Quetta Gladiators (158/5) beat lacklustre Lahore Qalandars (140 all out) by 18 runs

Shinwari bowling his heart our but, Sarf puts Dunk down

Nawaz has become a very reliable bowler, shame his batting has not improved. He can still ay in Pak T20 team purely as a bowler and a tailend batsmen with ability to stop collapse and hit a 6 once in a blue moon.

Qalandars need 102 runs in 66 balls. RRR: 9.27

Poor cricket from LQ today.

Based upon the recent developments, IU is looking like a team to beat in this tournament.

Lahore is literally off the rails. From leaders to now elimination scare. What is going on?

Lahore was already playing with a specialist captain. Now Fakhar and Hafeez are not performing with the bat.

IU despite having a mediocre middle order batsmen, who seem to be improving, are led by spirited captain and are indeed a team that are favourites to atleast make it to final.

This David looks like he should be batting higher than 6.

LQ's batting really struggling at the moment. Dunk having a nightmare in UAE.

Why was Danyal batting ahead of Faulkner? It seems LQ rates Danyal very highly as an all-rounder.

Looking fwd to how Hasnain bowls with pressure on. Already know Shinwari cannot be relied upon in a pressure situation.

David out - that looks like it's the end of LQ's chances unless Faulkner can do something miraculous.

James Faulkner used to be a very good all rounder.I still remember him smashing India to all parts of the ground.

All the QG bowlers stood up today. Much better combination.

Even today they had a pointless selection of Zahoor

Rauf should have just block the final ball and let Faulkner handle the situation from the other end in the next over. It was certainly in faulkners range to complete the match.

Absolutely no cricketing sense in Rauf. Actually is the case with most of our players. Trying to hit every ball out of the park with faulkner at the other end.
Even top order batsman looks for a single after a couple of boundaries

Why didn’t Rauf just block? Faulkner used to be a pretty good finisher, he could have easily ended this.

Well done Quetta, much needed win and guys like Khurram Shehzad did very well for them.

LQ need to bring in Agha Salman at no 3 and also need to look if they need to continue with Daniyal or bring in Maaz Khan

Yep, but can't really blame a tail ender for the batsmen should have done in the first place.

This is probably a good thing for Lahore a couple of losses. Now they can re-group and come back in these next games.

Here is a piece of information. In international cricket, when facing fast bowlers, you have to anticipate where the ball will come. Most batsmen don't have enough time to react to different deliveries; hence, the anticipation. He was anticipating another in the slot ball which is harder to defend and easier to hit.

I think Falukner as a senior batting partner should have planned the chase here. Rauf scored 19 off previous 6 balls and Faulkner became too confident upon Rauf’s batting rather than asking him to block the last ball out.

Though it was a perfect yorker from Hasnain so he deserves the credit too.

Shinwari keeps on getting MOMs for fun on his good days, even in international cricket he has won quite a few.

Absolutely brainless shot from Haris Rauf. He should have been expecting the yorker at that point and when you need 18 of 14 deliveries, was that shot necessary?

Its this kind of lack of situational match awareness from Pakistani players in general which bothers me when you compare them to the players of the big 5. No coach or senior player in the world can teach you these things

Three-fers from pacers Usman Shinwari and Khurram Shahzad delivered Quetta Gladiators’ second win of the HBL Pakistan Super League 6 as the Sarfaraz Ahmed-led side defeated Lahore Qalandars by 18 runs with 12 balls spare.

Qalandars were rooted out for 140 and never seemed in control of the chase. They had lost their top four batsmen inside powerplay and their troubles had begun from the second ball when Usman dismissed Sohail Akhtar.

Fakhar Zaman was bowled by Mohammad Hasnain for 12 off nine in the fourth over and Usman curtailed veteran all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez’s stay at the crease to just five balls in the next.

Right-arm pacer Khurram then took his first wicket on the penultimate powerplay ball by removing Zeeshan Ashraf.

Qalandars were 40 for four after six overs.

Mohammad Nawaz delivered crucial blow as he bowled Ben Dunk and Rashid Khan in the seventh and ninth overs. When it started to look all bleak for Qalandars, Tim David hammered Zahoor Khan for one four and two sixes in the 13th over as his team gathered 23 runs from it and then smashed Usman for successive fours at the start of the 15th over.

The right-handed David was caught behind on the last ball of that over as Usman took Qalandars closer to the win. He blasted three sixes and four fours in his 27-ball 46.

Shaheen Shah Afridi then smashed a six and edged a bouncer for four and Haris Rauf spanked two fours and a six which kept Qalandars’ fans interest alive in the match, but it was all too late.

Hasnain, who had been at the receiving end of the blows from his fellow Pakistan pacers, bowled Haris with a searing yorker to seal the win.

Khurram’s other two scalps were Ahmed Daniyal and Shaheen.

Gladiators’ 158 for five was based on two crucial stands between Jake Weatherald and Cameron Deplort which added 58 runs and Sarfaraz Ahmed and Azam Khan which contributed 43.

Weatherald was the leading run-score with 41-ball 48, which included eight fours and a six.

Sarfaraz remained unbeaten on 34 off 27 (three fours and a six) and Azam smashed 33 runs at a strike-rate of above 183. The youngster’s 18-ball stay was studded with five fours and a six.

James Faulkner was once again the pick of the bowlers for Qalandars as he took three wicket for 25. He now has 11 wickets from four HBL PSL 6 matches.
