What's new

Rajshahi Warriors (174/4) outclass Chattogram Royals (111) to win the BPL 2026 title

BPL's window is very convenient.

There aren't many ongoing leagues currently. So, they have more players to choose from. :inti

If Comilla was there then there would’ve been 3 teams from the same division of Chittagong, as Noakhali is there now. I know some Noakhailas close fam friends, speak funny language hard to understand but very proud people of the region and want separate division.

Pakistan players might not be able to play full BPL if they are called for National duty..

Spinner Abrar Ahmed pulls out of BPL 2025-26: reports

Mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed has withdrawn from the upcoming 12th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), with no reason disclosed for his decision.

While media reports have confirmed his exit, the Chattogram Royals have not issued an official statement, despite the player having received a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Ahead of the tournament, Pakistan's emerging talents Ihsanullah, all-rounder Jahandad Khan and middle-order batter Haider Ali drew attention at the BPL 2025-26 players' auction held on November 30.

Pacer Ihsanullah, who has represented Pakistan in one ODI and four T20Is, attracted the highest bid, joining Noakhali Express for USD 28,000 in the Category C foreign players' segment.

The right-arm pacer was previously signed by Rangpur Riders but did not feature in any matches.

Haider Ali, with 37 international appearances, was acquired by the same franchise for USD 20,000. He has prior BPL experience, having played 13 matches, scoring 213 runs at an average of 26.62, with a top score of 48 not out.

Jahandad Khan, who made his T20I debut against Australia last November and has played eight T20Is for Pakistan, was picked up by Durbar Rajshahi for USD 20,000 in the same category.

The trio will join five other Pakistani players who were directly signed ahead of the auction: Saim Ayub, Mohammad Amir, Usman Khan, Khawaja Nafay and Sahibzada Farhan.

Usman Khan was signed by Dhaka Capitals, while Sylhet Titans secured Saim Ayub and Mohammad Amir. Rangpur Riders signed young wicketkeeper-batter Khawaja Nafay and Rajshahi Warriors brought in emerging top-order batter Farhan.

This season, the tournament will feature five teams, reduced from seven last year. Dhaka Capitals and Rangpur Riders return from the 2024–25 season, while Chattogram, Rajshahi and Sylhet have undergone ownership changes.

Consequently, Chittagong Kings, Durbar Rajshahi and Sylhet Strikers have exited the league, making way for the rebranded Chattogram Royals, Rajshahi Warriors and Sylhet Titans.

Defending champions Fortune Barishal and Khulna Tigers will not participate in this edition.

The tournament is set to begin on December 26, with Sylhet Titans taking on Rajshahi Warriors at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

Today's Fixtures (26-12-2025)

MATCH 1: Sylhet Titans vs Rajshahi Warriors

MATCH 2: Chattogram Royals vs Noakhali Express

Saim scored 28 off 15, then while chasing 190 Sahibzada scored 20 off 19 playing so many dots in the process, can't even score those odd couple of 6s to bring his SR to 110 or so against mediocre bowlers, is only good for bashing pie chuckers like Bumrah.

Which pakistani players are featuring in BPL? Apart from saim ayub, amir, farhan and maaz.

What's the purpose of this league, no notable name in one of thee team playing today neither overseas nor local

What's the purpose of this league, no notable name in one of thee team playing today neither overseas nor local

Purpose of BPL is to find new T20 talents for Bangladesh and generate revenue I guess. Just like any other league. :inti

There are notable Bangladeshi players. Some of these guys play for Bangladesh or play for A teams. Some are new youngsters/U-19.

Main goal is to find good T20 players for the national team I guess.

Rambo commentating. Zainab being the presenter.

That's like making BPL the clone of PSL from the presentation point of view.

Has bowled around 4-5 no balls though costing around 12-13 extra runs, couple of wides too I think. 3 overs for 40 so far.
But it's impressive that he is bowling 140+ even after botched surgery and rehab. Tells you how much potential this guy had when he first burst into the scene in PSL

I don't blame Abrar for pulling out of BPL because he must've feared having to wait and fight for his money for sometime as some are already waiting for theirs for a few years.

The guy is always on Tiktok asking for money and playing battles with people. He's probably made a decent amount already and might get a hair transplant with it as he's already lost the frontal at the tender age of 23.

Yes I seen some of the no balls they were questionable very tight calls I was referring to his pace because I was led to believe that after his injury he was bowling 80 odd mph

Salman Mirza also playing the league , I'd PCB risking him before the all important T20 WC , or there is a cunning plan to induct Rauf and Naseem in case of any mishap

Everybody else is playing. :inti

Money issue happened with certain franchises. Not a BPL-wide problem.

Also, foreign spinners aren't needed as BD have many spinners. BD mostly need foreign pacers/batters.

