Rashid Khan vs Shadab Khan

Definitely a case of the nerves for Rashid last night. Bowled a bunch of deliveries full which is uncharacteristic of him. His greatest weapon is his ability to skid the ball since he bowls faster than a normal legspinner, so the ball ends up lower than expected by the batsman.

Rashid didn't bowl his best last night, bowled a few deliveries that got smashed that were "hit me" balls

Rashid is as young as he says he is. There is no point of being dubious. A guy who grows up in a rough and poor environment will look much older than his age. Only 5 years ago he looked like a child.

Also big lol at all the age experts. You guys dont even know Rashid Khan. He is as young as he says he is. I could post his childhood pictures along with his teenage years and also cofirm by posting screens of confirmation from their players but there is no real need to.

I think it should be tight competition with the way both lads are progressing. Rashid being played in the very first match and getting an important wicket at the start of a dangerous Mandeep proves he's certainly going to be one of the bowlers to look out for this IPL.

Shadab has proved he's not a one trick pony and hoping to see more examples of that in the ODI's.

As far as the age of the players is concerned, I don't think it should be a thing to even consider. Age is important when you play Under 19 cricket. But when you're playing at National level, you can be 52 or 12, nobody will care. The point is, both are young, good legspinners playing for their teams and making a big mark. Lets see who does better!

Rashid with 3 LBW's.

One outside edge of Raina dropped by Warner.

Got Smith as well with a beauty, but umpire failed to spot the outside edge.

Bowled really well - sharp turn at pace with accuracy & variation.

But this also indicates the spin playing capacity of modern era. Tahir, now Rashid, few days back Shadab, a month back Chahal - even Adil is running havoc with his full tosses.

Plz, forget about this age discussion, he is not playing any age limited league, let's talks about Rashid,s skill.

I just saw his bowling in IPL, hugely impressed. He will be in competition with Shadab in days to come. It was great to see Rashid showing no signs of nerves at such a big stage and carrying so many expectations. Wonderfully talented young man and great to watch.

Batsmen did not seem to pick his googly at all. The way Raina got out, he had no clue which way the ball will turn.

Rashid Khan has bowled splendidly today. Absolutely destroyed the oppositions top order which consists of Twenty20 ATG's. This is by no means a mean feat. Rashid is ahead of Shadab for me currently even though he had the aid of a turning wicket.

But you never know, Shadab had a decent debut outing in a losing cause. Let's see how good he is today. Bishoo is making the ball talk so looks like the pitch is helpful for the spinners.

Tough competition between the two.

Shadab bowled on even better pitches against WI.

The problem with spinners are that pitch plays a big role. You cannot take the pitch out of equation like really good pace bowlers can.

How about Warne? He could take pitch out of equation. Sometimes Kumble did that as well but much lesser number of times than Warne.

Rashid Khan leading the chart for most wickets in 2017. And by a good number that! Sure, he's played against minnows and on friendly pitches but good achievement for someone from a nation that just burst onto the scene!

Beautiful bowling spell today by RK. He is already an Afghan Legend. Probably the best Leg spinner along with Tahir.
A couple of years and he will be in the same league as Ashwin/Jaddu..

Rashid Khan is surely a wonderful talent. Shame he plays for Afganistan, so we might never know how good he could be.

dont forget another gem in the making...

Nothing to feel shame about. Afghanistan might be awarded test status by ICC soon. So eventually his dream of becoming a test cricketer will get realized.

His recent list of Indian victims is promising. Rohit, Raina & Gambhir. Way to go.

Rashid Khan has done very well in this IPL.

Congrats.

I had my doubts reg him (reg his effectiveness once his googly is deciphered) and I still do but he sure has proven me wrong until now.

Go Rashid.

Always good to see a young leg spinner performing well.. Good for Rashid hope he grows with every game

I dont really rate IPL performances. A lot of mediocre guys have performed well in ipl in the past. But I do like what I saw from rashid. I think rashid is ahead at this moment

but shadab rate on wrost league like psl performance where only oldies & retired player play most of

I noticed that Rashid Khan and Tahir both each have two different kinds of googlies, a quicker one and a slower one. Batsmen are picking their googlies but not picking which one is which.

My friends was his class mate, he is almost 23 year old then how the heck can Rashid be 18 year old?

The one having those bowlers who have to be searched for once they leave Indian shores and can't be find anywhere else?

