Authorities in Punjab have intensified cyber surveillance after identifying a massive network of over 58,000 social media pages promoting anti-state narratives and extremist propaganda, police sources confirmed on Monday.

According to officials, joint teams from Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) have ramped up cyber patrolling efforts to track and dismantle digital campaigns driven by terrorist elements. A total of 58,788 objectionable pages have so far been flagged and reported to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) for necessary action.

Out of these, 11,132 pages spreading hate speech and anti-state propaganda have been successfully blocked. Alarmingly, at least 54 social media pages were found to be hosting highly dangerous and inciting content, police sources added.

Authorities believe that a significant portion of the digital propaganda – around 80% – originates from foreign-based accounts. These accounts reportedly use sophisticated social media algorithms to specifically target Pakistan’s younger generation, aiming to influence public opinion and create unrest.

Police sources also revealed that monitoring of individual social media accounts has been expanded, and all suspicious activities are being recorded. Legal proceedings are expected to follow after identifying the individuals or groups behind these operations.

"Cyber patrolling has been increased to counter the digital warfare being waged against the state," a senior police official said. "Our goal is to identify the miscreants behind these malicious campaigns and bring them to justice."

Why is "Cyber patrolling and surveillance in Punjab" identifying anti-state social Media pages? and what is an 'anti-state' social media page???

Brother it's just a red herring to attack a particular party (with the biggest following among populace) with just negligible cases involving pages run by anti Pakistan states in the neighborhood.

To be perfectly honest, the anti national activity has been on the rise in Pakistan which must be a growing concern for the ruling regime.

The mad dogs have gone totally rabid. Do they think that the resentment against unelected criminals led by Munir, SS,NS and The crooked witch will reduce if people can't talk about it. And what is anti state? Is calling these criminals, criminals anti state? Is asking for the boots to return to the barracks as per their oath, anti state?

PTI passed laws lol, now they are getting the short end of the stick.. deserve it

Punjab gov should focus on the betterment of the general public instead of trying to save their own corrupt practices....They are paying heavy money to kill the freedom of speech... Simple

Anti-state pages work a lot like some of the stuff the RSS does in India against muslim,

They spread hate, push violent ideas, and try to stir up trouble in the country.

They post things that divide people, targeting the government , and mess with the peace in the country just to create chaos and weaken trust in the government.

They all try to make a rebellious environment to push a civil war in the country so the country collapses

Sort of stuff @Bewal Express @psyoptica @HalBass9 and others do on this forum

The government’s doing a good job, but they should also take it a step further by identifying the individuals behind those foreign-based accounts. Their NICOPs should be cancelled, and they should be permanently blacklisted from entering Pakistan.

LOL, you must be in the rarest of rare species if you need a full blown truth patrol just to protect your feelings.

Try not to gaslight the Muslims of India, they’re not just marginalized, they’re practically on the endangered list.

Standing up for democracy isn’t hate, my friend, it’s just what happens when people still have a spine. 😂

Tell your handlers to level up their scriptwriting, this one’s been rejected by reality AND Netflix.

You need to look at the economy under pmln they are stabilising the economy , inflation is down , and electricity prices have been bought down , and there is hope with foreign investment in agriculture and mining sectors.

Obviously the usual ethnos are moaning about canals and mining to stop this investment.

The witch has done more than the incompetent buzdar did who was basically an illiterate sardar .

Yeah, for a couple of years, until reality showed up uninvited.

What you’ve described isn’t some grand master plan, it’s more like a game of political Jenga, wobbling just long enough to cling to power. And honestly, y’all are falling for the shiny distractions like cats with laser pointers.

So an economy that was growing at 6%, exports rising, stable currency and rising remottancex has been fixed with negative growth, an inflation rate of 40% and borrowings of 29bn a day. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

You need to understand statistics before you post rubbish. Inflation is so high that most people can barely survive because most common items are out of reach. Electricity and gas have sky rocketed but oil and gas is cheap on the international market. So why are they so high and who is making a killing.

This guy actually admitted he would support the Indian hardline hindutvas over PTI. That is what you are dealing with, so no wonder the nation has always built a reputation for selling it's people down the river for the sake of a few selected bank accounts getting a nice bonus in foreign accounts.

Pakistan's economy stages a comeback in 2024
Reports say Pakistan’s economic outlook is witnessing positive changes

LAHORE (Dunya News) - The year 2024 glides by after ups and downs in several spheres of life across the world.

Pakistan has a good news to share on economic front, where it witnessed turnaround in many ways after the International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved the much-awaited $7 billion Extended Fund Facility (EFF) in September.

Several reports say Pakistan’s economic outlook is witnessing positive changes, driven by continuous efforts to achieve developmental goals and restore stability.

The IMF projects a GDP growth rate of 3.2 percent for FY2025, with the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank forecasting growth at 2.8 percent and 3 percent, respectively.

Major contributors to this turnaround included eased import restrictions, reduced inflation and improved business conditions.

The Pakistan Stock Exchange saw historic gains, with the KSE-100 index surging from 58,000 to 110,000 points.