By the way, Shoaib Akthar is currently working as a mentor for Dhaka franchise. This is his debut BPL stint. :inti

'Teach how to win matches' - Shoaib Akhtar's plan for Dhaka Capitals in maiden BPL stint

Shoaib Akhtar wants to pass on a few tricks to Bangladeshi fast bowlers in his first stint in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) as a mentor, with Dhaka Capitals. This will also be Akhtar's first stint as a member of the support staff in the T20 franchise circuit.

"I've never been part of the BPL before, but I've heard that it's doing great," Akhtar, who last played competitively in 2011, said in Dhaka on Monday. "Finally, I had the opportunity to come here and be a part of it. I want to pass on whatever I've learned, especially about fast bowling, motivate the players, give them a few tricks to win matches and elevate their mindset.

"My job will be to give confidence, teach how to win matches and, through Dhaka Capitals, reconnect with the Bangladeshis, one of the most beautiful nations in the world."

Akhtar had high praise for Bangladesh's new crop of fast bowlers, who have risen through the ranks and have performed as a unit in recent years. He also complimented the national team's bowling coach Shaun Tait, who, in his prime, was Akhtar's competition when it came to the speed gun.

"I want Taskin [Ahmed] to break my speed record," Akhtar said. "The pace battery that you're talking about, I think it's looking good. I really hope that they make it far in the [T20] World Cup [early next year in India and Sri Lanka].

"Shaun Tait is one of the best coaches you have when it comes to fast bowling. You don't need me after Shaun Tait. I'll be honest with you, I think you're going to keep on working with him. He is one of the fantastic guys, one of the most honest people that you can have."

Akhtar had a bit of advice for Nahid Rana, the fastest bowler in Bangladesh's history. "The advice for Nahid Rana is to keep your training level up when it comes to the muscle mass," Akhtar said. "Fast bowling is all about taking the stress on the body. And the body only can take stress if you have the muscles. And the muscle, the lean muscles, the high-repetition training. And keep the pace up and keep the attitude right up on the ninth sky.

"I have so far seen that in Taskin. And he is looking very good, he is looking sharp, he's looking focused. And so is Nahid Rana. I think if he keeps on going along with a great training session and when it comes to training properly... I'll give him an advice at the same time, if I ever see him. I'll tell him the trades and secrets of training. If he gets that, I think he will go far. But the most important is the attitude that you have towards life, and that reflects on the field."

Bangladesh will not play any more T20Is this year, and will head into the T20 World Cup with only the BPL games under the players' belt.

"I hope Bangladesh become a force in the coming World Cup," Akhtar said. "I want them to be one of the greatest forces to reckon with. This is one of the most exciting national teams, and I really hope they go far or somehow manage to climb up the ladder and win the World Cup."

It's a testament to the high quality of the BPL that there are no pie chuckers like Bumrah here and the foreign international level players are almost exclusively Pakistanis

It is probably the lowest quality league, on par with ILT20 in terms of shadiness.

Unless Bangladesh wins few major titles down the road, most of it's leagues will be of low quality. Nonetheless, its all good, sports are way overvalued in general across the globe anyway.

it is worse than ILT20 in terms of shadiness and has been for well over a decade.. I have contact with lots of past players from BD local leagues and the amount of fixing is unbelievable. everyone knows it

TODAY'S FIXTURES (27-12-2025)

Match 3: Dhaka Capitals vs Rajshahi Warriors
Match 4: Sylhet Titans vs Noakhali Express

it is worse than ILT20 in terms of shadiness and has been for well over a decade.. I have contact with lots of past players from BD local leagues and the amount of fixing is unbelievable. everyone knows it
They are trying to curb some of that now with new administration.

Rajshahi Warriors finished their innings at 132/8 with Najmul Hossain Shanto the top scorer for them with 37 runs.

Dhaka Capitals coach dies after collapsing ahead of BPL game

Dhaka Capitals assistant coach Mahbub Ali Zaki died after collapsing suddenly at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium during a Bangladesh Premier League match on Saturday. Jaki fell on the ground minutes before his team's opening match against Rajshahi Warriors in the BPL.

Team staff and medical personnel immediately administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) before he was taken by ambulance to Al Haramain Hospital, where he was declared dead. BCB's chief physician Debashish Chowdhury confirmed the death.

The sudden collapse shocked everyone in and around the ground while Dhaka team officials said Zaki had not complained of any health issues prior to the incident.

Players from several BPL teams rushed to a Sylhet hospital on Saturday after Dhaka Capitals assistant coach Mahbub Ali Zaki collapsed at the stadium shortly before a match.

Cricketers from Sylhet Titans, Noakhali Express and Chattogram Royals were among those who went to Al Haramain Hospital as news of the incident spread.

