After a rain-affected first 2 days, Pakistan will start Day 3 still on their first innings on 188/2 after opting to bat. Babar Azam (71*) and Azhar Ali (52*) at the crease.

Will Pakistan look to up the batting tempo to increase the chances of a result?

This Test is heading toward a boring draw.

It is expected to rain today also.

Rain in Dhaka, teams asked to stay in their hotels until further notice

We have two clear days and only chance of Pakistan of winning is going bang bang by scoring 170 runs in 25 overs then declare.

Get Bangladesh out under 350 runs( two innings). This is where Babar will be tested.

Not really. Tomorrow it’ll be a cloudy day. Max of 50-60 overs possible. And other team is there to play cricket lol. Bollywood scripts of going bang bang won’t help here

It is about intent

Bangladesh got out for 157 runs in their 2nd innings. Bangladesh's batting is nothing special.

I have seen matches complete in three days

not to forget, it won't be 3 complete days. We lost a session of day 1 and will probably lose another session tomorrow too, that leaves this test match of 2 days and 1 session. i don't think playing 4 innings is possible.

You have to try

It is better giving it a try then looking for a draw. The points are important for test championship standing.

Pakistan should just look to chill and bat out the rest of the test match, score big and give some rest to the bowlers

Yeah. Pretty much.

It doesn't seem like there will be any play today. Also, it should rain tomorrow too (as per forecast).

Day three of the second test between Pakistan and Bangladesh has been called off without a ball being bowled.

Starting time for the fourth day is 9:30 am (Bangladesh time). 98 overs to be bowled tomorrow.

Farce, frustrating. Reminds me of our test there in 2015, we were heading towards an innings victory but it rained for like 3 days.

SA too played a 2 test series there but rain ensured both those tests were drawn and the SA players were clowning around in their hotels all the time.

Does it rain a lot in Bangladesh or what?

Fans often forget that the other team are not in field to be just punch bag only. Lol

Babar azam should bat for 10 overs and score as many runs as possible then declare. Teams have been out for less than 150 multiple times on this pitch.

Be brave

Bangladesh is no India.

There are chances of them getting out under 150 twice in this match. It is a realistic hope

99% chances of draw

This match has 12 points at stake here, Pakistan has the best possible chance to reach the final of test championship if they win this match. Babar will be tested here to be brave, get 70 runs in next 10 overs and declare it.

Pakistan needs to go out and attack with the bowl to get them out cheaply which is possible as Bangladesh is batting. The match will be truly on.

Hoping for a win by Pak somehow. BD dont deserve to escape with a draw courtesy rain :shakib

E.g

60 overs tomorrow. 10 overs of Pakistan batting, try to get Bangladesh in next 50 overs under 120-130 runs. Pakistan will have a lead of 120-130 runs, they will need to bat for 20 overs on day 5. Hopefully they can get 10 wickets in the remaining overs and win the match.

Bangladesh scored 110 & 123 on the same ground against mighty SL attack in 2018. We are not ambitious enough. Imagine Kane Williamson or Kohli here in this situation. They would find ways to win a match

I'm not saying this might happen, be more ambitious.

I agree that Babar is not as aggressive as Kohli/Williamson. So, he may not go after it.

Australia or New Zealand would probably go after it hard.

Let's see what happens. But, I think it should be a draw without any drama.

Babar has similar stance like Misbah "Safety First". Both him and Saqlain knew it will be rain affected match. Why didn't they pick an extra fast bowler instead of Nauman? Bangladesh would have been struggle here. Babar can never be aggressive captain like Imran, Ganguly or Kohli.

Nasim Shah would be very handful in this cloudy weather. But Babar as usual thought he will use spinners for 80 overs. That's why Saqlain can never be a good coach, so as Babar can never be an aggressive captain.

Bad light won't effect Pakistan as they would be happy to bowl spinners from both end if it gets dark.

Management knew the forecast, they should have picked Naseem Shah instead of Faheem Ashraf to be more aggressive with ball. We didn't need extra batting option when captain knows that 2 days of cricket is washed out. Defensive and thick captaincy.

Timid mindset of Babar Azam.

Shouldn't even look to bat on day 4. Declare before day's play and use the morning to sniff out wickets. At the very most, BD batsmen will bat long but this strategy gives Pakistan the best shot at picking up 20 wickets in two days.

Pakistan should think out of the box to make this game interesting this mundane approach won't work declared straight away to put Bangladesh under the pump

Exactly!!! Hard to tell what is the actual responsibility of Saqlain, rather than a signboard as a coach and pose for camera.

That's all on Babar. He's the man who seems to be making the decisions. He rates Faheem a lot (as do I), but in this situation, we should have been more aggressive.
