How do people feel about the public address system at the world cup? I find those 2 people who keep spurting out nonsense and random noise to be really annoying and irritating. And I am watching on TV; feel sorry for the people in the stadium.
Did people ask for this nonsensical noise when they bought tickets for cricket?
ICC pls sort out this mess and let us watch cricket in peace.

Saj - if you have ICCs ears can you let them know how we feel about this. Thanks

I think its pretty good. You see such announcers in other leagues but not in cricket. I believe you need announcers to wake up the stadium and get them to make noise.

The crowd has been great and cheering, we even saw a wave in the cricket stadium. The announcer is doing a great job. In sporting events you see such things happening.

I think our crowd is also motivating our players alot

This what you get when BCCICC let Bollywood take over cricket.

I think it's alright.

As long as they don't say stupid things, I'm good.

Find it extremely annoying, what is cricket becoming ? I like T20s but hate this kind of nonsense, let us breathe and think about the game between overs instead of this useless assault on the senses.

It is supremely annoying and horrfying because they do it every ball. Once an over is fine, to rev up the crowd.

You guys are acting like its never been done before lol.

I remember going to games in Sharjah and Dubai 6-7 years ago and they still had the announcements throughout the game.

Its just too much too often and also get a voice thats easier on the ears. The screeching of the lady is just ridiculous.

Pretty much this. Its especially annoying when the game is tight and a big wicket falls, the crowd is already worried and silent and these morons on the mic scream nonsense non stop.

Irritating, just like most of the commentary in this tournament.

I get that they want to create an atmosphere at the grounds, but the shrieking isn't needed - it seems to be particularly bad at the Dubai Stadium.

I find the "announcements" very annoying also. There's need for these.

Keep cricket simple.

Anyone notice how it was a lot more quiet for today's game ? Maybe Saj sent a link to this thread to the ICC organizers.

I asked one of the commentators at the T20 World Cup about it and even he said that it was annoying.

However he did also say that it wasn't as annoying as some of the commentators :)

Was bit silly to see someone shouting today with hardly anyone in the ground!

haha, they need to spill the beans, who is the most annoying in the comm box :))

This has to be the worst that i have ever seen/heard at any tournament ever.

They just mindlessly shout stuff like "when i say hey" say "ho", when i say "ho" say "hey".... :110:

Like why? This type of stuff is not prevalent in AUS, Eng, NZ, PAK, SRI and they seem to be doing fine.

I think all these theatrics are silly and exteremly annoying. This might work in american wrestling but this is cricket.
Did ICC ask anyone if they wanted this nonsense? Imposed on audience for no reason than to spice things up but its not done that; its annoying the stadium and TV audience.

This sort of thing isn't required in lively crowds, when we go to matches here in England. We don't need anyone to pump us, the stadiums are full to the brim and there's plenty of noise and banter in the stands. I guess they're just trying to make up for the lack of crowd. I would find it super annoying and cringey

seems like a continuation of the bollywood IPL, BCCI probably paid the MC to hang around, seems very cringe in my opinion tho. But like poster above mentioned this is only done to mask the poor crowds, in the big games the mc gets drowned out by the real crowd noise

Why dont the spectators in the stadium rebel or protest against this nonsense? Oh, I forgot, you cant show descent over there.
The problem is that the authorities think of these silly things without asking the paying public. I remember going to see Eng v Pak T20s in UAE a few years ago. The security was so OTT that they were humiliating the spectators. The only way you could go in was with your shirt and trousers; everything else had to go in the bin, even water. I promised to never go there again to watch cricket; I'll stick to Lords and Headingley.

I think the people on the mic have had too much of the wrong type of food.

Hyperactive!

I think they should go further and have no fans, back to COVID times. We cricket fans love the overall quietness in a stadium.

Extremely annoying. I cringe whenever I hear some of the ridiculous stuff they are saying.

The most irritating thing ever this system!

Horrible, horrible, horrible.

So annoying and amateur.

Clap clap, clap clap, clap clap !

They both seem to be extra hyped up today in front of a stadium that is mostly empty.

That middle period during NZ's innings vs England in the semis when they were 50ish -2 at 10 overs was cricket at it's best. The crowd and MC was also pretty quiet. And everyone was curious how the game would tilt from there.

And that's one fiftee upp for new zeeelaand!!!
