Those who rate Cook higher than Warner are as dumb as they come, which seems to be the case with most posters above.

As expected most people underrating Cook. He's got 12000 runs at 46.35 average!

If he were a Pakistani then PP would've gone crazy about him.

Both him and Azhar are criminally underrated openers.

David Warner - 6/10 HTB/FTB
Alastair Cook - 9/10
Hashim Amla - 9/10

So acc to you warner is better?
Any logic behind it?
Acc to me cook is light years ahead, considering his performances all over the world.

Warner is a massive match winner unlike Cook.

Cook can only dream of scoring 600 runs against an attack of Steyn, Philander and Morkel in SA.

Cook is a dud in 2 of the 3 formats. I guess most are considering all formats.

What are your ratings for Kohli,Smith, Root , Azhar Ali?

Kohli: 7.5
Smith: 8.5
Root: 7
Azhar: 6.5

Cook has actually performed very well all over the world while Warner is worse against spin than Rahane.

Why? Do these people not know how to read?

Warner is miler better than Cook when it comes to pace bowling. And Warner isn't as bad against spin as fools on this forum believe. Scored a hundred in UAE and two 100s in Bangladesh, who are a very good team at home, on those minefields. Had starts in all matches in India last year, just couldn't convert it into big scores. Played many big innings on some slow surfaces in the IPL. Only dumbos think he is poor against spin.

I am guessing these rankings are just relative to each other within this subset.

Otherwise, if ABD is 10, then what about Sachin and Bradman?

How is Smith 8.5 and Amla 9?

By all means, Smith is already ahead of Amla. Even if Smith cannot prolong his super purple patch very long, he will end up with a 55+ career average at least after 100 tests, and Amla is going to end up at high 40s.

Even not taking stats into account, Smith has played way more combative and significant innings than Amla.

Is this based on current or last few years performance? Or is it based on overall careers?

Did you just base your rankings on current form? Because overall, Amla is better than all those bats (bar ABD, possibly they are equal as of now)
