Which league will pull more crows in Dubai and Sharjah.

PSL or MCL?

Opinion of UAE residents on this forum will be valuable.
 
PSL should get more attendees, but you can never know.

At first, mcl will get a lot of fans to flock in because of the star studded names that will be on display, but once they see the standard and quality of matches - the numbers will eventually start to decline.

The cricket all stars matches were a perfect example of the low quality affair between the teams, whilst seeing the legends hobble around and struggling to even field was embarrassing.

Agree to some extent. But MCL marketing is far ahead
 
Fans would go after quality cricket which only youngsters can offer, not oldies.
 
Think people are underestimating the MCL a bit, over half the players are still playing cricket at professional level.

MCL is going to be a lengthier version of All stars T20 matches, which was very boring!

I think it exposed them... All stars in USA was terrible... It's like Dilwala, how can you watch 50 years old guys playing cricket is slow motion??

Everything was slow, they cannot run, they cannot catch, bowling was way too slow.... These legends were embarrassing themselves... I don't think people will watch that kind of stuff for too long....That is anything but entertainment [emoji849][emoji849][emoji849]

MCL will be much better than All stars, All stars had ambrose, hooper etc who were too old to play, MCL has recently retired players and comparing with PSL, it will be much more popular Globally and most importantly Indian Television. Not to forget it is a Pakistan-India collaboration and will get very good marketing treatment.

lol, enjoy watching it then mate. I'll watch it too, but PSL is going to be much more interesting, entertaining, and "most importantly", give our youngsters a chance to showcase their skills globally, and push Pakistani cricket to the next level!
 
Interestingly I think MCL will do a better job of providing entertainment because it has a better marketing team.

The audience of this league is the Indian ex-pat community and they are already targeting it by getting people like MSD.

TBH, MCL has better marketing team and greater star power for the Indian community.

Waiting to see how it goes but I'd say that MCL's marketing team is head and shoulder above PSL's marketing team.
 
MCL is a league for the people past their best.

So PSL should attract more crowds.
 
There is nothing at stake at the MCL - while PSL is the beginning of rivalries bragging rights, regional pride. No comparison.

Agree. I only watched the first game. Shoaib was the highlight of that tournament.
 
Each offers something different but there is a novelty factor in MCL.

Can that pull in the numbers year in, year out?
 
Bollywood and Indian legend involvements make MCL more of a crowd puller. I personally will follow my chosen team Gemini Arabians' games

PSL needs to do a lot more than TV ads. Especially in the UAE. MCL looks more attractive overall atm to me despite being a Pakistani.

Pakistani crowd will prefer PSL any day, and Afghans and Bangladeshis might also show up. Not sure if it'll be more than MCL given the Indian population in the UAE

Yeah, i believe inaugural season would actually be a success.

I hope they make it bi-annual. This will make it more anticipating
 
I had great expectations from MCL till the day auction results were announced.. since Wasim and Shoaib pulled out at last minute there is hardly anything to look forward to. Plus the mismatch between some old players and some current players. And then the team names are based on zodiac signs.. imean come on I cant even relate to any of the teams now. They all sound the same.

PSL on the other hand is something to look forward to.. draft teams look good as well. However to pull people to stadium you need heavy marketing campaign which I don't know if PCB will be able to afford considering how expensive it is here compared to back home.

And you need to involve some local sponsors.. knowing PCB's lack of experience of organizing such a high profile tournament involving players from all over the world, the local sponsors would be reluctant to put in money atleast for the first season. Without local sponsors giving out their eligibility of sponsored tickets to their customers, it would be difficult to fill the stadiums. I don't expect 20-25k of paying crowd for every match.
 
i think MCL will be history very soon as the tournament is already in hot waters
 
They might as well play golf in MCL. All PSL needs is 35 people per game to beat MCL figures.
 
According to Salman Iqbal, owner of Karachi Kings, the opening match has been sold out and so have the majority if tickets for the Friday double header.
 
Surely PSL. MCL crowds, players and commentators have to go to bed at 4 pm.
 
So far based on the site thats selling the tickets half the ground seems sold out whereas limited availablity in the other half
 
Definitely PSL.
Eventhough MCL has far more stars than PSL but who wants to watch old guys playing t20 when you have Gayle in PSL.

I think it's reasonable to expect good crowds on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The rest if the days can be tricky.

MCL is a nothing league made of some of the "former" best cricketers in the world. If it was like the All-stars which was fun at best then i could agree. But oldies playing a competitive tournament? Hell no!

I am quite sure no one from Bangladesh is watching the MCL. Okay maybe some 100-200 people. Not too many from India are keen either. So all in all, the tournament will encounter heavy losses and will definitely be diluted and no one will even bother about it.

PSL will have literally 20 times the crowd if not more. Zimbabwe domestic T20 would have more crowds too tbh

True, expected more numbers with big names like Lara, Gilchrist, Sehwag, Sanga, Smith etc on display.

I guess, no one wants to watch old guys play anymore. LOL
 
Mcl works as one off exhibition match.... who wants to see retire has beens regularly!

Endeavours like MCL are nothing more than money laundering fronts! No one in their right minds can think of making money of T20 league of old retired players. No matter how low the crowds, MCL will continue.