Foreign Exchange reserves also grew from $7 billion to $12 billion, covering 2.5 months of imports.

INFLATION SCORECARD

Inflation significantly dropped from 29.2 per cent in 2023 to 4.9 per cent in 2024, and interest rates decreased from 22 per cent to 13 per cent.

On the other hand, remittances rose by 34 per cent, while exports increased by 12.57 per cent.

With continued reforms and political stability, it is believed that Pakistan’s economy is poised for sustained growth.

IMF GREENLIGHTS $7BN LOAN FOR PAKISTAN

In September, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved the much-awaited $7 billion Extended Fund Facility (EFF) for Pakistan.

The decision was made during an Executive Board meeting chaired by IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva in Washington, with Pakistan’s agenda at the forefront.

The EFF was agreed upon between Pakistan and the IMF on July 12 this year.

With the approval of the loan, Pakistan’s economic and foreign exchange reserves improved.

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) received the first installment of loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Sept 29. Pakistan received $1.026 billion as part of the $7 billion loan agreement.

PSX SUMMITS HISTORIC 100,000 PEAK

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) attained the historic high of 100,346 points on Nov 28 on the heels of unprecedented streak of surge in the last one month or so.

The KSE-100 index surged by 1,077 points to reach a new milestone. It, however, closed at 100,082 on the fourth working day of the week.

A day earlier (Nov 27), the PSX witnessed a rally and the KSE-100 index crossed the 99,000 mark. At one point, the index had risen by 1,642 points to reach 99,820 points. However, at the close of trading, the index was reduced to 99,269 points.

The KSE-100 index, which is a key benchmark in PSX, achieved one milestone after another in November 2024 amid recurring reports of economic stability mainly due to the recent loan disbursement by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The reassuring agreement with the international lender and Pakistan economic czar Muhammad Aurangzeb’s subsequent announcement ruling out a mini-budget boosted investor confidence.

The stock surge also holds symbolic significance as it is considered an indicator of country’s economic trajectory.

PIA BIDDING BID

In October the final bidding process for the privatisation of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) was held, with just one participant for a stake in the national carrier.

Saad Nazir, chairman of real-estate development company Blue World City, confirmed to Reuters that his group placed a bid at a ceremony at a hotel in Islamabad.

The real estate group placed a bid of Rs10 billion - way below the Privatisation Commission’s expectation of Rs85.03bn. The bid put the privatisation of the national carrier in jeopardy.

The lone bidder refused to increase the bid, stating that the government might continue to run the entity on its own if it did not want to sell it.

FINMIN AURANGZEB’S OPTIMISM

Federal Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb said this past week the country’s economy had been put on right track and was moving forward.

Speaking to a group of farmers and others, he admitted that the country had been facing many issues, and “we do not have a magic wand to set everything right instantly.”

“Policy rate has been reduced substantially which is an indication that the country is moving in the right direction. The country must move towards economic stability and develop an export-oriented economy,” the minister emphasised.

Minister Aurangzeb said “we will not sit idle in Islamabad; we will go to the people to seek budgetary proposals. It is a wrong trend that stakeholders throng Islamabad during the budget days.”

He advised traders to concentrate on strengthening economy and help the government meet its objectives.

He boasted inflation had reduced to five percent, and coffers had significant foreign reserves.

He said the government was endeavouring to bring down interest rate to single digit.

With reduction in the interest rate, the economy would improve. “We will stabilise economy in 2025 by plunging interest rate further to single digit,” he promised.

He also noted that the agriculture sector showed positive developments in 2024. Rice exports enhanced and remittances [from overseas Pakistanis] last year were $30.2 billion.

He expressed optimism that remittances would exceed $35 billion this year.

The agriculture and poultry sectors needed to be further developed, the minister added.

CHARTER OF ECONOMY

The minister stressed that concerted efforts should be made for economic stability. There might be political differences, but everyone should join hands for the sake of the country, he said while calling for a “charter of economy”.

The minister said taxation, energy and government institutions were being reformed.

A TAXING ISSUE

“Educational institutions and hospitals can run on charity, but the country does not. A country runs on taxes,” he said.

Minister Aurangzeb claimed the tax authority was being reformed. The government was moving towards end-to-end digitisation, with data available, he added.

“My data is with the FBR, NADRA and the tax authority. Any discrepancies in data represent a leakage, which burden the salaried class and the manufacturing industry.”

He stated that the government did not want to put any additional burden on the salaried class. However, it is necessary to bring everyone into the tax net, and the government is working to close the leakage in the taxation system. Those who are not paying taxes will be required to pay them.

He pointed out that Pakistan's tax-to-GDP ratio was 9pc to 10pc, while countries in the region are at 18pc. “The goal is to bring the country’s tax-to-GDP ratio to 13.5pc,” he said.

