Kudos to Balochistan, they lost both of their openers Imran Butt and Sami Aslam who were the main batsmen of the team (number 1 and 4 run scorers in QeA last year), and they make 418 in the very next match.

Saif Badar needs to go big here. For all the potential he has his career has gone nowhere. SP have backed him and given him another chance at number 4. He needs to repay that faith.

Got to 40 odd and then another poor dismissal playing away from his body. Come on man.

Lol at Saif Badar hype he can't even make runs in fc cricket yet is hyped as next big thing

Highly enjoying Basit Ali’s decisions from the dressing room. Exposed Jaahid Ali as opener (perhaps as a last chance to show what he’s got), gave Omair bin Yousuf more responsibility at number 3 (even though he failed, it was a good move), gave Sharjeel the license to accelerate, and now promoted Hassan Mohsin so he gets to bat over Asad Shafiq (who should have come in at 5).

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa edged closer to their second victory in the ongoing first-class Quaid-e-Azam Trophy as they needed 62 runs with seven wickets in hand to beat title defenders Central Punjab in the fourth round fixture at the UBL Sports Complex.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were 108 for three at the close of play on Sunday with Adil Amin and Mehran Ibrahim unbeaten on 39 and 13 respectively.

Earlier in the day, off-spinner Sajid Khan recorded his third five-wicket haul of the 2020-21 season as he added two more wickets to his tally. The 27-year-old returned six for 101 from 36.2 overs of which 11 were maiden.

Sajid Khan took half of the Central Punjab’s wickets in the match as he accounted for four of their batsmen in the first innings. As such, his figures for the match are 10 for 157.

That the third day’s was turned into a contest despite Central Punjab five down for 65 and a second innings deficit of 13 runs at the start of play was due to an 80-run stand between Mohammad Saad and Saad Nasim, who resumed the proceedings at three and 14.

The two batsmen posted valiant half-centuries. Mohammad Saad top-scored with a 190-ball 77, while Saad Nasim made 52 runs from 70 balls. Both batsmen crunched 10 boundaries apiece.

Bilawal Iqbal, batting at 10, made a handy contribution with an unbeaten 48, which included six fours and a six.

Pacer Arshad Iqbal took three wickets for 42 runs.

Sindh’s Sharjeel Khan recorded a first-class century after almost seven years, blasting 121 runs from 126 balls against Southern Punjab at the National Stadium, which took his team’s second innings lead to 278.

Sharjeel brought up his century in 99 balls and stitched a 130-run stand for the third wicket with Saud Shakeel, who is unbeaten on 45 and will resume the fourth day’s play with Hasan Mohsin (five) on Monday, after Sindh had lost two wickets for just one run and were 47 for two.

Over the course of his 179-minute stay at the crease, the left-handed opener smashed 16 fours and three sixes.

Sindh were 190 for three in 48 overs when stumps were drawn.

Earlier, Southern Punjab opener Zain Abbas missed out on what would have been his fifth century at this level as he was dismissed on 95. The left-handed batsman could add only 20 runs to his overnight score. He struck 14 fours in his 162-ball knock.

His overnight partner Saif Badar made 43 after resuming the day on 27.

With 67 off 89, Salman Ali Agha was the only notable run-getter for Southern Punjab. The middle-order batsman struck 12 boundaries.

Southern Punjab were all out for 295 in 86 overs. For bowling out Southern Punjab under 100 overs and ensuring they do not cross the 300-run mark, Sindh bagged four bonus points for bowling, while the batting side, who are also the table-toppers, pocketed two bonus points for batting.

Shahnawaz Dhani dismissed all three batsmen as he returned three for 74.

The pick of the bowlers for Sindh was Tabish Khan who added two more wickets to his tally to finish the innings with four for 83.

For the second time in the match, Balochistan’s Azeem Ghumman became victim of the nervous nineties as he was run out on 91 against Northern at the National Bank Sports Complex.

Balochistan were placed at a comfortable 223 for four from 48 overs and had an imposing 366-run second innings lead after Azeem anchored their innings over the course of his 125-ball stay.

The 29-year-old contributed 113 runs for the third wicket with Akbar-ur-Rehman, who is undefeated on 80 from 89 balls and will have the company of Ayaz Tasawar, who scored 71 in the first innings, when he walks out to bat tomorrow morning.

Akbar, to date, has struck eight fours and two sixes.

Northern were all out for 275 as Balochistan gathered four bonus points for bowling. The majority of the wickets were taken by Kashif Bhatti, who returned four for 114, while Taj Wali and Mohammad Talha accounted for two batsmen each.

All-rounder Mohammad Nawaz scored his career’s 12th half-century after resuming the day on 39.

The left-hander scored 67 from 166 balls, which included four fours.

Northern gathered two bonus points for batting.

