KARACHI (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member National Assembly (MNA) and Fixit founder Alamgir Khan, who was taken into custody by the police following a clash between the members of his campaign and die-hard workers of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP), has been released after brief arrest on Sunday.

The arrest was made when reached Teen Talwar area of the metropolis to address a press conference after the die-hard workers of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) clashed with the members of the Fixtit movement.

The PPP workers had been seen carrying batons, while several workers of both parties were injured. Dozens of wounded men were shifted to hospital for medical assistance.

Police intervened in the fight and brought the situation under control after multiple arrests. Police also baton charged the protesters.

On the other hand, Alamgir Khan said that the Sindh government was behind today’s incident.

He further demanded the authorities to release other members of the FixIt.

The MNA went on to say that the workers of the PPP tortured activists of his campaign over the protest and they vandalized vehicles and used weapons.

Fixit had staged a sit-in outside office of the Provincial Minister of Sindh for Local Government.

Meanwhile, Sindh Minister for Local Bodies Saeed Ghani lashed out at FixIt campaigners, saying that "there are other ways to record protest". "They drew pictures on manhole covers and staged cheap protests," the minister complained.

This is the attitude towards a sitting MNA elected by the people of Karachi. Then we have Zardari supporters like Major crying crocodile tears about the supposed fascism going on against corrupt looters and plunderers.

If it was a peaceful protest he should be released immediately, but cult-members are known for their thuggish behavior and at times you have to give them a taste of their own medicine.

Peaceful protest regarding lack of water outside local government minister's office is turned ugly when PPP workers showed up with weapons. As per media report:

The PPP workers had been seen carrying batons

Self proclaimed Messiah and proponent of competent PM, NS, has decided to create facts out of thin air, again.

Mamoon 9,000, where is the evidence of only 9,000 people at the arena in D.C area? I am sure by now you might have gathered something.

Yes, in that alternate reality where only 9000 turned up to watch IK in Washington, Gullu Butt and Uzair Baloch are members of PTI.

Karachi receives less than half of its water demand, says minister

KARACHI: The water shortage crisis in the city, which is already receiving less than half of its required water supply, is deepening because of suspension of supply from main pumping stations twice in recent days, while on the other hand, authorities have claimed that the supply would be normalised, a top official said on Wednesday.

He also expressed the hope that the new pumping station installed at the Dhabeji pumping station would start operation within the next few days which would further reduce the pressure.

However, he added that the recent damage to key pipelines in the city due to fast eroding infrastructure remained a source of concern which had caused wastage of hundreds of gallons of water recently.

“Unfortunately 72-inch pipeline at the central Dhabeji pumping station burst due to power breakdown twice in a week,” said Sindh Local Bodies Minister Saeed Ghani.

“That caused suspension in water supply for a few days. It took time to get it normalised, but then within the city some key pipelines were damaged which affected the supply to a couple of districts. The supply has turned normal and situation would improve in a day or two,” he added.

Due to recent suspension of supply from Dhabeji, old city areas of Lyari and Keamari, Korangi, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Gulistan-i-Jauhar, Malir, Landhi, Model Colony, Manzoor Colony, Mehmoodabad, Ahsanabad, Gulshan-i-Maymar and Orangi Town were among the areas which remained badly affected.

The minister said the city was facing acute water shortages as it was receiving close to 500MGD against demand of 1,100MGD.

The Sindh government had allocated enough funds for development of water resources and supply as well as improved the sewerage system, which would improve the situation within the next two years, he claimed.

“In this budget, allocation for the Greater Karachi Sewerage Plan is Rs5bn,” he said. “There is a mega project called S-III with a budget of Rs36.11bn and it is under implementation since last over a decade. Similarly, the Sindh government has allocated Rs800m for the ongoing Greater Karachi Water Supply project, also known as K-IV. We are also working on multiple proposals to finalise them for recycling of water and contain its wastage.”

He is a MNA, Pathan and belong to Mehsud Tribe so where are all PTM and PPP guys? Next time we are told about MNA rights and Human rights from the hypocrite PPP and PTM they better shut up or they will get a a fitting reply. At least this MNA didn't attack a check post and didn't steal trillions from tax payers money.

people of karachi hate PPP and PPP hates the people of karachi.

proof is in the election results and the current situation of karachi, despite PPP running karachi since 2008.
10+ years of misgovernance has lead to current issues.

Since we are separating the seraiki belt from punjab and into a new province, we may as well sperate karachi from sindh, and into a new province of own.

karachi is the financial capital of pakistan, and needs to be given it's just dues.

Karachi is such a dirty city definitely the most dirty city in Pakistan and may be even in South Asia. :runaway:

Obviously it will be dirty when the government decides that proper garbage and sewerage management systems aren't required.

Many parts of the city are having major troubles after 2 days of rain

I saw its pictures before and after rain; just plain disgusting even before rain and after rain its absolutely filth; how people live with so much garbage :facepalm: if local government is not fulfilling its responsibilities then why dont the people clean it up themselves instead of just continue to live this way? :facepalm: worst city and people are no different;

That's embarassing. Basically confirming that she is the silver spoon girl without a care for the people in the province, as long as PPP remain the dominant player.

They either need to lose Sindh, or Karachi and Hyderabad need their own Province

Silver spoon girl really quoted Ariana Grande in her twitter post lmaoo :)))
