Debut in Tests for de Kock after a solid start in ODIs so lets see his performance in Tests.

I was hoping that AB would be relieved of glove duty since it affects his back but apparently Quinton is the one playing as a specialist batsman. Bad move imo.

de Kock is no more keeping regularly in domestic too because there is another regular keeper (Tsolekile) in his domestic team Lions.

off the mark with a 4. Well done young QDK.

My 6th sense tells me that De Kock will announce his arrival to Test cricket in style, in this debut match...

He is a flamboyant batsman, much needed for SA middle order

Hahaha out. He hasnt developed the temperament yet....

Looked very nervous at the crease. Then again he probably wasn't expecting to bat at that time. Still young though.

Kid is too young to have a solid temperament. Hopefully, with time he will get better.

He took quite some time to hit his groove in ODI cricket so I think he will need time to adjust to Tests as well.

Fantastic talent though.

Best young talent in the world.
The best thing about him is he doesn't have to wait for the opposition teams 5th-6th bowling option to score runs and attack. He loves to attack the giants in the opposition.

Yeah and takes some fantastic catches as well.

He is set to be South Africa's WK batsman for the next decade.

de Villiers is 30 now and he will hand him the gloves in a couple of years I think to prolong his career as a batsman.

Did better but a bit too loose for Test cricket IMO.

Nervous days :nasir

He will only become better.. needs to be given a longer run in Tests.

Just imagine if it was a Pakistani given a chance in Tests.. many PPers would be out asking him to be dropped, claiming how poor of a batsman he is because he failed in his 1st test :P

Brilliant innings today vs India in the 1st Test - 70 (99) under tough circumstances

another 100 for DK

Quinton de Kock 107 (154) 16 2 69.48

hes been on the attack since the start.

lets see if he can make a daddy hundred.

Averaging 67 with 2 hundreds and 4 fifties in 8 innings in 2019 so far.

Looks to be back in touch after a very underwhelming 2018 where he averaged 22.

QDK did amazing in this Test. I think he will do well in this series because this innings should give him confidence.

As long as he gets support from the other end and plays the ball on merit , he will have a great test career.

BJ Watling and him are fighting for best wicketkeeper batsman.

No disrespect to BJ Watling who is doing an excellent job for NZ but QdK is on another level.
QdK wil have to be very bad from now onwards to not finish as the second best WK batsman of all time behind Gilly.

He is a phenomenal player in every format of the game. Can play in any condition and any set of bowler.

Quinton de Kock becomes fastest wicketkeeper to 200 Test dismissals, breaks Adam Gilchrist's record

South Africa's Quinton de Kock on Sunday scripted a world record at the Wanderers in Johannesburg amid the hosts' struggling outing against England in the fourth and final Test of the series. De Kock went past legendary gloveman Adam Gilchrist to script the record.

De Kock bagged four catches in the second innings against Joe Root's side, completing the dismissals of Zak Crawley, Ollie Pope, Jos Buttler, Chris Woakes. And three in the first innings - Dominic Sibley, Root and Sam Curran. En route to the tally of seven catches in the innings, De Kock became the fastest wicketkeeper in Test cricket history to complete 200 dismissals.

Acheiving the feat in his 45th match as a wicketkeeper, De Kock surpassed Gilchrist's previous record of 47. He also went past veteran keeper Mark Boucher's tally of 52, who stands fifth in the list. De Kock now has 202 dismissals - 191 catches and 11 stumpings. He is second among South Africans, with Boucher standing atop with 553 dismissals.

He also starred with the bat scoring a resilient 76 in South Africa's tally of 183 in the first innings which left the hosts trailing by 217 runs. De Kock was dismissed before lunch by Mark Wood, the second wicket of the three they picked up late in the opening session.

England continued with their dominance on the scoreboard as Root's second fifty in the game and Sibley's 44 helped the visitors set an improbable target of 457 for South Africa at stumps.

He's had a brilliant tour, the decision by CSA to take the captaincy off him has been vindicated. Leadership sat heavy with him, it was always an ordinary decision in the first-place. He looks refreshed again.
