PSL hasn’t managed to develop Pakistan’s batting

We all know that PSL has the best bowling among all the other leagues, but tbh T20 cricket is pretty much batsmen oriented. Its truly a mystery even after facing quality bowling every year in PSL, our batsmen are stuck in the 90s era of playing & have a mental block against international bowlers outside the country. Are the quality of pitches the only issue which is stopping the development of our batsmen? Why has PSL not been able to provide us a crop of international cricket ready batsmen?

Phil Salt Rile Rossouw Ben Dunk Tim David, David Malan, Alex Hales

if you go through PSL side, 3 out of 4 of the overseas in playing XI are batsman henceforth

There are joke boundaries in PSL.. 65 meters to hit sixes, these guys think they’re modern greats then they get to Australia and can’t clear the rope

It's the same Pakistani names scoring runs season after season.

Anyone who scores a few runs we go crazy and get them into the T20I side when they are bang-on average batters.

The PSL has developed foreign batsman more than local batters.

But to be fair, not many teams have drafted the correct local batters in the PSL draft.

Slow flat pitches , short boundaries - not a good place to nurture good batsmen !

Pakistani batters do pretty well in Lahore , Karachi , Dubai but struggle in SENA

In psl teams most number 3-5 are foreign players. Need Pakistani guys in Those positions to develop them. Also terrible pitches and too short boundaries

PSL is a very selfish league. Having the likes of Imam opening, Shadab batting at 3 and players who will never play for Pakistan featuring makes no sense.

PSL is not the solution... first class cricket and playing in domestic cricket makes you a batsmen/bowler... play few games in PSL slog the ball got quick 30s 40s and we will start comparing those hacks with ATG players..

REality is promoting domestic cricket, providing facilities/pitches to player will produce good players not psl, ipl, bbl or any other league

Wasim was saying how franchises in IPL take ownership like KKR would and send a team to Bloemfontein, SA where for a month they would be learning from a top grade coach and playing in unknown conditions to become better players.

PSL is not going to necessarily create a Warner or Buttler out of thin air in a few weeks of televised pajama cricket every year. It may here and there. But if you want to produce truly quality t20 batsmen, then franchises need to take responsibility.

Qalandars were great in this regard for fast bowling. We got Haris Rauf. Great. But need to do the same for batsmen. We’ve had them before. Zaheer Abbas, Inzi, MoYo, Miandad, etc. No reason why we can’t produce more.

We have to let go of this stupid mindset that “Pakistan is a bowling team historically, that is the only way we win”

That’s hot garbage in a world where the game is now evolving to be pro-batting. Need to invest in our batting resources as much as possible.

The glaring weakness we have to basic bowling be it short balls, or hell, even spin for our best batsman (as an ASIAN team) is appalling and shows that batsmen can get to the highest level without being the least bit tested as batsmen.

^ran out of time to edit, but I quoted our previous great bats as a testament that we CAN produce world class batters. Not that they were necessarily found in unorthodox ways

I think its a combination of both- we cant have strictly domestic cricket players playing international T20 cricket - we already have too many run technically sound accumulators in the team, now we need some good finishing all rounders too. Plus an attacking batsman upfront who can take full advantage of the power play - unfortunately Fakhar Zaman isn’t cutting it these days. Unfortunately PSL has not been able to produce good middle/lower order batsmen because as somebody pointed out they are all filled by foreign players. Cause & effect thing really.

For batting to improve through PSL, we need: (a) true pitches which have consistent good bounce; (b) long boundaries; (c) better international talent; (d) serious and high quality pre season training sessions by all franchises that gives budding talent an opportunity to learn and improve; and (e) a willingness to embrace the latest scientific thinking on power hitting and fitness.

It is laughable to think that Pajama league systems will produce technically sound and proper batsmen.

Whatever happened to Imad Wasim? I believe his batting and bowling are better than some of these players playing for us at the moment

No he wasn't, another half bowler & half batsman like Nawaz who may win you some games, but can never be a long term option .