Rashid Khan has been signed by zalmi for next years PSL apparently.

He looks a good talent. Good pick up by SRH.

Got thonked by Vohra today who played an outstanding inning. I think the guy hit Rashid for 3 sixes and 4 fours.

Anyway he still ended with 2 for 42. His first over went for 16 and last for 21. In the middle he bowled some very good overs and bowled Miller and Saha.

Amazing thing is almost all his wickets are lbw or bowled. Only 1 catched.

Nabi also played today and bowled 1/28. Could have been even better had there been a decent umpire.

Overall good day for Afghanistan.

It must have been a super cool moment for Afghan fans to see 2 players out if 4 foreigners in an ipl team.

Congrats man.

Hard to judge as they have played few matches and that too against different oppositions in different conditions, would like to see them in PSL together to pick out a winner.

Looks like Rashid Khan has clearly won this one. I really like Shadab and this is just IPL but he's been marverlous. Yet another spectacular performance today. Figures of 1/16 in a high scoring innings is splendid. Played in all Sunrisers games and has picked up wickets every single time except once. And he's always been economical too.

Haven't seen Rashid so can't comment but Shadab is a genuine allrounder so he's always going to be more valuable as an overall package.

With his recent figures of 7-18, Rashid Khan clearly has a huge lead over Shadab Khan now. But then again, could he have performed the same way as Shadab did in a pressure game creating most if not all of the chances?

Let's see how Shadab does versus Sri Lanka. Been a breath of fresh air thus far.

Rashid does not look 18 to me. Looks more like 25 lol but its possible to look older than you are.

Rashid is miles ahead of shadab khan. No competition.

While I do agree that Rashid Khan is ahead as of now, but there certainly IS a competition. Thats why this thread exists. The quality of opposition Rashid plays against usually isn't even half as good as what Shadab had to face in the CT. Nonetheless, Rashid is doing better overall.

Rashid khan is the best loi spinner in the world at the moment, he will do well against all the side.

Guess the IPL experience really helped him with the top coaches and world class players around.. Good for Rashid taking 7/12 is a great achievement..

Lemme know when Shahdab is able to pick 7 against any team.
That whole all-rounder thing is no excuse as strike bowler cant match an all-rounder.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves he is certainly in the reckoning to be the best LOI spinner but until he plays top teams you would never know how he fares against them..

Having said that he handled the pressure of IPL against the top players pretty well..

Take it easy. He was equally good before the IPL. While he did gain massively in experience, the IPL isn't some Godsend for him in terms of ability. Probably gave him good money and confidence at best.

Warne never picked 7 wickets against a side in ODIs, does that mean Rashid is supposedly better than Warnie? While I do agree that Shadab is inferior as of now, having taken 7 wickets against a particular side isn't the sole criteria for being a better spinner.

Ofcourse he was good before the IPL as well no one is saying that he wasn't.. If you have played sports at any level you would know how top level coaching and sharing the field with world class players can boost up your self confidence and help you grow as a player..

Rashid khan never becomes ATG because he play more of his matches against hong kong kenya etc

In LOI, yes!

One would think there is more pressure on Rashid as he is basically only real threat in the Afghan bowling lineup. Everything depends on him for Afghanistan to win.

Disagree. Dwlat Zadran and Nabi are pretty good bowlers. Zappor Zadran also can give bursts of excellence with pace and bounce. It's a pity that their star bowler Hamid Hasaan has broken down. He is possibly the first out and out fast bowler from an associate nation.

Is he really that good? Mr. Headband-facepaint gives off the vibe of a total showboat.

He was very good. Bad injury in 2012 ruined him totally. After his comeback he was not even half the bowler, but still pretty good. I think you have seen him after 2012. He was basically doing what Rashid is doing now for Afghanistan.

OK. The other Afghan pacers are brisk, but spray it a bit. I feel they overdo the machismo part of fast bowling, and underrate the thinking part. Love watching them play though, Afghans have displaced Windies as my 2nd favorite team after India for the last few years. Not surprised at all with the win over WI. Actually a bit surprised that they didn't win at least one T20 against them.

If he carries on like this then it wont be delusion.

I hope he carries on because a stronger Afghanistan is only good for cricket but I think this is a bit of an overreaction, don't you think?

If he carries on then both of them could possibly be on par. Just because Warne is old doesn't mean that he's better.