I have always found Hassan Mohsin bang average at best. Not sure why people hype him so much. Can't bowl or bat.

He’s good enough for the domestic level that he should be backed and developed, he has good performances under his belt and he’s young enough too.

Wow Northern actually went for the target.

And damn near did it. Ran out of time otherwise they would have gotten there in 2 more overs max. What an effort!!

They don't have Haider, Rohail, Shadab and others in the team and still are in the top two. I didn't think they would do much with so many of their players missing, but they have surprised me big time.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa strolled to a five-wicket win over Central Punjab on the final day of their fourth round first-class Quaid-e-Azam Trophy fixture at the UBL Sports Complex. This is Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s second win of the tournament.

Adil Amin stroked his 17th first-class half-century after resuming the day on 39. The 29-year old right-handed batsman smashed 10 boundaries in his 53 off 106 balls.

Mehran Ibrahim was dismissed on 13 as he failed to add to his overnight score following which Zohaib Khan and wicketkeeper-batsman Rehan Afridi took Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the line.

Zohaib was unbeaten on 14, while Rehan’s 36 not out was studded with four fours and two sixes.

Bilawal Iqbal, who returned two for 31, took the two Khyber Pakhtunkhwa wickets, which fell on Monday. Ahmed Safi Abdullah finished with three for 87.

This is Central Punjab’s third defeat in four matches. The title defenders are positioned at the bottom of the points table.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa pocketed 23 points (16 for outright win, one for batting and six for bowling) from the match, while Central Punjab added only five points (all for bowling).

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will travel to National Stadium to take on Northern in a broadcast match in the fifth round, which runs from 26-29 November, while UBL Sports Complex will stage the first Punjab Derby of the season as Central Punjab and Southern Punjab will come face to face at the venue.

The match between Southern Punjab and Sindh at the National Stadium ended in a draw as both sides added five points more to their accounts.

In a broadcast match, Southern Punjab were 206 for four in 62 overs in their chase of 342 when both captains – Umar Siddiq and Asad Shafiq – decided to shake hands.

Southern Punjab’s Saif Badar scored a fluent 70 not out from 100 balls and he registered his career’s second half-century at this level. The right-handed batsman crunched nine fours and a six.

Opener Zain Abbas followed his 95 in the first innings with an 89-ball 42, which included six fours, before he was dismissed by debutant Abrar Ahmed, whose leg-spin accounted for three Southern Punjab batsmen in the innings.

Imran Rafiq was the other notable run-getter with 41 from 93 balls and his stay at the crease was also curtailed by Abrar.

Abrar returned three for 80 and his figures for the match were five for 199.

Earlier, Sindh declared on 253 for six after resuming the day on 190 for three.

Saud Shakeel converted his overnight 45 into his career’s 14th half-century as he was undefeated at 70 off 125 balls.

Southern Punjab retained their position at the top of the table as they secured nine points from the match (five for securing a draw, and two each for batting and bowling). Sindh pocketed 13 points (five for draw, and four each for batting and bowling)

Umar Amin and Mohammad Nawaz helped Northern secure a draw against Balochistan at the National Bank Sports Complex.

Northern were set 394 to win. They managed 385 for eight in 84 overs.

Umar recorded his career’s 21st century with a 162-ball 123.

He joined Nawaz, who scored 180-ball 95, at the crease with Northern struggling at 62 for four courtesy Kashif Bhatti – who had dismissed three of the top four batsmen by then and finished the innings with a five-fer, his 20th at this level.

The pair put a 123-run alliance for the fifth wicket.

Hammad Azam and Sarmad Bhatti made handy contributions below the order with 53 and 32 not out respectively.

Kashif returned five for 159.

Northern have bagged nine points (five for draw, and two each for batting and bowling), while Balochistan pocketed 12 points (five for draw, three for batting and four for bowling).

Wow they fell 9 runs short! Umpires could surely have given them literally one or two more overs?

And damn near did it. Ran out of time otherwise they would have gotten there in 2 more overs max. What an effort!!

They don't have Haider, Rohail, Shadab and others in the team and still are in the top two. I didn't think they would do much with so many of their players missing, but they have surprised me big time.

Yeah shame it wasn't the televised match. Northern always on paper seem weaker than the rest in FC cricket but are quite resilient.

On the other hand CP is underperforming when they are arguably the better side on Paper. Hurts to see the defending champion languishing in the bottom.

Unfortunately this isn’t the same team. As much dislike as they get, Salman Butt, Umar Akmal, and Kamran Akmal were domestic performers and necessary ingredients of the lineup.

The only remaining ingredients in Babar Azam, Azhar Ali, Abid Ali, Abdullah Shafique are on the tour to New Zealand. No Aizaz Cheema. Zafar Gohar was the man of the tournament last year. Umar Akmal man of the match of the final.

In reality you’re watching a completely different team right now.
