What's new

Quetta Gladiators beat Peshawar Zalmi by six wickets in third match of PSL 4

It happened yesterday. The golden combo of Asif and Faheem.

Yes they did well but I was mainly targeting the top 4 batsmen. Like Imam, Fakhar, Babar and Hafeez have rarely done it for Pak in recent times

Tbh, dude every comment that you've made in this thread has backfired. Terrible reading of the game and obviously very poor analysis.

:ua

But he isn't a finisher and shouldn't be batting at no. 6

He can play strokes and hit sixes, but that doesn't automatically make him a finisher

His best position is 3 or 4 and he has said it himself multiple times

If Pak want him back, then he needs to be backed at those positions, otherwise it would be useless

We will have Babar and Harris at 3 and 4 Sarfi at 5 so 6 is only position available.

Career defining innings for UA. Another innings like this and He's in for Asif

He shouldn't be in the team otherwise

Unfair on him and Pak need to find a proper finisher at 6

Bevan used to hit 4's to finish games and he is the goat of finishing

2 good days for Akmal household. Great innings from Babar, scintillating chase from Chota Akmal and zero drops from Kami...

Ive only seen 2 matches but not impressed with fitness of some of the players...may be thats why PSL is so low key...
Yasir Shah, Brendan Taylor, Pollard and D Smith...they are frankly fat baskets!

Great knock by UA. His all round shot ability makes him superior batsman than the hacks like Asif who have been enjoying free ride in the national team with zero performance.

we need both of them. Asif > Malik and other trundlers in our team. Those who know how to hit can develop the patience game. Its easier to learn the art of batting when you know you can easily hit out of the park at will.

there is a chance that UA get carried away by this performance and go downhill rest of the tournament from here...

second if he does well under Sarfi in this tournament which is a very long shot... I would still be very cautious in getting him in national team. Give him some T20s before WC and keep him on standby...

lots of ifs and buts gotta wait for the tournament to be over and analyze...

Except for one irrational shot at the start, it really was an excellent innings

Talk na Bro.

Damage has already been done. whatever PZ post will be below par. As he did during the Mohali game, 2013 CT and 2015 WC he scores consolation runs after a flurry of wickets when the innings is beyond repair.

We will "talk na" after the match just don't go hiding.

This is why there was no need for Misbah's fans to be rejoicing his fruitless runs.
Rafa back to you now - talk na :ua

asif needs to develop the patience game in domestic cricket not international and definitely not the world cup

did you not learn anything from the asia cup?

lol did you by chance look at our current team in the SA series? your forgot miserable power hitting and surrender to short pitch bowling? you forgot KP comments about our batsmen? Apart from Baber and Imam,Hafeez to some extent no batsman looks trust worthy in this line up. Good luck going in to world cup with this batting.

Match wasn't even finished and UA threads were already up!

This is not about this match only. It's about the hard work UA has been putting on his fitness and batting for last one year. Also how pathetic our current Limited overs batting is.

Yeah, and that's because of Misbah, otherwise you would have been 40-50 runs short.

See the light, start blaming MAqsood/Pollard/Dawson.

Don't wait for the match to finish secretly praying for Quetta to win. :najam

That isn't true as I mentioned earlier Misbah used up 8 balls in the 2 overs scoring just 5 runs, that changed the complexion of the innings because Pollard (and the partners to follow) realised he wasn't going to make an effort to build momentum. He upped the gears once the innings was beyond repair and we've seen this far too many times including Mohali, 2013 CT and 2015 WC.

QG didn't need my prayers to win because PZ never stood a chance.

so increase the misery of the ODI team by bringing a TTF for the mmmmm 4th 5th time??

No. decrease the misery by bringing ABs and Kohlis from our domestic cricket lol. If things were that easy Malik would not have been recalled and Hafeez would have retired long ago. UA has been out of the team for four years and all the replacement we found was Zimbabwe bashing Asif ali.:wahab2

umar is looking fit and much better than he did versus australia in 2017 january

:))) what is wrong with ramiz

he couldn't even say "man of the match" properly.

GOAT at the crease. MMHS

Indeed GOAT in this Sarfraz model PAK - you understand that Asad Shafiq has played 50+ ODI & non stop 65+ Tests over a decade for same line up and MoHa/Malik/Sarfraz are No. 4-5-6 for a WC in UK.

Instead of jumping like kids for slogging, try to read the game from conventional skills - haven't seen PSL this year much, but Umar & Maqsood can teach some of the PAK regulars playing off side shots.

Repeat after me who had the highest strike rate in the match.

Misbah.

And QG won by mere 2 balls.

Thank Misbah for his knock. Gave them a chance.

There is no way Malik is out before the WC. Best spot for UA is 6 in the team

Also, qG is a strong batting unit now cuz of Umar and Russow.

Zalmi also had no spinners which is stupidity of the highest order in the UAE.

MMHS maqsood was poor today and is dud against spin.

Didn't see, but he can't do worse than Asif Butler. Also, PCT management has categorically destroyed his confidence - give him unconditional 10 games against Aussies & Poms at #5 - if it doesn't work, dump him for life. At this age, he has maximum one WC & may be couple of T20 WC to aim at.

Something never changes - Misbah had a long stay in middle, his team scores at least 15 less than per with SIX wickets at hand .... and chasing side wins it in last over with same 4 wickets down - another respectable defeat.

MMHS is a big fan of UA. He has been vindicated

I am not his agent, neither brother in law, and at this age not impressed with his floating eyes either - but I do understand this game a little. In this Sarfraz style PAK team, Umer should have been the MVP in 3 formats. And, the format which has kept Sarfraz fan base active in PP, on proper merit he shouldn't be even in the squad of that - Akmal brothers are light years ahead as a T20 player than PAK Captain and in T20, you don't need a better WK than 1st baseman of Baseball.

LOL..Fair enough!! I am a big fan of UA..Always have been and there is little support for that troubled guy. TBH, I thought he shot his foot when he went to press about Arthur. I hope better sense prevails and he goes to WC in place of Asif or as a back up keeper instead of Rizwan. I'm not saying this just because of one innings today. It's the ability that is being wasted disappoints me

Oh comon man - he took so long to get in. He scored just 19 off his first 19 balls, it was all too little too late by then.

What I will say is this was a much better knock than what I saw last season where I'm sure even you would acknowledge he was awful.

Totally agree with this and I'm glad we share the same view on Umar Akmal.

Since the 2015 WC, Umar Akmal has played how many ODI's and T-20's for Pakistan? Poor guy was heavily scapegoated for Pakistan's poor performance in the 2016 T-20 WC and then never got a proper run in the squad again. 4 years wasted.

those 4 years were a blessing in disguise for him.

right amount of time out of the side for a kick up the back side.

he looked horrible fitness wise versus australia in 2017

Back then he deserved to be axed from the side. That innings against NZ was just as bad as Misbah's in Mohali. He had lost form, confidence and fitness - so he started playing for his average.

What annoys me though is when he was dropped from tests after having a decent away leg of matches (including Aus, Eng and NZ) but given just one test in UAE where you'll obviously find the most unforgiving bowling pitches on Earth- and when he was excluded from the 2013 CT squad.

After the 2014 WT20 up until 2016 WT20, he had regressed massively into a chubby leg side hack.

Now he looks fitter with a better temperament to his game.

Malik/Sarfi/Talat/Rizwan will win 0 matches out of 10.

Yes the captain who is undefeated in 11 T20I series will win 0 matches out of 10. Gosh that record totally supports your claims, and Malik isn't going anywhere till 2020 WC.

Umar Akmal played good today let him have a good PSL and he can be brought into IT20 Side.