Jaki came into spotlight after working closely with Taskin Ahmed after his action came under scrutiny during the T20 World Cup in India in 2016.

The BCB expresses deep bereavement and profound condolences at the death of Mahbub Ali Zaki, Specialist Pace Bowling Coach of BCB Game Development, who passed away today in Sylhet. He was 59.

A former fast bowler, Zaki represented Comilla District with distinction in the National Cricket Championship. He also featured in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League, turning out for leading clubs including Abahani and Dhanmondi.

Following his playing career, Mahbub Ali Zaki dedicated himself to coaching and player development. He joined the BCB in 2008 as a High Performance coach and went on to make a significant contribution to the growth of pace bowling in the country through his work.

The BCB extends its heartfelt sympathies to his family, friends and the cricketing community during this difficult time and prays for the eternal peace of the departed soul.

It was fixing. I watched the entire over. :kp

Sylhet needed 27 off 27 with 7 wickets in hand. They won by 1 wicket in the last ball. Clear case of fixing or just really poor team.

Faheem Ashraf delivered a match-defining performance for Rangpur Riders in the Bangladesh Premier League clash against Chattogram Royals, claiming a sensational 5 for 17 in 3.5 overs to dismantle the opposition for just 102 in Sylhet. Bowling with pace and control, Faheem removed key middle- and lower-order batters to halt Chattogram’s momentum after a brisk start, earning Player of the Match. His spell laid the foundation for Rangpur’s comfortable 7-wicket win with 30 balls remaining, underlining his impact as a genuine game-changer with the ball.

So, Rishad Hossain is playing in Australian BBL instead of BPL. Interesting. :inti

Players normally play in their own country's leagues first.

Sylhet Titans vs Chattogram Royals, 7th Match

Match postponed in respect of the nation’s mourning following the passing of Begum Khaleda Zia

This has to be the dumbest and most unprofessional league in cricket.

First the funeral in the cricket stadium, now postponing games for the passing of a former pm....

Ridiculous.

Ridiculous.
The only reason games should be postponed if there's any civil disturbance in the city

Why postpone for Khaleda Zia's death? That is absurd.

Cricket shouldn't be affected by political news. :inti

Why would there be any civil disobedience when a person passed away through illness or old age

Yeah. It is too much. It is not like she was assassinated or anything. She died from health complication/old age.

They could've done 1 minute of silence and kept on playing I guess.

Ur thoughts on the funeral of the coach being held after the match in the same crixket stadium?

The BPL governing council has dropped Chattogram as the tournament's venue for the rest of the 2025-26 season. The decision came after they had to postpone the ongoing BPL for two days following the death of former Bangladesh prime minister Khaleda Zia. Sylhet will continue to host the BPL matches till January 12, after which Dhaka will host three more match days, followed by the playoffs, and the final on January 23.

There is too many gaps between the matches. I already lost interest in following. BD sports management is really really poor.

There is too many gaps between the matches. I already lost interest in following. BD sports management is really really poor.

I have never watched a single BPL match in my whole life.

Let's face it. This is not a serious league.

It is just to find some good T20 players and generate a bit of revenue.

Saim failing again after trying to stat-pad his way to a score, absolute bonkers how out of form literally each of our batter looks in these leagues.

Another level fixing in BPL. No ball ,two droped catch in 3 balls then threw the ball towards the boundary. :klopp :kp

Sylhet Titans vs Dhaka Capitals, 9th Match

Saim Ayub, playing for Sylhet, scored 29 off 34 balls.

Mohammad Amir. 2 overs 1 run and 1 wicket

While Imad Wasim was playing for Dhaka, he bowled 3 overs for 14 runs, no wicket... Currently waiting to bat now.. might come in at number 8....
Usman Khan played as well for Dhaka... 21 of 15 balls...

MATCH 10: Rangpur Riders won the toss and decided to bowl first against Rajshahi Warriors.

Rajshahi Warriors Playing XI: Sahibzada Farhan, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Najmul Hossain Shanto(c), Mushfiqur Rahim(w), Hussain Talat, Yasir Ali, SM Meherob, Mohammad Nawaz, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Binura Fernando, Ripon Mondol

Rangpur Riders Playing XI: Dawid Malan, Litton Das, Towhid Hridoy, Kyle Mayers, Mahmudullah, Khushdil Shah, Nurul Hasan(w/c), Faheem Ashraf, Aliss Al Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, Nahid Rana

Nahid Rana is the fastest bowler BD have ever produced. However, he has to pick up some other tricks for Australia tour later this year.

This SM Meherob guy seems promising. He is a bowler primarily, but I remember he played this crazy knock against IND Emerging team recently.
