This game of LQ vs QG is why PSL is so important to the future of Pakistan Cricket. Players who get used to chasing these totals will add a new dimension to Pakistan National Team.

This is fantastic to watch, more of chasing please...

These chasing games like today is where PSL will help Pakistan

Chasing totals in a T20 game will help Pakistan in chasing totals in ODI's?

Its not about format its about approach.

When Kohli scored 133* from some 80 odd balls against lanka in Aus he said that he divided the target that this much runs i will score in first 20 overs and other i will score in other 20 overs.Since the target was quite high he had to play it like a T20 and where IPL helped him because he was used to chase these type of totals

I agree.Rubbing shoulders with the likes of Dwayne Bravo,Shane Watson and Chris Gayle may no doubt help our players learn new hitting techniques

Kohli is not that great in IPL and usually bottles it, he would had been a good chaser in InTL irrespective of IPL.BTW the example that you have given anyone with basic math could do that.

The benefit of T20 Leagues imo is just handling the pressure and crowd in tough situation not calculation.

Definitely PSL 'll help PAK players to approach chase better. I give a classic example - what happened in 1st half of KK chase yesterday is typical Pakistan chase - the high target got into the player. Nauman, Simmons, Imad came with a plan to hit everything, resulting lots of dots followed by a cluster of wickets - that was end of it.

What happened in 2nd half is an eye opener, albeit by 2 Englishmen - I am sure PAK players 'll learn few things from that chase. LO games gives lot more time while chasing than it looks. An asking of 7/over on absolute belter for 25 overs sounds daunting - but it's about making up 25 balls, 175 of 150; 1 hit every alternate over & 4/5 singles, these days most team can win from there, PAK 'll lose 90% matches by less than 35 runs.

I am sure, by the end of PSL, PAK's chasing 'll improve.

Won't give any thing.

Except a good payday to our domestic players, which I am quite ok with; other than that basically ^^^ this. You don't improve a country's cricket by a tamasha league, you improve it in the premier domestic competitions within the country where the pool of Pakistanis playing are much larger and the impact on technique, temprament and other aspects of the game are ingrained in the long run.

Good domestic competitions provide a long term solution rather than some stop gag which these tamasha leagues are quite prominent on finding.

The benefits will be
- Better earning for domestic cricketers
- Better facilities for local cricketers. Each franchise based in cities will organise regular camps and talent hunts etc which is huge boost for aspiring cricketers
- Experience of sharing dressing room with international pros will help the younger players. They will learn how to train and prepare better before matches
- Will lead to development of some specialist T20 stars who can then take PSL brand to various countries and leagues

All the above are obviously dependent on PCB not incurring any losses from PSL.

All in all Pakistan cricket will only gain from it.

PSL will benefit Pakistan from a cricketing aspect for sure. The relations between Pakistani cricket players and Foreign players will improve and grow; this is crucial for the 2nd season.

it was wordings not mine :)

I would hope that we show some improvement in limited overs cricket. I truly expect us to go downhill in Tests once Misbah and YK retire though and I think we'll struggle to get back from it.

As I predicted 3 years ago that with time chasing will become a second nature. The issue is PCB trying to pick Test teams based on PSL.

PSL should be used as a showcase of Talent and it gives good chances to youngsters like Haris Rauf.

  1. Invest in Domestic Setup
  2. Let the Franchises develop their Talent and their local Pool
  3. Make Domestic Cricket insanely competitive
  4. Play on the right venues considering the Weather
  5. Improve picthes
  6. Domestic will feed PSL and Talent will be showcased
  7. Pick the right players for the right format

It took the Indians 10 plus years to do all this but the IPL played the catalyst role in terms of professionalizing Indian Cricket from the grass roots. It will perhaps take the PSL similar amount of time to have the same effect on Pakistan Cricket.
