I second that. He had everything - great outswinger, pinpoint yorkers, reverse swing, decent pace hovering 140, very deceptive slower balls - both leg break and off break amongst them, and workaholic attitude. Had good fitness for Pakistani standards as well.
He was the man of the series for December 2006 ODI series against West Indies, but flopped in only one series (the very next one against South Africa) and was immediately dropped in favour of out of sorts Azhar Mahmood for the world cup! I'm sure had he played the World Cup, he could have run through Windies and Irish batting line-ups on green-tops that were prepared.
He was the highest wicket taker in BBL 2011, which included a hattrick, and was performing impressively alongside Mushtaq Ahmad in English County for 4, 5 seasons on the trot. Anyone who would have seen his county performances in 2010 (when he was still swinging miles) would have recommended him for the World Cup 2011 over Razzaq, Umar Gul and Wahab (who all were inconsistent back then and lacked swing+effective change-ups).
He was a proper allrounder as well by that time.
One more story of wasted talent in long history of such stories in Pakistan
