This guys is a real gentleman.. To ensure that every support crew gets equal reward following the U19 WC win, Rahul settles for lower rewards payout.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has accepted India A and under-19 head coach Rahul Dravid's demand for parity in cash rewards announced after India won the 2018 ICC U-19 World Cup earlier this month.

According to a report in Indian Express, BCCI has now come up with a revised list of cash awards. As per the new list, every member of the coaching staff, including Dravid, will receive Rs 25 lakh. The BCCI has also extended the list of beneficiaries and included members of the support staff who were part of the team's year-long preparation leading up to the World Cup.

The BCCI had announced a cash reward of Rs 50 lakh for Dravid and Rs 30 lakh each for the World Cup winning squad members. The other members of the support staff including fielding coach Abhya Sharma and bowling coach Paras Mhambrey were to get Rs 20 lakh each.

It was a departure from the usual norm where the players, who have done it on the field, get greater share of the prize money, but the COA-led BCCI has decided that the chief coach should get the biggest share.

After returning with the triumphant team, Dravid had expressed his displeasure over the difference in the cash rewards while crediting the success of the team to the entire support staff who had worked hard behind the scenes.

"It was great team work, guys behind the scenes, the selectors, NCA, the BCCI setting up games and series. Winning a tournament like this is a good reflection of the team work," Dravid had said in the media briefing after landing in Mumbai from New Zealand.

Wow, backing his full support team and not just taking all the credit himself

What a guy!

Not relevant but if Pakistan has won the world cup, Najam Sethi would have been talking all the credit...

Even today Sanju Samson was talking about the kinda influence Dravid has in his career and how much things improved under his mentorship. We're so lucky to have a guy like him in our system.

Great gesture. Didn't expect anything less from him. 3 million INR per player comes to around 37000 odd euros which isn't bad for teenagers.

it was for support staff, many of whom missed the IPL bonanza.. they certainly deserve it for their hard work behind the scene

"The BCCI had announced a cash reward of Rs 50 lakh for Dravid and Rs 30 lakh each for the World Cup winning squad members."

So that doesn't include the players? Too bad. What did they get, apart from a couple getting lucrative IPL contracts.

:salute

Only Ind player I respect and admire on and off the field. Brilliant gesture Sir!!!

All players got 30 Lakhs, Support staff were awareded 20 Lakhs and Dravid got 50 Lakh. So he negotiated to have all the support staff members to get the same reward. They agreed on 25 Lakh, so his reward came down by 25 lakh and others staff member's went up by 5 Lakh. Players reward was always 30 Lakh and stayed that way. I think his point was all players played well and they were rewarded equally and all support staff worked hard and they need to be rewarded equally.

Here is the link and some excerpts

The former cricketer, now the coach of the Indian under-19 and ‘A’ sides, was rewarded with prize money of Rs. 50 lakh for helping the youngsters lift the World Cup in New Zealand while members of the support staff got Rs. 20 lakh each with the players pocketing Rs. 30 lakh.

However, according to media reports, Dravid wasn’t impressed with disparity in the amounts.

According to The Indian Express, the former India batsman had demanded that all staff members should be paid equally and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have also agreed to the demand. Thus, all members of the under-19 coaching staff will now be paid Rs. 25 lakh, including Dravid.

He doesn't do it for photo shoot or for any personal gain. I have met him multiple times and he always comes across as a very humble and down to earth person. I remember watching a practice session before a Ranaji match sometime in late 2000s and he was a superstar that time. he was not playing the game but came down to meet the Karnataka players before the start of the match. Most of the players were practicing and some youngsters (who go there for net bowling, picking up balls, generally helping with practice) were sitting on on the edge of the boundary dead tired after running around the ground. He was talking to players and looked at the kids and recognized one local club player who was very regular to these practice session. He smiled in recognition, waved hands, excused himself players (some of whom were playing for India) and came to talk to that club player and his buddies. While jogging towards them he casually picked up few coke bottles that were kept around the players dugout and brought them to youngsters who were sitting their panting with exhaustion.. He sat down next to them on the grass and chatted for considerable time before going back to join the players. He was sharing anecdotes and some tips with those youngsters who were all ears and awe about his personality. Remember this was a Ranji match and no major crowd (nearly two hours before the start of the match) or press around to impress. Just imagine the pride and encouragement that those kids would have felt when the Indian (former) captain (I think he had resigned by that time, I forgot) takes the pain to come and talk and recognize the effort they are putting. Those kids may or may not become great cricketers, anecdotes and tips he shared may or may not help them in their career, but the gesture he showed will stay with them for the rest of their lives.. Those few minutes wouldn't have fixed their batting technique but would have enforced the part humility plays in everyone's life

Wow, great gesture, respect to Dravid. Some Pakistanis could learn a lot from him.

Thats why Dravid and Tendulkar are giants of the game. They have bigger hearts than egos. Kohli should be taking notes.
