’s how much of a sulk he through at the decision of him being removed as white ball captain.

As for your comment on the compromise on 50+ average, this wasn’t the case when Babar was given a complete free hand under Ramiz Raja. There is plenty of evidence to suggest the wickets at home were doctored in accordance to a set plan by the PCB chairman in order to ensure that its biggest playing assets/brand endorsers can score runs. Simon Doull who had seen enough of the pathetic brand of cricket that was being played under Babar’s leadership went straight in and questioned upon whose directives are such flat tracks being prepared?

If Pakistan start preparing traditional sub continent Test match tracks, Pakistan are more than likely to lose their home Tests against SENA sides by an innings. As their premier batsman is a sitting duck against any well established Test class spinner.

Yaar Khudda ke liye explain to me how the unpicked players are not better than Shan Masood????
