Yes, TV means a much bigger audience. Hopefully they can monetize it. Wish them best of luck. Hope PTV can upgrade to HD quality soon.........

Great to see Hasan Mohsin finally in action. Also good to see Hasan Ali return. Hopefully he can get his 2017-2018 form back.

Please note I have corrected the squad for Central Punjab in Post #1 based on what PCB said yesterday:

After Salman Butt withdrew himself from the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, Ali Zaryab has been promoted to Central Punjab’s first XI team.

And some people are saying he should be selected in Shaheens Squad.

And some people are saying he should be selected in Shaheens Squad.

You can give him crap for sr, but he's sitting on 33* and no other batsman has succeeded so far.

He hasnt played for months and doing well. This Saad guy looks like a right tailender

SHezad OUT 69 bowled fawad alam caught by Hassan poor shot came out edge went to third man which was quite close to the keeper.

Shazzy didnt impress me ..his feet stuck in mud ..never will be successfull that way. Since he got struck on the neck with the ball he has never been.the same

Northern first innings:

All out for 165

Just 165?? Arent THe pitches flat like last year? Are they again playing on unprepared pitches?

8 of the wickets appear to have been taken by spinners. Could be a raging turner. Alternatively could just be poor batting. Northern have a very weak batting line up.

Qasim Akram worked over by wily veteran Tabish Khan. Receives a bouncer, next ball is pitched up and feet went nowhere, nicks off to Sarfraz.

7 on FC debut.

Mohammad Saad doesn't look comfortable against the short ball. Out after a gritty fifty. Tabish Khan has a 5-fer.

Greatest injustce done to Tabish by not picking him for Pakistan during his peak years . It is not that we had Wasim and Waqar after the ban of Amir and Asif. I'm not saying that he would have been a sucess but he deserved his chance

That's a bit too much no?!

There is a problem of slow overate in Domestic Cricket and PCB doesn't seem bother about it. If u see majority of the matches, teams don't complete the full 90 overs quota a day.
In English domestic crickets, teams go for more than 90 (usually 98 overs) overs a day.
I think it is the stamina and fitness levels of players that prevent them.

Pakistan preferred picking the likes of Tanvir Ahmed, Asad Ali, Samiullah Khan instead in the last 10-12 years.

Thankfully he was never picked another sadaf hussain. Awful to say the least.

Yes they've got lethargic it seems as they're not sprinting in the field which for a first day is beyond absurd and pathetic.

Fitness has always been an issue and they've got worse since Covid as well with many flaunting bellies or just way too skinny.

Not being able to complete the 90 overs in a day isn't a good thing either and it doesn't show respect to the audience who have given their time to watch this.

Hopefully there will be good variety of wickets this year. Last year didnt have much for the bowlers and all the wickets were consistently pretty flat. So I think good mix of wickets would be better for batsmen as well as for bowlers.

Yes they were given tons of games. The fact is that even rahat Ali is miles better then Tabish khan

I'm not saying they were good or who was worse the fact is that the PCB has not ever given chances to those who performed well at domestic at the time they did well.

Aizaz Cheema is another example of whom was given a chance once he had went past his best times when performing but still managed to win the Asia Cup final for Pakistan.

Northern under big trouble. They were all out for 166 mainly struggled against Zahid Mehmood and Agha Salman’s spin and SP is 170 off for 1 with Shan on 80* and Hussain Talat on 53*.

It was interesting move by Northern to open with Umair Masood and also I guess cousin of Hasan Ali, 21 year old Athar Mehmood is playing but team is struggling as of now.

If am not wrong then Agha Salman is a part timer who's primarily a batsman if its the same one who played for Lahore in PSL last year. If so then Northern batters must be quite poor against any type of spin it seems.

We weren't blessed with many gifted bowlers after Asif and Amir being banned, and also likes of Bilawal Bhatti played for Pakistan then he surely deserved his chance. No one predict the future

He is an all rounder or we can say batting all rounder who balls pretty decent off spin. He has 66 pacers wickets in FC cricket @34 and 57 list A wickets @31. So I think definitely much better than a part timer. However, there is no doubt Northern struggled against spin when there doesnt seem to be a unplayable spin in the wicket.