He said the energy sector was being reformed. Tariffs would be reduced and performance of distribution companies improved, he pledged

Choti choti khushiyan, after two whole decades, an airline finally makes a profit. Wild, I mean, it didn’t manage that in 20 years under PMLN, but sure, tell me more about how Lahore is basically the Paris of Asia because of a new bazar open up. Just ignore the part where the Eiffel Tower is actually a WiFi tower with mood swings.

Imran Khan is crushing the poor’: anger rises as inflation grips Pakistan

On Friday night, 27-year-old Asadullah, who sold old shoes on a cart, set himself on fire in the Pakistani city of Karachi.

Ghani, a relative, blamed the state of an economy where rampant inflation is hitting those least able to cope. In comments to local media, he said Asadullah used to get calls from his wife and parents asking him for money, but he could not afford to pay the rent and meet his own expenses and sending money back home was no longer possible.

We can’t run our homes, that’s why Asadullah committed suicide,” Ghani said. “I know five more people who are fed up with inflation and want to end their lives because of skyrocketing prices. The government should have mercy and decrease the inflation.”

An economic meltdown is putting the Pakistani prime minister, Imran Khan, under immense pressure and bringing the threat of unrest as record inflation – the fourth highest in the world – pushes the price of sugar higher than petrol.

Before coming to power, Khan had vowed to root out corruption and lift people out of poverty as he promised a new and prosperous Pakistan with the creation of 10m jobs. Instead, after a visit to Saudi Arabia last month, he announced $3bn in financial support from Riyadh.

In an address to the nation last week, Khan blamed the opposition for past mistakes and inflation in the international market for the miseries of the people in Pakistan. He also announced a 120bn-rupee relief package providing subsidies on essential food items.

Khurram Hussain, an economic analyst, said it was not enough. “The package is a drop in the ocean and will do little to help the mass of ordinary people. The pressure on Imran Khan will continue to mount because we have seen further price hikes, such as of fuel and sugar, after the announcement of the package.”

He said inflation was imposing a crushing burden on ordinary people because it comes at a time of high unemployment and stagnant wages. Prices of some essential items, such as fuel and electricity, are unprecedentedly high.

The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), an opposition alliance, has announced a campaign against the government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the inflation rates the country is witnessing. A long march against inflation was also announced as a part of the campaign from Lahore to Islamabad.

It says ordinary people of the country will struggle to afford basic necessities if prices do not come down.

Two weeks ago, Mohammed Ghufran, 47, a shopkeeper in Mardan, Pakistan’s north-western province, was arrested after he went to a mosque and prayed for cursing the prime minister. Ghufran said he had seen a fall in the number of customers as prices went up. He talked about inflation to daily wage workers, who told him that they could not afford to buy food for their families.

“I rushed to a mosque and announced to the speakers that we should curse Imran Khan,” he told the Guardian. “The prime minister promised a new (Naya) Pakistan and that it would be a welfare state for ordinary people but he has done the opposite. He is crushing the poor.”
Ghufran said he regretted voting for Khan and “everyone I know who voted for him and believed in him” regretted it, too. “People in my neighbourhood supported my calls against Imran Khan after I was released in two days. We believe Imran khan should resign if he can’t control the prices of essential commodities.”

Three years ago, a sack of sugar (50kg) cost about 3,000 rupees (£13) but now it is more than 7,000 rupees (£30). “As he lied to us, I pray God would ask him,” he said.

A government employee, asking to remain anonymous, told the Guardian that the prices of necessary commodities had increased with little increase in income.

The government has failed to control inflation,” he said. “I could run my kitchen for 60,000 rupees (£261) three years ago and now I can’t do it for 90,000 rupees (£393).”

So if 12% was bad, what do you make of 40%. If the electricity prices were high, who made all the IPPs contracts? If Sugar increase went to 70 rps, what is it today? If petrol was 150 when the oil price reached $120, what is it today? Don't tell me it's over 250 a litre. Please do explain why it's so high when oil is lower than any time after the pandemic? If the Rp was a free floating 180 to the dollar what is it today.🤣🤣
When beghairat like you pretend that PKs aren't at their wits end, at least have the intelligence to back it up with some real facts

PK has gone to the IMF on over dozen occasions and only once under IK. And the IMF edict isn't anything to do with the high electricity prices are the impact of IPPs which NS, AZ and Mush agreed to. These were deals that made sovereign guarantees that made payments in dollars and had if not been for IK fixing them at 148, PK would be an even worse position.
PK economy hasn't been improving, the PR of billions spent on the media is improving. The growth is anemic and investment is zero.

As for electricity the ingenuity is people are going off grid and there is a large market for solar energy and panels from China. Many households are shifting to solar and batteries for electricity.

Youthias like you were banking on 3 things

Is that sustainable growth or is it because there has been an influx of IMF loans which the Pakistan economy will pay for later?

If things are improving then why the begging of the IMF. Surely after 3 years of the mafia you would actually have sorted this out, never mind also having the other the 72 years. Inflation has killed PKs because the mafia have made contracts for electricity through IPPs that we can't afford but we still have to pay. The shamelessness of ignoring the fact that sovereign guarantees being given in dollars is for all to see.
