The 2025 edition of the Pakistan Super League is here and it is set to be a grand one at that. The cricket afficianados of Pakistan were thoroughly entertained not too long ago when the Champions Trophy was being held but the host's performance certainly didn't live up to expectations. It is now time for the crowd to rejoice again as Pakistan's finest mingle with talent from all across the globe. Match 2 will be played between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium at it will also be the first match of a doubleheader day. Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators are two teams that made it to the playoffs last time around but didn't play each other in the final four and both were eliminated by eventual champions Islamabad United who rallied to win three playoff games in a row to clinch the PSL 2024 title. Generally, PSL isn't played around this time of the year but the schedule was pushed back due to the Champions Trophy and for the first time, both the IPL and PSL will coincide with eachother, giving cricketing fans so much to look out for. Talking a bit about the teams, Zalmi have edged things out against the Gladiators in the last 5 meetings but they both won a game each against eachother in the last season. Zalmi will be led by the dynamic Babar Azam and he will have a talented squad at his disposal with the likes of Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Alzarri Joseph and Saim Ayub in the mix. Zalmi also have some hard-hitting and upcoming talented batters in the mix like Max Bryant, Mitchell Owen and Abdul Samad, all of whom can take the game away from the opposition just like that. Quetta Gladiators on the other hand have a great mix of players, a lot whom are seasoned T20 campaigners. Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Amir are a couple of veterans who are still going strong but a lot will depend on the younger players in the squad. Mark Chapman and Finn Allen will be the Kiwi duo to look out for and the likes of Sean Abbott, Kyle Jamieson, Akeal Hosein, and Kusal Mendis are a few more big names in the team. This is set up to be a fascinating encounter and with not much separating the two sides in recent times, we can't really predict a winner. Who are you backing?