Yes he's a decent spinner in terms of his stats as I remember checking up on him a couple of years ago but it's a shame that he hasn't been able to develop the way many would have thought he would.

Southern Punjab’s wrist spinner Zahid Mahmood edged closer to the 100-wicket mark in first-class cricket as he helped his side to spin out Northern for a paltry 165 on day one of the first round first-class Quaid-e-Azam Trophy fixture at the National Bank of Pakistan Sports Complex on Sunday.

Zahid carried his white-ball form from the National T20 Cup into the longer version of the game by returning figures of 9.4-2-41-4 to take his tally of first-class wickets to 96 in his 40th match.

Thirty-two years old Zahid was well supported by off-spinner Salman Ali Agha, who bagged three for 34, as Northern lost their last eight wickets for 91 runs to be left to rue their decision of batting first after winning the toss.

Test opener Shan Masood ensured he continued the good work of his bowlers when he carried his side to 174 for one in 40 overs. Shan, one of the most consistent batsmen in the domestic circuit for the past couple of years across all formats, has hit 10 fours in a 120-ball 80 not out.

With him at the crease was Hussain Talat, who was unbeaten on 53 as they two batsmen have added 89 runs for the unfinished second wicket.

Earlier, Shan had provided Southern Punjab a solid start by adding 85 runs for the first-wicket with Umar Siddique (40).

Southern Punjab earned three points for claiming eight wickets and then added another three points for bowling Northern out in less than 100 overs. Northern, on the contrary, failed to earn any point on the opening day after failing to reach 200 runs or picking up a minimum of three wickets. However, Northern will have a chance to pocket bowling points when play resumes on Monday while Southern Punjab will aim to secure maximum batting points.

In the broadcast National Stadium match produced by the Pakistan Cricket Board, defending champions Central Punjab laboured to 205 for nine in 86 overs against Sindh.

Ahmed Shehzad (69) and Mohammad Saad (51) stroked half-centuries but the day’s honours went to fast bowler Tabish Khan, who registered his 38th five-fer in his 129th first-class matches.

The 35-year-old accounted for Ali Zaryab (six), Mohammad Saad (51), Qasim Akram (seven), Hasan Ali (six) and Waqas Maqsood (0) on way to recording figures of 22- 9-44-5.

The major disappointment in the match was the failure of Azhar Ali, who dragged a wide ball from Mir Hamza onto his stumps after scoring 11.

30-year-old Quetta-born Bismillah Khan became the first batsman to stroke a century in the 2020-21 event as he steered Balochistan t0 310 for seven in 89 overs against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the UBL Sports Complex.

Bismillah was unbeaten on 102, an innings that is laced with 12 fours from 200 balls.

Bismillah first put on 66 runs for the fifth wicket with opener Sami Aslam (56) after Balochistan had slipped to 43 for four after electing to bat first and then added 160 runs for the sixth wicket with Kashif Bhatti.

Kashif showed he was no rabbit with the bat when he scored 98, missing his third first-class century by two runs. He hit 19 fours in a 126-ball knock.

For Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Junaid Khan, Imran Khan Snr and Ahmed Jamal picked up two wickets apiece.

Unlucky for Kashif Bhatti. Glad some sanity has prevailed and the much younger but equally skilled Zafar Gohar has found a place in the Pakistan squad

Look like PCB is using those old type of pitches.

High scoring pitches is necessary so that young batsman get a lot of time on the pitch.

first day of the season, and if games are all gonna be karachi likely some of the pitches will be sub international quality cos they gonna have to use smaller grounds.

from what i saw of the cp game, it wasnt the pitch, it was lots of bad strokes from the main batsmen.

Pcb have put short 3 mins highlights from all matches on their youtube channel

Excellent news bulletin type roundup of the non-televised Balochistan-KPK match. In previous years the highlights of non-televised matches were awful - just a bunch of random clips set to generic rock music. You had no idea who was batting or bowling.

The highlights of the Northern-Southern Punjab match are awful though because of artificial noise piped in. Who signed this off ?!
